Apologies for the long post!

Welcome to the 2016 Postcards & Pigeons event!

The short version of this event: Submit screenshots in the specific categories for fame and have usable/collectible cardstock postcards mailed to you (for free!). Also additional prizes to come as we get them sorted out.

What am I talking about?

While it’s a bit of an archaic thing, sending a postcard is still a common way of correspondence and a cheap (and fun) way of commemorating places you’ve seen or things you’ve done. Personally, I’ve collected them for years, and, with the recent National Postcard Week, I’ve decided to put together a small community event, and I hope you’ll celebrate with me!

In that, go into Guild Wars 2 and take screenshots of your favorite things. There are several categories to participate in, and we all know how great this game is for screenshots, so if you already do this on the regular, there’s no reason not to participate. We’ll have a panel of judges from our guild [POW] that rank each in the categories.

How many postcards are you giving away?

• 1st place in any category gets all 4 sets (12 postcards).
• 2nd place in any category gets 3 of 4 sets (9 postcards).
• 3rd place in any category gets 2 of 4 sets (6 postcards).
• 4th place in any category gets 1 of 4 sets (3 postcards).

30 additional participants will be randomly chosen to have one set each mailed to them.

What are the categories for the GW2 section?

- Landscape – The world is beautiful, and we’re just a small part of it. Take a screenshot where the focus is the world, not yourself. (Aim to minimize your character ratio, or go in first person.)
- Selfies – Smile for the camera! Show off your character – whether it be scary, pretty or interesting.
- Scene – Find an interesting group of otters curled up? A strange view of the hippies in Florin? Capture the moment.
- Action – Get that epic shot of you wrestling a bear? Fighting ogres to save that little kitten?

How long do I have?

The submission period will go from today (May 14th) until Monday, May 30th, at 3PM EST (or noon PST). We won’t be accepting anything after this time, unless you bribe us with really adorable cat pictures … I mean, what?

Some more additional rules:

- The UI must be hidden. Do this with CTRL + H.
- The screenshots can only be of GW2 (or BDO – see details).
- The higher quality the better. We’re printing at 300 dpi. Standard screenshot at high is sufficient.
- SweetFX, Photoshop or any other standard graphical manipulation is allowed; however adding content to images that is not natively in the game is not.
- Original work only – don’t steal!
- One entry per category.
- Anyone can enter this contest!
- Make sure you follow all (four) of the short submission guidelines.

How do I submit?

There are two ways to submit your entries.

1. Post it in this forum thread! Upload an image to Imgur, Photobucket or any supporting image service, and post it with a link in an entry post containing your other information (see below).

2. Email entries to pow.zorav@gmail.com.

Make sure to include the image and the information requested below:

- Character name / Account Name
- Which game it’s for (GW2)
- What category you’re going for with each image.
- Are you interested in receiving postcards? (If yes, and your name is drawn, we’ll contact you for details later.)
- Optional: Name the image!

What quality are these postcards / how will I get my postcards?

The postcards are printed on white 100lb paper, with standard postcard framing dimensions within 4×6 in. It will include the creator’s name, and the title if they provided one.

Once the contest is done, we will contact all those who have been chosen / won and request information. At any point, you can tell us to bugger off.

That said, it’s an internet world, and, of course, I could be some crazy person looking for an address to send all the internet kittens to. On one hand, you don’t have to get postcards, and you can just bask in the fame of being an awesome screenshot enthusiast. On the other hand, we (POW, my gaming community) have done these events before, and still regularly send out birthday cards and holiday card. So, it’s your choice. :)

Additional notes:

• We are also running this in BDO, so if you’re interested in submitting photos for that, please feel free. You are allowed to enter in both versions.

Welcome to all the new and old travellers of Tyria. I hope you’re as excited as we are for all the new changes to the game and the upcoming expansion.

That said, we are Powertrip [POW], a 400 plus band of cheerful (quirky) PvXers who can be found in just about every aspect of Guild Wars 2. Nearing three years old, our goal is to make you feel at home, while being a community event guild that enjoys engaging and entertaining.

• PvX – We do a little of everything, but with a strong focus on PvE and community events. There is also no rep requirement – come and go as you see fit, but it’s encouraged as we love to hear from you – and magic find and karma buffs are constant (with others activated on request).

• Though originally founded on the Isle of Janthir, the megaservers have allowed us to happily welcome members from any North American server, and the members of our 400 plus strong roster call a variety of different servers home.

• As noted, [POW] is heavily involved in community events – we run a nightly World Boss Train (where we go around and defeat each of the 22(ish) world bosses in Tyria for money, loot, and hilarity), weekly Guild Missions, and hold a Biweekly Lottery and Monthly Giveaway, and regularly host all manner of events for everyone to enjoy and get a shot at winning some fabulous prizes. Our favorites are definitely our holiday events – such as our Secret Santa events and our New Year’s Raffle.

• We have a privately owned Teamspeak 3 server, and we welcome any member and their friends to come and hang out with us.

Hey fellow GW2 (ers?):

As an extension of POW’s Jumpathon, this month we’ll be portalling Scavenger’s Chasm today at 6:30PM EST (30 minutes before reset). For those not familiar with the jumping puzzle, it requires you to find 12 orbs hidden throughout the puzzle, and bring them back to the chest room. We have mesmers and guides located throughout the room; all you need to do is show up at Pagga’s Waypoint (link is [&BKYCAAA=]) on the specified IP (IP 137) between 6:15 to 6:30 PM EST (check with /ip) and follow us when we take off at 6:30. (If you’re late, just whisper us. We’ll be happy to help.)

We’ll be doing all 12 orbs before redoing ports on all of the orbs. All calls will be in map chat, so watch out for those. This is said to be the longest jumping puzzle in GW2, but we’re striving to make it relatively hassle free. Come get the free achievement points!

Some fast things…

• If you need help at ANY point during the event, please whisper Zorav or Keisee.

• Please taxi on Zorav if you’re in the wrong instance. (If you’re not sure how to do this, just whisper and a party invite will be sent to you. /ip is the fast way to check what instance you’re in.)

• We appreciate portalling help, but please refrain from doing so until all 12 of the initial orbs are complete! That way, people don’t get confused on which orb we’re getting.

• Watch for yellow tags! They’ll be designating portal points.

• We are a NA guild; we apologize to EU, but hope you can set something up for your servers <3.

• We’ll probably move out a little after 6:30EST, just so that everyone can get in the right map and start dancing.

Late Happy Halloween adventurers!

From what I recall, it was just too ridiculous as a means of a farm, so they removed all of the champions aside from the legendaries that spawn.

Which storyline is this?

Hey everyone.

So, this seems I ran into a silly bug but I’m just frustrated and one of those people that gets annoyed when I can’t finish an achievement – I’ve done all of the champions (Blade, Hammer, Gun, Edge and Shield) at least three times each now, and haven’t been able to get the achievement. (I’ve tallied it up on a post it note and caught some screens as well of the complete.)

Any thoughts and is any one else having these problems?

Someone add me, if that’s okay? I got kicked in my overflow’s last stage before death and relogged to the end. I’d love to actually finish one.
