Yup nice setup and total overkill for this game lol. But I’ve been trying a few things to reduce the chugs/freezes without much luck. For example, I usually just run a fixed 1024mb page file but I have tried 16gb, none and system managed with no change (system managed being the worst for smoothness). I think its something they will have to work on and i am glad I am not alone in experiencing it. At least no crashes, ever, even with my crazy settings. They are insta-crash on karka and teq on the 32bit client

I have noticed the weird “chugs” here and there as well but never any crashes which is great. Seems like it doing some weird memory dump or something. All drivers are the latest available and sys is no slouch

For years I have been going back and forth with support trying to fix these oom crashes and this has fixed everything even with massive overclocks (like i suggested very long ago). Anyways, if you guys are still crashing I would suggest giving asus realbench a shot to test for system stability. Its pretty cool because unlike other tests it will test everything at the same time. Set it to stress test mode, select your installed ram size and let it run overnight for at least eight hours.

Can this be used for non-Asus motherboards?

Definitely. Any board and any video card

Stop ignoring us with 4k displays!!!

Well some UI scaling love would be nice regardless if you have a 4k display or not. With technologies like VSR (amd) and DSR (nvidia) you can enjoy some of the benefits without the need for a new 4k monitor so why not keep up with the times?
Personally I am disappointed it wasn’t taken care of with the x-pack. It’s something we’ve been asking for since the beginning and would be welcomed even for those on 2k displays

Had the same issue for the past few days and tried absolutely everything. Nothing worked; not even a clean install of windows, the game, router bypass, router firmware flash/reset. Played a bit last night and when I quit I decided to try one more time and it worked on its own.
My advice? Don’t waste insane amounts of time like I did and just let it fix itself. Game should work fine even at 99%

GTX970 - frame stutter/jitter/twitch

No problem, its definitely extremely confusing the way they did it but its easy to check the one you need with their @bios flashing utility -which you need to flash anyways. The part you need to check is the last digits on the bios string (F1, F10 or F50).
As for the issue, what kind of ram are you using? If its 16gb or more and/or over 1866MHz I highly recommend a small bump to the System Agent voltage (CPU SA) in your motherboard bios. Try setting it to 1.0v and testing again. Also while you’re there make sure you motherboard bios is up to date as well

Edit- Forgot to ask but which board and sound card are you running?

Hey, that looks like a defective or overheating video card. Have you tried checking temps while gaming? If the temps are within reason reduce the video card clocks (gpu and mem) by 100MHz to see if that helps.

Hey, running the same card (x2) and have not noticed anything like that. First thing you should do is update the bios on the G1 and install the latest nvidia drivers. Next download and run latencymon while listening to your music/gaming. If something is causing latency spikes -which is usually the case with audio jitter/stutter- it will show you what is causing it

GPU Load / Temp in character creation?

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Nick.8256

Nick.8256

Probably because its doing 200fps in the character page. If you don’t use vsync or a frame limiter the video card will render as many fps as it can and in low load situations like game menus they could possibly hit 1000fps

Full Screen vs Windowed FullScreen

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Nick.8256

Nick.8256

Full screen should be faster since its not also rendering all your desktop stuff at the same time (reason why atl-tab is so much faster and smoother in window mode). Also amd crossfire does not work in window mode

Only frame limiter worth using is the one included with msi afterburner. You can get it separately from guru3d if you have no interest in ab.

Just wanted to add that it is normal for gpu-z to show the card(s) at 1x link when there is no gpu load. To check link speed correctly you have to load the gpu a bit. You can do this within gpu-z by hitting the (?) button and running the 3d window

AMD r9 290 crossfire at 1600p problems

To be honest any performance issues with this game are usually on the cpu side/engine limitations. The game loves cpu but the engine cannot take full advantage of what is available. On my current 4970k@4.7 it will max out at 50% on all 8 threads when it’s clear it starves for more (my gpu usage actually plummets when my fps do).
One great tweak that I find helps smooth out many cpu heavy games is killing core parking. I have not tested on windows 8 but on 7 it does wonders.
Check out the vid for an easy way to kill it and you can google core parking for more info/happy stories

290 cfx is overkill for this game even maxed out at 1600p but try going into the amd control panel/overdrive and set power control/limit to +50%. This will allow the cards to use more power when needed and seems to help smooth them out. Also keep an eye on temps as they do like to throttle when they heat up and two can heat a small room

Crashing due to a "Invalid Character Motion"?

Nick.8256

Same crash issues and I am on a brand new pc. Tried clean installs of windows 8 and 7 with the all latest drivers and still crashing with similar errors as others have posted.
Have also thrown every benchmark and stability test i can find at it and there are no issues even when looping everything overnight for 10+ hours.
Have lost quite a few boss chests because the game crashes the second they die…

Specs;
intel 4970k
msi mpower max ac
gskill 16gb @2133
asus r9-290
samsung evo 840
creative soundblaster z

The attached error log is on a brand new install of everything (win7) and just standing in LA
