Exotics are so easy to get… it’s a little naive to think there wouldn’t be something better and harder to get eventually.

Fantastic! Thank you for this! Working great on a 5870 Crossfire setup running Win 8. Possible slight dip in FPS but I would need to run benchmarks to confirm.

It’s definitely that they don’t care. They’re quick enough to respond to threads that praise them, you can see that right now based on the topics that have official responses to them.

In their defense they have responded to the complaints. “Thank you all very much for your feedback about this issue. We’ve already informed the team about all the concerns expressed in this thread, and they’ll look into it. Thanks again.” (wouldn’t link for some reason)

Translate that as you wish but I don’t believe that the complaints fall on deaf ears. I don’t feel they need to constantly reply to the same complaint more than once. Now we just wait to see what is done about it in the future.

I don’t get it. Players decide to throw good money after bad over some pixels, then decide that Anet, a profit-driven enterprise when I last checked, is doing the wrong thing?

I’ve thrown no $ into this. I’m arguing that philosophically it is a negative and predatory business practice.

There are ways of making money that don’t resort to gambling. Just offer the skins for a fixed set of gems. PROBLEM SOLVED.

Or if those people knew that it was that much of a gamble before hand, there wouldn’t be as many angry people.

I bought 10 keys which opened about 16-18 chest. I didn’t get anything. Thats when I realized… wait a minute… this isn’t what I was expecting. I’m not here to gamble with real money. So I stopped. Those who bought hundreds of keys, yeah, they should have stopped when they realized this wasn’t what they thought. Some people do have to take some responsibility and not blame it all on ANet. Either way, doesn’t make what ANet did an easier pill to swallow.

I don’t think people like the OP understand what a lot of players are angry about. Rare items are fine, I like them too, but when you hit your customer base with a bait and switch tactic, people are going to get angry.

Let me put this into different prospective I call the McDonalds plan. We all know McDonalds does their Monopoly game every year (or more than once a year.) You buy food, you get a chance to win prizes. Same idea applies here. You buy Gems to get keys to open chest for a chance to win prizes. Same idea, different markets. Here is the difference. McDonalds is required BY LAW to show the odds of winning each prize. This is to prevent McD from making it seem like it is easy to win only to find out later that your odds of winning that Nintendo DS were actually 1/1,000,000. That way it’s up to the consumer to determine whether or not they want to take those odds.

What ANet did (or what the perception is to those who bought keys) is do what I described above but without explaining that these drops were actually extremely rare. (Extreme being that there are a lot of cases of people who opened 200 chest without a single drop.) People see it as a tactic that is literally illegal in other markets.

I haven’t seen this yet, but I don’t think it will be that bad. I do pretty well at Shelter’s. Do the mobs still keep running toward the camp after they are hit or do they go after the attacker? I ask because if they divert, it could kill the bot, and then they wouldn’t be randomly raised by people trying to get their loot. We could let them stay dead.

Why is there no PvE/PvP split?

So far most “PvP-inspired” changes have been for the good in PvE, including today’s greatsword changes for the Guardian

Elementalist pretty much lost a helpful PvE ability in Glyph of Renewal. I can see how in 5v5 PvP that skill was OP but in PvE it was helpful for large events where there are fields of dead players. I can’t see myself using it at all now that it doesn’t revive dead players. In a lot of situations, just reviving players will be faster than the cast timer if the player is down and not dead. There is really no use for the skill now in PvE.

Also… whirlwind. As if fighting under water wasn’t hard enough.
