Gotta love it when someone “starts a discussion” but then won’t listen to anything any one says about anything.
Wait… we shouldn’t improve zeal because no one uses it…? You realize no one uses it because it needs to be improved, right?
Ah dur dur dur.
In my opinion, the problem with dungeons in this game is that there is no real reward for running said dungeon unless you are doing so as part of a rather large grind with an eye on armor sets.
My first character was an asura elementalist, which in my opinion have alot of nice gear skin options from the various armor sets. My next was a norn warrior, and I was very happy to run CoF p1 over and over and outfit him with full berserker armor the moment he hit 80. I’m now working on a human guardian, and literally the only armor set that doesn’t look like a tin can is the arah heavy armor. Now, I have no problem running arah and working hard for my kitten armor. But doesn’t it seem a little silly I can’t find any reasonable motivation to want to run anything else? Oh great, I just did a dungeon. I get 5-6 blues. Whoopee.
There’s no real reward unless you are actively grinding that particular armor set. Seems like a pretty badly designed system.
Wow, sweet build, gonna try it.
So… just to be clear, you want each tick of the healing cone to heal for your full healing power?
Now that wouldn’t be absurd or anything.
I must say, while I very much enjoy my D/D bunker set up, it does seem pretty rediculous that we don’t have something in fire/earth/air that actually fits the bill of the supposed vision for the class. I signed up to blow kitten up! Where’s the splosions?
To my knowledge, there is not parser’s as of yet for this game, which I believe is because dps really is not a caster’s main concern like it often is in other games. On top of that, I’m sad to say, Ele is not the place to be if you want to be the most competitive damage dealer. We excel at flexibility, support, and do reasonable but not great damage. You can spec full power/prec/crit % and hit pretty hard, but you’ll also die to a stiff breeze. If that is truly what you want, I’d say grind out some CoF and get berserker stats.
It does vary depending on what you are trying to do. Many people agree that Knight’s gear is the best way to go for armor. I’m currently using gear with a nice spread between toughness, vitality, power, and healing power. This is mostly due to the fact that I like to not die.
You can get the skill point regardless. Just run up, clear a few mobs, commune, and done.
Generally speaking, here is how most combats with D/D go for me using the 0/10/0/30/30 build.
I try to start in air so I can air4 into combat (assuming it’s safe). If there’s multiple targets, I’ll air5 before air2 (yes, it’s good). I’ll then start stacking might- switch to fire, fire3>fire2>fire4, switch to earth, earth4>dodgeroll into the fire4 ring for six stacks. Then I’ll earth2>switch to air, air2>air1.
At this point, your fire4 should be off cd, so you can start the fire>earth chain again to continue stacking might, replace earth4 with earth 5 as needed.
I generally just switch to water as needed (this will be fairly often, and I try to time it so that it doesn’t disrupt the fire>earth sequence). Also pay attention to your water and air auras to keep up swiftness and vigor.
It says this in daphoenix’s guide, but the runes you want are not clerics, but monks. Use 2x superior monk (from AC), 2x major water, and 2x sup water for max boon duration.
Let me clarify- not only has it remained contested, the events to open the temple never occur.
I watched it literally from noon till 11 p.m. yesterday, the temple of melandru event never triggered. All the other temples went in out of contestation a dozen times. Very frustrating! Fort Aspen NA
Honestly, I love my elementalist. I always have a blast playing it. I find success to be very rewarding, because when I beat someone I know I earned it. My biggest problem is that anet’s written intention for the class doesn’t even come close to actual game play. They say in the description of the class, right here on this very website, that elementalists are supposed to make up for their low defense by dealing massive damage.
At least change the description, guys! It should probably read something like “very skilled players can eek out small edges over baddies over long drawn out fights.”
Dagger/Dagger, and run like hell!
