I logged on my client tonight at 11 PM CST and watched my update bar patching at a rate of between 0 and 22 KB/sec. This is not normal for me. Nothing else on the net is slowed down for me, email and such is downloading normally, pages are loading normally, there are no other programs open on my machine and I have my firewall and virus scanner suspended to make sure they don’t interfere. At one point I closed down the client and restarted it and it’s still just as slow. It’s now 45+ minutes later and it’s still downloading the patch.
After a week with no real issues, all of a sudden I’m getting constant drops again, just like before, regardless if I’m crafting, standing in one spot doing nothing, running amok, in combat, in an instance. Doesn’t matter. My broadband connection is working fine, I’ve set everything you said to set in help in regards to firewalls, ports, and even turning off my virus protection temporarily (what company in their right mind advises someone to turn off their virus protection to play an online game?!?!?). This is becoming unplayable. In Houston, TX, Tarnished Coast server. Doesn’t matter if it’s 2 in the afternoon or 1 AM. Same thing.
I’ve been losing connection to the server ever 30 seconds to 5 minutes after a lag burst, dumping me back to the character selection screen, since I updated with the Sept 18th update. I can’t get anything done. Doesn’t matter if I’m crafting, in a home instance, just wandering around, or in combat, same thing happens. Happens at all times of the day. Pretty sure 3 PM EST is not primetime on Tarnished Coast. Please fix this. I have things to do!
I’m having the same issue, and I’m on ATT U-verse, so it’s nothing to do with my hardware or my internet connection. I’m wondering if it has to do with the main internet routers, as a lot of them seem to be down at http://www.internettrafficreport.com/namerica.htm
