This is awesome. Saw it on GW2 Facebook. Will bring an alt to run one of these nights.
LOCATION: Divinity’s Reach. Just N of Maiden’s Whisper, there is a NPC named Chikage standing next to a book cart. Her dialog has a minor spelling error.
When a player chooses to talk with Chikage, it reads:
“Oh, they didn’t all come from the charr. Although I believe a few of the independent presses maight be made from old unused wine presses.”
Should be “might.”
I am crashing in WVW too…

I endorse all of these fine commanders. They all do a great job keeping my kingdom safe and the bloodthirsty Maguuman zerg well fed.
For those about to rock, I salute you.
KING YAMMA X NEVES (REX MAGUUMA) [WH]
They already fixed the stealth problem by getting rid of C&D stealth off of WvW walls. Thief is a stealth class (or have you guys never played an RPG with a thief class…) There are ways to counter a thief. Learn them.
And OP, you would get owned by any moderately good player…
It greatly depends on play style. Is condition damage great if you are hitting 30+ with 5, no it is not. Is condition damage great in a 1vX where you are built to outlast your opponents, yes.
I agree with this. CD against small groups is very effective when you are trying to get everybody to blow their cleanse cooldowns. Apply just one set of conditions, wait to see it clear, spam CD and then switch to burst. Having a good balance of both CD and burst, I’ve found, works really well.
I always have to mute the game when this happens. Will have to try playing with sound settings.
So I’m wondering how that water fight at West Keep FA went last night? I got invited by the other Commander but (wisely) turned it down and saved me and my guild a bath! All this talk of water makes me thirsty: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rU-KVObNEd4
Details please. FA or MAG. /popcorn

Guys, I hate to break it to you, it’s just an icon. Look: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Commander
Yes but with that icon comes the power to control all noobies on the map who have no other idea of what to do except “follow the blue arrow” which allows them to learn basic tactics (if the commander isn’t completely incompetent)(see my above post for fix).
Control all noobies? LOL. ANet source please? That type of mindset is where reality and fantasy about the icon’s role diverge.
Guys, I hate to break it to you, it’s just an icon. Look: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Commander
The system doesn’t need to change, player perceptions toward the icon need to change. The blue icon is a map location marker, a blip on the radar, not much more, and I don’t think it was intended to be by the developer.
Speaking from my own experience, buying a Commander icon can be a giant headache because of the many tears from same-team Commanders and other players who just can’t stand that you might attract other players to your icon.
The icon should be viewed as an optional location on the battlefield where you’ll find at least one player to battle alongside.
Same-team Commanders who are taking an objective or have strategy on a whole other part of the map shouldn’t expect that another Commander should drop what they’re doing and go, or suffer bathing in the tears of their guild over PM, insisting that the other Commander turn off his icon because plans and location don’t jive.
Also, if a group wipes, don’t blame a Commander. Get up and try again. It’s like wiping in a dungeon; you wipe, repair, and hoof it back out onto the field for vengeance.
Really dead out in EB today. Not nearly the numbers Maguuma had in the field over the last couple weeks. We have good defense, committed players, but our offense needs to improve dramatically, starting by attacking the weaker of our two formidable opponents, not the one who steamrolls us every time we flinch. /protip
Siege already has no max targets, and superior arrow carts and ballistas can do the job just fine.
This. ^ There are a few tools in-game that can already drop zergs dead.
Playing YB and IoJ is so fun it inspired me to draw a picture of what I saw in EB all week.
YB, you tried to brute force Overlook and we pushed you back, you’re going to get camped for a minute. Any action has an equal and opposite reaction. >:)
lol 12 people is brute forcing it… vs 30+ magzergmas. Yeah, hokay. /eyeroll
Were you even there? YB portal bombed north gate with two golems, pushed with another golem and there were at least 30 Yaks, maybe more – I couldn’t see because of culling. Hokay?

Its a bit late, but the results of commander training showing. How many commanders does it take to beat a break out event?
Maguuma, the non-zerg server who brought you stacking now introduces the new and improved Commander Zerg! Embrace the zerg! It’s good for your fun levels.
OMG Commmander Zzzzerg! LMAO! SO true. Hey YB and IoJ, the real players on Maguuma were holding down the EB. At the end of my shift, I talked to a YB Commander who PMed me and congratulated Maguuma on our play. Good sports even though we do spawn camp them and choo-choo over them when we get rolling, but so do you guys! Anyway, YB, you tried to brute force Overlook and we pushed you back, you’re going to get camped for a minute. Any action has an equal and opposite reaction. >:)
The zerlings in that video were like moths to a bug zapper. No fault, but their own.
Yeah that video just shows a combination of good choke point play coupled with a low-IQ zerg who stands in the kitten.
…what…
Exarthious, you’re full of it. Please do provide proof of you killing ~55 players with your 1 group.
Ya, I gotta kinda call BS on this one, too. I can see 1:3 odds, so if you had a group of like 15-20, you could take down a ball that big, if you and your team are so dang good or have mad siege up.
Why shouldn’t a smaller group have the tools to kill a larger group if they outplay them?
This.
AoE should stay as it is and players need to learn to use it/avoid it effectively as most of the time AoE is imperative in pulling off field combos. Using effective AoE, small groups can control and beat back large numbers using choke points and AoEs, forcing opposing raids to rethink their path, thus adding a layer of depth to the game. Decreasing AoE will only encourage people to stand around in red circles; nerfing AoE damage would diminish reactive combat gameplay.
I’m going to stick with the official unofficial BP official line here:
There is no way, whatsoever, that Maguuma has gotten any transfers. We simply just play better than everyone else and all of our PvE’rs came to fight in WvW for reset night.
I agree. Maguuma does it better.

0/10 for OP for starting a trakittenalk/butt-kiss thread about Commanders. Stop hating peeps who roll with their icon on in PvE. Did you ever stop to think the icon is useful in big PvE situations? Besides, a Commander is only as good as the size of their zerg and siege. Kill red stuff, knock down doors. It’s not science or even strategy, nerds. 10/10 for me, the best Commander of all. Rolling my icon 24/7. BEEP BEEP HATERS!
Thanks for the advice Esplen. I do take into account all of the costs, even down to how much it takes to deconstruct leathers and post sales on TP. I understand the math (even though I hate and suck at math). I wonder though if it benefits a rich person to pump that much profit into the marketplace when I could easily diversify/spend the profits. Although I agree market manipulation is a risk inherent in every market. I like hearing new methods of making money – like crafting with lodestones – but that would be a lot of work.
Hi, I am a beginner at playing the TP, but I was luck enough to notice a couple nights ago (Jan. 1 -2) there a significant spike in the price of Coarse Leather Squares.
I spent about two gold deconstructing level 40 to 45 leather armors for around 45c to 60c apiece, refining the resulting sections, and turning around and selling stacks of the refined squares for a lot of money; I was getting at least 150% profit per square at one point during the spike, which you can see on the attachment. (A screenshot of http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/19734 – If you go to the link and can’t see the chart up to Jan. 1-2, refresh your page.)
Of course, the price of the Coarse Cured Leather Squares has gone way down since the big spike, but the demand remains is staying high and looks like it is in an upward trend, but I am new at this and can’t be sure.
Would it be a good idea to stay in this market of Coarse Cured Leather Squares?
Any advice, opinions, or insight would really be appreciated!
I didn’t get any rewards from Tixx, and couldn’t loot the chest either.
