“This rose has thorns – here they are!” lol sorry.. I couldn’t help it
I’m using onboard Realtek audio as well, (7.1 CH HD Audio – ALC898 Audio Codec) and found that swapping the center / subwoofer has worked for me.
Go to the Realtek HD Audio Manager and make sure that you have the proper setting listed on the “Speaker Configuration” menu, there will be a check box toward the bottom (in the center) that is the option for “Swap Center / Subwoofer Output” – try checking that box.
(The Realtek HD Audio Manager will be an orange speaker icon, located on your task bar – near the time)
My apologies if this doesn’t help!

Can you describe this “nuclear claxon mode”?
Does it sound like an extremely loud alarm going off constantly?
@PowerCat – thank you for recording the sound issue
I’ve been experiencing the same sound bug since the beginning of GW2, no clue what causes it.
I’ve noticed that usually when I hit the “back” button (go back a page) on my browser that it usually will not keep going back to the pages I previously visited. Instead it goes back a page (possibly two) and then keeps refreshing the page I was on. I’m guessing that this is do to the forum being treated by Mozilla Firefox as though it were a page where you place information into it?
Is this working as intended?

Ticket #121231-000604
Violation report regarding an individual who is sound spamming using the choir bell.
Thanks!
Changing my sound quality to the middle of the slider fixed this issue permanently for me, not sure what other solutions there are.
We really need action by Anet to fix this issue.
I don’t know how bad it is on the other servers, but we’ve got at least one of these people who loves to follow zergs in WvW and constantly blast the choir bell.. for literally hours on end. He’s been reported for spamming endlessly – to absolutely no avail. I’ve gone as far as to open a ticket (screenshots included), but to be honest I don’t believe anything will happen.
Regardless, please do something that actually fixes this, Anet.
I was simply stating the perceived intentions of the developers. (What they intended when creating the profession)
Thank you to all of you, I really appreciate the input.
I crafted my first Exotic for my DPS set a couple of weeks ago, and will be using this information to craft a full-on healing set
Thanks! I appreciate the reply
I play a standard 0/0/10/30/30 support on my Ele and would like your opinions as to what stats (gear wise) best suit such a build. The role in focus here would be one of PvE + general WvW (not specialized for WvW particularly)
Currently I am using a mix of Cleric’s and Shaman’s gear, but I cannot help but feel that I’m doing something wrong here.
So.. what three stats do you think are best for a “healing”, or support Elementalist?
Although it would be extremely useful, having playing an Elementalist as my main character from the beginning I feel it’s unnecessary. We are not given this in an attempt to keep the playing field balanced. Yes, I use a staff and my builds are build around that weapon. That being said, I do very much so enjoy using the other weapon combinations. (In other words, this isn’t my opinion simply because I don’t switch weapons often)
The fact that we can switch between four attunements, each with their own set of unique abilities already far exceeds the amount of abilities that the other professions can use in a single session of online play, even if they do switch back and forth between weapon sets.
Hopefully this will be fixed with the next patch.
Like the others, I have both halves of the key.. No dice.
I am having the same exact problem that phamtrinl is having. It sounds like some sort of alarm. It’s VERY loud, and will stay in a loop until you close the client. I’ve had it happen while using both the onboard sound (Realtek 7.1 chip) and while using my Logitech g930 headset.
I’ve had this issue happen many times within the last week. It’s happened while in Lion’s Arch, WvW, Dungeons, and out in the world as well.. Pretty much anywhere, this same issue is happening to me.
I would love to be able to replay my favorite storyline missions. For example, The Battle For Claw Island. These storyline missions have had so much time, energy and thought put into creating them that it’s definitely worth playing them a second (3’rd, or 4’th) time. I know this is possible because of the way that Trion created the chronicles inside Rift.
I understand that the chronicles were created for a different reason, as well as obviously operate much differently than our storyline missions, I am referring more to the way they were instanced separately from the rest of the game.
Yes, the storyline missions are re-playable in their current state, but as far as I know it’s not possible unless you create a new character, and then level until you can make the choices that landed you there in the first place.
Please let me make this clear – I am not asking to play these repeatedly for the sake of XP and loot whatsoever. I think it would actually be a good idea to NOT give out XP / loot for repeating a storyline mission, because that way the only reason people would replay them is for the experience that we originally had when first doing these things.
Thank you in advance for any / all replies,
Newport
