Dev Responses/Feedback on Forums

1. What many people have noticed about Dev (Reds) responses/feedback on the forums:

Its rare, and you’re lucky if you get it at all.

2. Reasons that we don’t receive responses/feedback:

a) The Devs just don’t see our posts

b) The Devs see our posts, but are WAY too busy to say anything

c) The Devs see our posts and decide to ignore them because its not important

3. Reasons why Dev response/feedback is important:

a) Provides realistic answers to questions

b) Can clear up mass confusion

c) Shows that they care about our interest in the game

4. The current experience on the forums:

Step 1) Player creates a thread with a question about current/upcoming content

Step 2) Player waits for a response

Step 3) Other players respond with speculative answers that are mostly just their “2 cents”

Step 4) The speculation grows wildly out of control

Step 5) Players start to feel that a simple reply by a dev could clear things up

Step 6) Other players jokingly reply “too bad Anet will never comment on this”

Step 7) The thread dies off because its filled with useless speculation and nothing conclusive

5. What i’m NOT expecting out of the Devs:

I’m NOT expecting them to respond to EVERY thread and EVERY question

I’d like to go back to topic # 2 and talk a bit about it. Both points A and B are highly unlikely to be true. If you take a quick visit to the forum subsection titled “Dev Tracker” it shows Dev activity on these forums. Also, there a few posts here and there which did get Dev attention. So clearly at least the thread titles are being read given the fact that certain threads DO get attention. This brings me to point C. If Anet puts up a future patch release page, with minimal details, then there is probably going to be a population of players interested enough in the new content to create threads about it. These threads will most often contain questions that can be quickly cleared up by most Devs. The problem is that they aren’t. If a teacher says “next week we have a midterm” and a student replies “on what chapters?” i would expect the teach to reward that students interest with a valuable answer. As for the students who didn’t show up or ask any questions i think they got what they deserved. It would be pretty disrespectful of the teacher to just look that student dead in the face, decide that that question isn’t worth answering, and just completely ignore that student. Thats what i feel that these Devs are doing. There are threads which have thousands of views and hundreds of replies yet they get 0 attention by the Devs. If you take a look at any post either generated by a Dev or commented on by a Dev you’ll quickly see that it has an enormous amount of views and replies. The reason for that is because we WANT DEV INTERACTIONS ON THE FORUM when we have questions. Why are we being ignored?

*probably won’t get a Dev response on this…

Ascended Weapons (Why you don't need them)

In PvE I think its 1k more if you have 100% or slightly more crit damage. Scales even more with Banner of discipline.

I assume you’re referring to the full ascended setup with power infusions. The base attack of that setup is 433 for a rifle auto attack. A crit is 1.5x the base attack. That setup has an extra 82% crit damage which makes it 433*(1.5+0.82) per crit or 1005 per crit. So you dont need 100+% crit damage.

Not rifle but GS. And theres is a second slot for sigil to increase damage. If its at night you can add another 5% more damage. You have not factored in armor (or lack thereof) and skill coefficient into your calculations as well. And most zerk warriors have more than 100% crit damage.

In zerg vs zerg it would matter if everyone in Zerg A had ascended AOE weapons esp 2h with extra sigil and everyone in Zerg B had only exos.

In my original post i explain the full details of the setup. It includes a superior sigil of accuracy and full exotic armor with ruby orbs. I also state the trait point setup. Im not saying that zerker warriors dont have more than 100% crit damage. What i am saying is that you dont need that amount of crit damage to hit 1k with a rifle 1-skill.

Why is everyone so worked up over getting ascended weapons? I understand that it’s BIS, but has anyone actually looked at the work/reward ratio here? Here’s the setup i used to create my values: Warrior—Berserker Rifle—Accuracy Sigil—Berserker Armor—Ruby Orbs—Berserker Accessories—30/20/20/0/0—Rifle Auto Attack for Base Damage

When comparing a setup where the difference is only an ascended weapon vs an exotic weapon you can see that the avg. attack difference is 39 damage per attack. Even after 100 basic attacks the ascended weapon only produces 3900 more damage. Was all that work really worth it? In fact, if you look at the table you’ll notice that a setup which chooses ascended accessories over an ascended weapon is slightly better. Its possible to have 6 ascended accessories in 4 weeks considering you earn them all at the same time. This would allow you to have 45 AR without even having 1 crafting profession.

The only major advantage i see here is the additional AR. So unless your running super high lvl fractals on all 8+ characters you own its probably a good idea to stop and take quick breather. Stop QQing about how you’re going to “HAVE TO” craft like 40+ ascended weapons.

So basically get into the balloon, then cut scene, and then arrive at destination?

“Need a lift to Divinity’s Reach? The Queen’s court has sent out hot air balloons to transport celebrants! Find one of these balloons out in the open world, and use it to find the party in short order.”

Are we going to actually get a real hot air balloon ride floating high above the map? or are these going to function like waypoints?

Prototype Fractal Capacitor Stats

So basically there is a prototype fractal capacitor for each stat combo of an ascended back item that you can craft. I actually just made a post asking about the new stat combos being made available in back items as well. I haven’t found or heard any definitive answers yet.

New Ascended Back Items?

I love the fact that they have added new ascended stats to the game as well as earrings, but where are the new back items? You would think that the back items would be up-to-date considering a whole new item category was added.
