I think they removed all the female animations now. I just re-logged and now my characters won’t do the hair toss animation anymore.
Anyone else?
Any word on this being worked on? Would love to see the animations brought back before HoT!
They won’t consider fixing it unless it is more trouble for them to leave it the way it is.
Post on other popular forums and rally support. They won’t fix something that isn’t causing them to look disorganized or lazy on a massive scale. Constant exposure will be your best bet since the latest update we have is that we have no update.
They’re not going to assign any priority to it unless there is more awareness raised about the issue. There are a lot of views on this thread and the one in the general forum, but only a handful of people are speaking up about it.
Maybe both sides of this issue are the minority, they just chose to side with the minority that has shareholders. /shrug
Yea too bad your idea makes too much sense otherwise they’d implement it.
Looks like Anet is catering to their demographic by not showing some ounce of compromise by keeping the animations in-game while the “fix” is being worked on.
The other thread was locked, out of sight out of mind I guess.
I still say they should bring back the animations until a “fix” is established. It’s been what, over 2 months now?
Well I think we pretty well established it was never a bug to begin with. They were clearly working with that section of code.
I was half-expecting them to be packaged into an 1800 gem Animation package with this patch.
Sounds like a good compromise to me.
So it’s dropping “as designed” but designed to do what?
Aaaand of course the moment I post this I get Gwynefrydd AND a Gift of Souls right after. WTF RNG?!
45,000+ bags approximately. I just stopped caring and opened/sold all day.
So it’s dropping “as designed” but designed to do what?
If anything he should have been able to be bought with foil wrapper scraps, if you are unlucky enough to not get one in the time you acquired 1k wrappers you aren’t going to win a halloween skin in the lottery either. On the off chance you do happen to win a skin you still can’t trade it for the mini you were after… go figure.
with all the wrappers we’ve gotten out of the bags we should be able to trade those for the mini… knowing my luck with all the bags i’ve opened and the wrappers submitted.. well.. only time will tell but more than likely RNGesus will not go easy on us. This will probably be the last time I purchase gems..
That is kind of what I was suggesting, it is a pretty fair way of doing it for an account bound mini. People with a lot of luck can get the mini in under 1k bags and be happy, people who opened 10’s of thousands of bags can turn in their wrappers for the mini instead of wasting them on a chance to win a skin.
I think is the only account bound item in the game hidden behind this much RNG and I hope its not a sign of things to come. If there is another item like this I would love to know what it is.
I’m afraid this is another one of their test cases to gauge the community’s reaction and willingness to buy gems in order to attain the mini. Look out for a Mini Gwen Doll from Guild Wars 1 using the same mechanic for this coming Wintersday.
I can’t even pronounce the name of it lol
It’s pronounced “GIVEMEMONEY”
They should have named it GwyNexon or GwyNCSoft.
How about bringing the animations back until the fix is ready and on release adding something to the options menu along the lines of:
[ ] Disable Idle Animations During Cinematics
Thank you, Gaile!
Here’s hoping they are brought back in their original forms and not watered-down versions. And as the poster above said, why have them redone? The change came from nowhere and with no explanation. Where was the uproar about the animations leading up to their removal?
How can this be a ‘bug’ – the programming for every character is probably controlled by a series of procedures with certain events triggering animations. When a character is at rest it will after a predetermined time go into a animated loop of actions to give it the appearance of life. The code is the same for every character so it’s hardly a bug now – as the only difference would be a animation which has to be ‘called’ and ‘executed’ to provide the required effects. Why not simply tell us ArenaNET that (as has been suspected) your Asian releases have been scrutinized and pretty silly complaints made. If there is any truth to this why not simply check for country of origin for any given human female character and prevent animations (if allegedly you feel that strongly about it) or allow them. Personally, I will admit that this is suspicious but this is the 21st Century and what possible harm or offence could anyone in any country take? I mean, it’s not exactly the ghost of Michael Jackson grabbing his nether regions now, is it?
This has been my suspicion with each and every bug fix patch that comes out since Feature Pack 2. They must have been DELIBERATELY working in the section of code to turn these animations off. Is there any way this could have been caused if they had been working on code for say…a karma event?
Also, if this is indeed to keep NA in line with China’s culture is it not a case of imposing their culture (China) onto others (NA)? Why not keep animation settings separate for each region if they feel so strongly about it to warrant a removal.
Maybe they are having to clear things with China before moving forward with the fix?
Oddly enough human female’s camera is set a few notches lower due to Feature Pack 2. Wanna trade camera heights? =P
Thank you, Gaile, for at least taking some initiative related to this issue.
Bug fixes with today’s patch and still no fix for this. =|
Well the patch is here, vote with your wallets if you don’t agree with this change.
Please oh please let this be fixed with tomorrow’s patch!
Any update on the “investigation”, Anet?
You should try stacking auras on multiple legendary weapons and then consuming an Omnomberry Ghost, it’s even more apparent and was definitely caused by Feature Pack 2.
The thing I am most curious about is how could these animations have been “bugged” out in the first place. Wouldn’t they have to have been deliberately working on the code related to these specific animations in the first place?
Maybe someone with coding experience can elaborate on this, but would this type of bug have been caused if they were working on code for something unrelated, say…the Trading Post?
So let me get this straight, the human female only has 1 animation after this “bug” while other races and genders are relatively untouched?
