Can we get another soundtrack for Guild Wars 2 that includes all of Maclaine’s (and other compositions) outside of the initial soundtrack release? Please?
I know HoT is on the way, but are we going to have rehash of the Halloween update from last year and the year before?
I was able to acquire a shirt code back about a year or two ago and I would like to ask if you could make that an armor skin instead of a tonic. As with some of the town clothes, I would like to be able to wear the shirt as part of an overall look with my character. I realize there are probably constraints as to why they are tonics (them not fitting with or clipping through armor pieces) but I would implore you to consider making it an outfit or something. I want to wear it with my Guild Wars 2 hat so I can show my love for the game!
Secondly, are there any plans on making a HoT in-game shirt/hat? That’d be keen.

p.s. The kitten was fifty dollars in numeric with additional signage. That kitten better be worth it.

I apologize if there’s a thread or topic about this somewhere already, but is there going to be a physical purchase for HoT (with possible Collector’s Options)? I feel kitten purchase for an expansion would be better justified if I had something to actually hold and breathe all over.
Please answer hastily as I want to preorder the digital copy if not. You have my moneys regardless, but a shiny new CD would be neato!

I beg to differ thinking rewards make all the difference. Without sounding too negative, even the reward that was usually customary for the Guild Wars Halloween events (the mask/hat) is also a reissue and therefore added to the list of what made this event so disheartening this year. As I’ve said in previous posts, I have always looked forward to Halloween in GW as this WAS their flagship holiday. I just feel that they have let down some of us who want to see new content/story over new trinkets. Hell, the Mad King would’ve had a field day seeing LA in ruins!
I hope they do something more with Halloween next year, but we’ll see.
Yeah, broken. I’ve been a gamer a looong time and I’ve seen what polished games look like and half-finished games. MMO’s generally fit into half-finished as end content is not usually the primary focus when developing the game to what it is. There may be a plan in place, but it usually gets implemented when the producers tell you to rush the game out and less time is spent developing for it. GW2 is of no exception. Case in point, look at the differences in the dungeons. You can tell they spent a great deal of time developing Ascalonian Catacombs (because of the demo/beta maybe) while the others seem progressively more… haphazardly slapped together. The story dungeon in Arah was a giant mess and sadly, a bit underwhelming. The other dungeons, story-wise, are a little more forgettable as story elements do not culminate to them as much (meaning they can mostly be skipped and not missed). Technical glitches aside, balance issues, and everything else aside, yes, GW2 may not have been as “broken” as others, but I have seen better attempts even with launch day issues. And, I actually love this game if you can figure that out.
Let me put it this way: ArenaNet is in no way ready to make a GW3 as there are A LOT of things they need to flesh out with this one. It’s not going to happen any time soon; I know that and I’m happy with that, I just found it humorous that someone was anxious about it when this game is nowhere near done.
Gods, I hope they’re not doing GW3 at this point. With all that is broken in this game I would shudder to see what GW3 had in store.
I’m going to add an “I am not pleased with recycling event comment” here as well.
I for one am very disappointed that they’ve already automated the Halloween event much like they did with Guild Wars 1. On top of which, this holiday was usually their best one back in GW1 day and I’m sad to see it reduced to… this.
I always loved their Halloween event the most and I still hold the Mad King as one of my favorite characters introduced in the old game… much like Adelberne. That aside, I would love to see them continue the events in a grandiose fashion as they had and not cast them by the wayside of some “big new project.” I will admit I do not enjoy the Wintersday Event as much as I did with GW1, but I was disappointed with that event being mostly rehashed last year as well (if my memory serves correctly). The holiday events should be fun and fresh and serve as a deterrent from waiting for “the next big thing.” They don’t have to be completely new each time and heck, I think you should be able to access previous events, but it doesn’t make sense story-wise in the world when you have a story element that repeats as though the event in the world is a new thing. Updating dialogue to reflect a previous encounter would suffice to say the least.
Anyway, I hope they go back and do the events since they’ve already automated Wintersday, have currently automated Halloween (my favorite of holiday events), and have dropped the Moto Back-to-School event. My heart is a little sad as I look forward to this event every year since GW1. I guess I won’t get my hopes up again next and see if they bother with it at all. And yeah, I am acting like a child whose Christmas just got ruined by getting clothes instead of toys. Over-privileged? Maybe, but it’s Halloween kitten it!
Boo-stricken,

Question: I don’t know if this has been answered or not, but since megaserver roll-out there has been a huge influx of gold sellers. I report for spam, gold selling, and then I block, but what steps are being taken to get rid of these guys on ArenaNet’s end? I’m just curious really, but I guess I also want to know if my reporting this activity is actually beneficial.
Also, if this has been answered already elsewhere, please point me to that thread/post.
This thread is full of entitled individuals. Too bad they don’t invest their energy on more meaningful crusades.
Pretty sure a lot here invested a lot of time and energy in this game and the past WvW season.
This is why it is a very meaningful crusade.
It’s not. Someday, when you’re old and gray and your kids and grandkids bury you deep in the ground, they most likely will not remember the time that you fought so hard to get ‘valuable’ digital trinkets from a ‘mean’ and ‘nasty’ corporation looking to dominate the world by ‘refusing’ to fix them. Your headstone should read: "Accomplished great feats in his crusade against the vile ArenaNet. " The starving children in Uganda thank you for your service.

I don’t need ranger builds, I can play mine fine enough. I find that even with sigils, recalling pets, or whatever that the pets remain somewhat ineffective during big events in dungeons or, dare I say this without backlash, Living story events. Unless you can time sigils right (which their effects get ignored at times anyway) or recall your pet effectively, you still run the problem of minimalizing damage potential with pets that cannot remain on the battlefield.
One on one pvp is a different thing altogether and I can’t say much for that since I don’t exclusively pvp, but I can say that in pve, I’ve found that I recall my pets more than employ the use of sigils or certain traits, but regardless, the topic is more discussing ‘pets’ that cannot be controlled per se. The ones that are specific for defensive affects, or hell, offensive if stationary, that can get wiped with a simple AoE simply because they don’t run out of it or have some sort of evasion mechanism in place. Granted, I personally don’t want to see indestructible turret-pets, but it would be nice to have the option to employ them without fear that they’ll be immediately wiped in most instances. I think a damage buffer would help, or at the very least, some sort of evasion.
Ok, so here’s this then. Since you all are expert… whatevers… why don’t you turn this conversation into something constructive like discussing solutions rather than tearing down the idea and just spouting reasons as to why it won’t work. If you’re good at your builds or classes, offer points into solutions instead. It’s easier to tear down an idea than come up with a new one, you know.
I’m going to try my hand at this here.
Granted that there are ways to keep your “pets” alive, you can’t argue that the AI for them (though better than what it was at launch) still needs work. Since the pets are somewhat ‘dumb’ and don’t really retreat from AoE’s, they kind of get wiped really easily without any form of counter. I think this might actually be a viable option for pet survivability without having to mess with the AI too much. Sure, it sounds like a quick temporary fix, but given that the pets don’t evade attacks it would be better if they were more equipped to be the bullet sponges they are. Especially since half the mesmer, guardian, ele, necro, and ranger ‘pets’ remain stationary or run into fields, it’d be nice for them to have a little shielding or resistance to some of that.
It may not be a blanket fix all the way around, but I think it’s on the right track to making the ‘pets’ a more viable solution. And yeah, I can sit here and complain that “A-Net doesn’t do their job,” but offering a solution and having a following for it could help. I mean, hell, we brought Firefly back didn’t we?
They’re obnoxious in the wrong hands. Can we have a “mute” option for them. I personally like playing with my sounds and don’t want to hear the horn/bell/or both.
If you play on either one, you should know if it is an NA or EU server. Don’t be rude. He was nice enough to tell us its up.
Also, fyi, its an NA server.
There’s a whole series of lore left to explore within the Adelbern lineage. Like, you really have to think about how crazy he must’ve become in his last days to, not only sacrifice himself, but his whole entire nation just to keep the charr from winning Ascalon in the end. This is one of the things I love about the Ghosts of Ascalon novel. It explores the area and details the backstory behind Ascalon’s fall. Quite interesting.
What I’m wondering now is what happened to Sohothin, Magdaer’s twin sword. After Eir took it, we don’t hear about it again, so I’m thinking it will pop up in later content. Along with an epic journey to kill the other dragons and possibly seeing the Crystal Desert again, these are pretty exciting things to think about.
Now, character helms disappear in cutscenes. I don’t know if this is intentional or not, but bald Zojja and bald Adelbern look a little weird. I still want to push for a more Adelbern looking head model, but I think I would rather see helms stay on the cutscene characters more now.
They’re probably all on holiday, but I suggest to keep reporting the broken chain event.
The only good quaggan is a… well, you know. Anyway, not to affront the quaggan society, but they do have their place after all. A dead and stuffed quaggan can make a great use in the home as a makeshift table-leg, stool, footrest, garden gnome (to keep those pesky ravens out of my yard), or several other uses for knee-high furniture. I’m sure they’d make good sushi as well as decent quaggan sandwiches (see above). Yes, quaggan are useful. Like cannon fodder for the Hirathi Highlands.
A friend and I are wanting to do Arah Story Mode and it seems that there’s an event chain bugged somewhere. We are on Yak’s Bend server and the dungeon has been inaccessible since yesterday afternoon at the very least. Please fix this soon! I want to finish the game!
How is, “and” “I” “keep” a filtered phrase?
UberQuaggan is coming (what do you think those “karka” critters were running from?). There is still time for you to get right with the quaggans.
Uber Quaggan sounds like an oxymoron ankittenep thinking the word Caca (Mexican word for poop) when I read/hear Karka, which opens up a whole-other can of worms. I have a juvenile sense of humor, I know.
I’ll just leave this here:
Any of those up-and-coming films have Uwe Boll directing them perchance?
I love the quaggan when they’re not around me. Remember, a quaggan should be seen and not heard. My father’s rule for children.
I love the game. Not quaggans. ;]
I’m going to put this out there just because I feel a little positivity must transpire (and subsequently be buried again) amongst all these negative posts. I’m just going to come right out and say first-hand that I AM a Guild Wars 2 fan.
Now, before you get your nerd-rage aflare and your fingers ready to type belittling messages, I am also going to do my best to be practical here. I am aware of some of the more gleaming problems with the game as well as buggy nature of some of it’s aspects. I’ve had some irksome moments with invisible mobs, lag, and several other issues. Outside my fandom, I understand that this game is not perfect and I don’t particularly care to see things that are broken, but to put things in perspective, this is an MMO. Every one of them ships with issues regardless of how many people it takes to build it. Imagine how hard it is to make a game, then tenfold that and consider how difficult it is to make it a game world. There are bound to be mistakes here, there, or everywhere, because when things break, it usually breaks several other things in the process and that’s ok. For the most part, the other sections of the game works, so check them out in that downtime. Or hell, go visit the “big blue room” and do something different.
Now, this is a lot said from someone with an opinion with which to say I’m sure you have your lot to say as well. The game is not perfect and these people are not God, or it would be, but let’s think of alternatives to just bashing them for trying to deliver a feasible experience for their customers. They are good people (whether you agree with me or not), who work hard during the day and sometimes night to deliver this product to you which is, for the most part, free-to-play. Stuff like this costs a little more than your initial $50 to run for the longterm and I think they’re on the right track and mindset to try something new in that regard (and believe me, they are trying), but I digress. Let’s get back to the heart of the matter.
We are all aware there is discontent out there and there always will be. You can’t please everyone. I will say though, that YOU have the potential to change that. There are a good majority of those that are seeking positive ways to submit reports and queries to faulty areas of the game and I applaud you. The ones I am addressing though, are those who sit in chat or here on the forums and do nothing more than post negative comments. Well, ok. You don’t like this, or you don’t like that. Well, what would you do to change it for the better? Give some feedback without putting so much emotion and hatred into it. It’s a game. It can be changed or modified. And really, there’s no need to get that worked up over it. If you feel that strongly about disliking the game after you bought it, you could have waited to demo it during one of the many beta weekends or free weekends. Think of it as a cautionary tale for the next game you buy. Don’t play it anymore and move on. We all do: That’s life.
Personally, I enjoy the game much more than any other MMO I’ve ever played even if it has the same or similar elements in it. They implemented those on behalf of the overwhelming demand for it from their customers of Guild Wars 1. I like the changes because it, not only feels like I’m playing a normal MMO (which I was VERY hesitant about from the get-go), but it doesn’t feel like the usual MMO I’ve played before. The subtle differences are what do it for me and I like it. Again, I know there are some “borken” parts, but let’s be honest: Every game of this type has shipped with errors, up to and including the precious World of Warcraft. Ride out the tide with us. These errors get fixed and then we can move on to griping about more important things like Chuck Norris, George Lucas, and politics.
In a very big nutshell, my point is to state that we should “Keep Calm”^tm. and be more constructive rather than negative about Guild Wars 2 and really any game for that matter. I say that to all players from all aspects. As a fellow gamer, I feel your displeasure at times with the way things run from time to time. With every negative thing though, try to come up with a positive. Help provide feedback without going on a flame-war. And really, if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say it at all. That’s the best advice for anyone.
Also, bring back Firefly.
Narsilik
They should take some quaggan with them; maybe all of them.
This… Oh… by the gods!
Also, the Skritt-style focus should be a cowbell.
And it should make a cowbell noise.
All the time.
Kind of like the Miniature Jungle Troll in regard to annoying noise-making? I say more cowbell! I have the fever you know?
Ok, so I hate quaggans. It’s true. I can’t stand them. At first, I tried to get along and leave them be, but then they started talking and I just couldn’t ignore them anymore. They irritate me so much that I see a quaggan, I turn and run the other way. I hate to leave anything out in the world dead for long, but I hesitate when I see a dead quaggan in need of resurrection. I think, “Will it talk if I revive it?” and immediately shudder when it does. Oh, quaggan…
There was a quaggan the other day with the case of the sillies I suppose. He/she/it started on about needing some assistance but must’ve been dazed by a mesmer as it kept repeating the said line over and over again. Like nails scraped across granite, my ears wanted to leap from my head into a bucket of glass shards and salt. Oh quaggan, my nightmare had come true.
I had a severe dislike for Asura given their boorish attitudes and general unpleasantness. Skritt, too, were irksome because of their infantile nature, but quaggan! OH, the quaggan! I detest them for being themselves and that’s all there is to it.
I could never invite a quaggan to dinner and I will nary be seen around one if I can help it. If allied with one, I will make sure I let it lead the opening charge. Quaggan, I wish I had a more legitimate reason for hating you so, but please understand… if you can…
I don’t wish them ill harm or eradication. I don’t wish any unpleasantness to come their way, but when this mess with the dragons is all over, maybe, just maybe, they will find their way back home. I know they are cherished by some, but here they are not and the better we’ll both be when we’re apart. Oh quaggan. Your oafish nature and your doofish speech are the bane of my existence. I’m sorry, it just is.
So, my promise to you, oh quaggan, is to lead my life as best I can without interfering with your lot, as so much as I ask the same favor in return. We can exist in the same realm and all the while ignore each other at best, but if I hear one more ‘Fooo!’ I may scream. The thought of it makes me ill. Oh quaggan! You irritate me so!

To ArenaNet,
I want to first say that you have done an AMAZING job with this game and that I am thoroughly happy with it on almost every front. There isn’t much I would change to your amazing game, except…
There is one thing that has bothered me since I first eyed him in the beta videos, moreover, the videos for the Ascalonian Catacombs. I lay in wait to see him in all his glory upon final release of the game, but I remain somewhat disappointed. I want to restate, that I think the art team has done a great job with the game, constraints and all, but King Adelbern’s head model seems… lacking. I know you build a majority of the NPCs on the character creator to minimize load I’m sure, but Adelbern being a major player in the Guild Wars universe, I feel he should have been fleshed out a bit more. Looking at this model image from the beta: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/4/4a/King_Adelbern.jpg
the main issue is that the head looks mannican-ish including the crown which doesn’t look very kingly. When comparing it to the painterly Adelbern in the cutscene or even to the Guild Wars 1 model, he looks dollish and seems to be missing hair where he should have at least some.
Going back to replace his head at this point may be moot, but I know I wouldn’t mind the extra load on my system if it were there. I love the legend of King Adelbern which was keenly expanded within the Ghosts of Ascalon novel and I find that I still wish for a little more love given to his appearance in-game. Not that there wasn’t, but for a wild plea from one of Adelbern’s biggest fans, I hope to see him looking more like himself again!
Thank you,
Narsilik Khilsigre
