Guild Wars 2

So I got GW2 upon release and smashed through the game and hit lvl 80 in like, 5 days. I haven’t played since and recently am really badly wanting to come back. For the past few days, along with the hours now where I am currently downloading the game, I have been searching the internet and these forums like a rabid dog trying to gather information and plan out a build for myself. I decided asking for the help of the forum community would be a last resort and here I am, I am still clueless. It’s been hours and I just cant seem to figure it out. So please, help me if you can.

I have played WoW my entire life as a Ret Paladin. I don’t play much anymore, but I would like to have a similar playstyle in GW2. I would love a general damage build that has alright survivability, good burst and can stay alive. I want to be viable in PvE but I want to be an asset in PvP aswell and I would Preferably wield a GS.

I don’t know, the reason I quit GW2 in the first place back near release was because the Armor situation was so confusing. I didn’t know exactly what to spend Karma on or what gear I should get from Dungeons etc… and I was just overwhelmed. I’m really just trying to avoid this from happening again.
