Shiro’s skill actually works even if you activate it then invoke another legend.
So does Glint heal.Your point? If you have to use second healing skill to actually survive then you just gave me a proof that Shiro healing ability is terrible.
My point is that every other profession has 1 heal on 1 timer. Revenant gets two heals on two timers.
On other professions, you can’t just use the heal then switch to a different heal and use that. Basically Shiro + Glint or Shiro + Jalis or even Glint + Jalis is supposed to be the same one heal for any other profession.
Shiro’s heal is absolutely fine, it’s inconvenient as it’s not a traditional heal and requires some preparation to actually use effectively. Try using it at 70% hp instead of 20% and see the difference.
Shiro’s skill actually works even if you activate it then invoke another legend. The heal still works. Technically you can activate Shiro’s heal then switch to Jalis and activate that heal as well, effectively giving you two heals.
The best thing about it is that it needs to only be activated and then you can switch to a different legend and move on. It’s actually quite good once you start using it with other legends.

Get all Power/Precision/Ferocity gear and basically switch between the two stances. With Dwarf you can pull 5-10 mobs, aoe them down and if your health starts getting low just switch to staff.
Axe is for mobility, feel free to use a sword as well for more survivability if you wish.
Condition damage on a Revenant is not very good in PvE as it requires the NPCs to be moving to do full damage, which they just don’t seem to want to do when they need to!
Edit: If you pop the heal in Shiro, then switch to dwarf it will still heal you. You can also use the Dwarf heal to remove conditions but the hammers should always be on when fighting even one NPC.

Why settle for a hammer when you can go with a machine gun instead! :P
2h hammer would kinda neat though, but 1h mace I don’t like mainly because I don’t like 1h maces!
As long as you use elixir B & U, the third slot you can do whatever really.
You won’t get the full damage out of the grenade kit & flame thrower until 60+ so I would recommend pistol/pistol for pve for faster killing of stuff then rifle. (It has more AOE).
At 60+ either pick grenades and spec for it or FT and go that route.
Turrets are awesome for a couple of things:
- #1 use is for farming bags or mats at lower level areas
(just deploy turrets and run around killing other stuff while your turrets clear an area, then come back, loot & repeat)
- sPvP holding a point
(if you spread them out, some players go out of their way to kill them first or just give up trying to take the point entirely, it’s more of a psychological thing and won’t fool anyone who is experienced really)
Otherwise, turrets are fairly useless even while leveling. At lower levels they help but 60+ you don’t want to ever look at them again unless you are using them to do the #1 reason I said above.
This is only for damage turrets.
Healing & net turrets are awesome! Net especially if coupled with the rifle.
I’ve set up my set to be roughly at:
38% crit
25% crit damage
1800 toughness
just shy of 20k HP
Mix and matching the gear somewhat but it gives some great results and allows for some good AOE farming with the flame thrower.
Does not work so well in WvW as with the Grenade build though since you are medium range.
Still open for recruitment!
Feel free to contact me in game under Nautix if you have any questions. You can always visit us at http://www.guardianhq.com as well!
Happy New Year from The Guardians!
We are still recruiting, activities took a break during the holiday but we are returning back with:
- Random event Mondays
- WvW Wednsdays
- Dungeon Night Thursday
- Every other night is member activity encouraged, previous stated events are not mandatory either!
Weekly WvW, PvE (dungeon) events and constant sPvP await you!
Yes, but if this thief had the same player skill u have, u would have had no chance. Elixier S identifys an engineer? Every class has escape skills… get serious.
If he was better, I would have no chance either.
There are different things that work in different situations. The key is to pick and chose the play style that helps you against the professions you are having trouble with.
I am not saying that the engineer is on par with professions 100%. I just think that warning other people to stay away from this awesomely fun profession is a bad move.
It’s fun, at least for me. Easy to tell since 97% of my sPvP games are on engineer and the last three guardian/mesmer/thief. The reason I picked those professions is so I can learn to counter them because I had problems with them at first.
See we dont have a build that can hold its own well. Thiefs have the 24/7 stealth and instant 15,000 damage builds, warriors have thousands blades, mesmers (this is the one I see most often) is the clone spam/blurred frenzy build. If engineer still had a build that held its own in pvp then I’m sure much less of us would be complaint. Instead our only build, grenades, which people considered “op” (Which really wasn’t, it was mediocre at best) got nerfed hard every single class patch while their op builds go untouched.
I would recommend experimenting with you engineer and learning the class in pvp before complaining.
Thief 15000 dmg, clones on mesmer & thousand blades – All easily countered by elixir s
I’ve had tons of thieves jump me with the heartstrike just to waste all of their initiative on elixir s and then I just cc destroy them.
That’s just one example of how to counter them. I’ll let you figure out the rest!
If you don’t like the engineer then by all means play something else, warning others not to play a class that you personally don’t like is not a great thing to do.
I have played engineer since launch in both sPvP and PvE and i love the profession. It’s not a pure support or damage spec that works. You just have to figure out what you enjoy and do it.
It’s not like you have to play other professions from scratch now is it!
We are still looking for active players. Feel free to check us out at http://www.guardianhq.com
You can also message me with any questions you might have or contact me in game!
You can always just browse for me and send me a message, the name is same as on here “Nautix”.
I am usually around the forums more then I am in game anyways heh!
Greetings,
The Guardians is a mature multi-game gaming community that was originally formed for Star Wars Galaxies. We currently have four divisions, and the Guild Wars 2 division on Isle of Janthir is recruiting!
We currently boast more than 200 members with a variety of playtime and activity levels. We have every guild upgrade (both PvE and PvP) purchased, and run buffs to magic find and xp for our members the large majority of the time.
We are a true PvX guild and run 4-5 Guild Events every week. These events range from scheduled dungeon night, to WvWvW groups, to WvWvW seminars for new players, to jumping puzzles, to RP events, to alt groups.
The Guild Wars 2 division uses mumble primarily, but we have ventrilo servers available as well. We are also active in the alliance at www.isleofjanthir.net. We have 0 guild taxes, and fund all our events through voluntarily contributions. We are further involved in RL charity and exercise initiatives-we raised over $2000 for Children’s Hospitals in October.
We welcome all playstyles and ages. If you are a mature gamer looking for a home for your Guild Wars 2 gaming, please check us out at http://www.guardianhq.com. Otherwise, feel free to get ahold of any The Guardians member in game, and they will put you in touch with an officer, or you can contact me directly in game under Nautix.

Guardians Lead the Way!
I have no problems killing 3+ things at a time like most of the posters here, engineer is probably the most AOE heavy profession.
What I have problems with and takes FOREVER… is single target dps. Engineer is lacking in the single target burst damage quite a bit compared to other professions.
I actually really like Blowback and don’t want to see it changed. Main reason being that once the target is pushed back you can still hit it with your Flamejet ability while they are getting up and running back to you.
Pistol 3 does great damage against two targets, when it bounces multiple times. It also does confusion, which tends to hurt quite a bit. Sure, 5 is utility, but then again, almost all the weapon sets amongst all the classes have at least 1 utility skill.
But I agree, the engineer is sorely lacking some proper single target (burst) damage.
I just read my comment again and while you did get the message I meant to say I realized I had it wrong heh. Yes, I did mean single target burst dps. The #3 on pistol is amazing for 2-3 targets but just very weak on 1.
Grenades > anything else on the engineer. That is even before the 30 points in Explosions….
I think dual pistols and traited grenades are both very dps oriented sets with little utility.
Grenades more so then pistol, but pistol’s 3 & 5 are more CC then anything. Engineer also seems to be all AoE damage. It would be nice for something to be single target damage. I guess the rifle is but still heavy on CC.
I would rather see the current ones fixed first.
Yes, pretty much this. We don’t need more kits. We need the current ones fixed.
The one issue with the engineer is that it seems to be the only class that does not have one weapon combo/kit that is pure dps. Everything seems to have some type of support built into it for 2 of the 5 attacks.
