That’s actually while the score was still looking pretty good for us. :p
We (Desolation) finally lost our VS keep at around 7AM CET. We made the Russians pay for every inch though!
@Juju
If we (Desolation) are actually winning this early in the day, then something new is happening. In my experience Desolation prime time usually doesn’t start until around 20:00 GMT (seeing as we’re the unofficial UK server). For the longest time we’ve always had to fight back from a point potential deficit as UK prime time rolls along. So it is a bit strange seeing us leading this early in the day vs. a server as strong as Far Shiverpeaks.
8 pm Moscow time pretty much starts Russian prime-time, and a few hours later we get our main server prime-time with majority of EU players joining in on WvW.
They started logging on at 4 AM GMT during the weekend, just like Blacktide did throughout the week in our last match. So to us it cerainly seemed like Nug wasn’t much different from Xaoc in that regard.
If Far Shiverpeaks’ Russians honestly don’t start logging on until 8PM Moscow Time, then you guys should actually be much more worried about Blacktide than Desolation. Blacktide has an OK night time crew, an incredibly strong morning crew, and most importantly they never give up, so they’ll always be gaining points somewhere.
They’re coming up to Tier 2 next week and I sure am looking forward to it, since they gave us one hell of a fight last week.
That’s a fair warning I give you.
- In Tier 1 you need a strong 24/7 presence.
- In Tier 2 you either need a strong morning crew or a strong night crew.
- In Tier 3 you usually only need a strong prime time crew.
That’s how things seem to be shaping up right now. But at the end of the day, as someone who has played in all three top tiers, Tier 3 is no less fun than Tier 1 is. As a matter of fact, I had more fun in Tier 3 and Tier 2 than I ever did in Tier 1.
What the hell is wrong with you people? All this thread is is whining, moaning and swearing at each other. Everyone seems to be so busy trying to find reasons for why their opponents are evil and just plain bad at this game that no one seems to be able to even enjoy this match. That’s just makes me sad, as there has been so much good fighting going on during the weekend.
As for all the kittening about RUIN.
I’m a solo player in my very own one man guild. I’m someone who regularly logs onto both RUIN’s and IRON’s teamspeak channels. On neither channel have I ever witnessed either guild making fun of pickup groups or solo players. In stark contrast, both guilds seem to see us as a very important part of the World vs. World community here on Desolation. If this is the impression I get as a solo player, with not even the power of a small guild behind me, then I have no idea how some members of Desolation are getting the impression that RUIN or IRON are pissing all over us soloers/small time guilds from a great height.
As to them being terribly bad at this game, those accusations are just plain petty. RUIN doesn’t win every fight they go into and not all their plans wind up being successful, but they certainly put a whole lot of effort into improving Desolation’s position on the battlefield. The amount of gold they spend on upgrades is also astounding, so while the claim that they often leave multiple non-fortified objectives in their wake is true, the claim about them slacking on upgrades is false. I personally witnessed their members spending over 30 gold on upgrades this weekend, and if I managed to observe that as a solo player just minding my own business, you can be assured they spent way more than that over the weekend, while I was not around to directly spot it.
TL;DR: Please stop the whining, swearing and the endless accusations. It won’t help this thread and it sure won’t help any of you forum warriors get better results in game. Just try to enjoy this matchup for what it is. It’s a very close and very competitive game during prime time. If you can’t enjoy that, then there’s little hope you’ll ever enjoy the WvW aspect of this game. Instead of vilifying your opponents, try to give them some props if you’re impressed with what they do. It’s not such a hard thing to do and it is far superior to the kitten that this thread has become.
TL;TL;DR: Stop being so angry, and just try to enjoy the game. :|
the only reason we (FS)are behind in prime time is because we have to come back every time reclaiming the map because in the night u guys took everything and upgraded keeps. Its much easier to defend then during the day.
Far Shiverpeaks is very much like Blacktide.
- At around 4 AM GMT the Russians start logging on.
- By 6 AM GMT they already outnumber Desolation heavily and we are forced to concentrate on holding just a single map.
- By 8 AM GMT every map (except EB) is usually controlled by Blacktide/Far Shiverpeaks.
Both Desolation and Far Shiverpeaks have a strong non-prime time presence. Far Shiverpeaks is very strong during Asian/Oceanic prime time (because Russians seem to play very, very early). Desolation is strong during UK & US prime time (because we have Ruin + Brits seem to play very late).
We can argue forever about which non-prime time presence is more beneficial, but it won’t get anyone anywhere. Desolation kittening about the Russians is just as bad as Far Shiverpeaks kittening about the Americans. Instead both servers should just be happy that at least we’re not in Tier 1, where all three servers have a much greater coverage than both Deso and FS.
In closing, just try to have fun in this matchup, because chances are we’ll be seeing a lot of each other in coming weeks.
Ruin doesn’t talk on map chat, instead depending on us randoms either be psychic or in their words “join Ruin”. Any effort at trying to get them to talk is pointless. We are always told to stop the qq.
If you joined their Teamspeak server, you’d know this isn’t true. When randoms come and tell them help is needed in some specific borderland, they usually seem eager to help out, so long as they’re not otherwise preoccupied.
They also usually have someone to talk to people in map/team when they have something important to relay, even if it is not their commanders themselves typing out the relevant information.
I’m not saying they’re going out of their way trying to strike up some concrete alliance with all the pickup groups on the server (and I’m not sure anyone would expect them to), but they’re definitely not ignoring them or constantly belittling them either. (at least not that I have noticed)
I’m saying this as a solo player, just running around in my very own one man guild, so if anything I guess I’d be the first person to notice if they showed no respect to small guilds or solo players. So far I’ve actually enjoyed working with them, so make of that what you will.
Why the need for all this mudslinging by all sides?
Last week we (Desolation) were up against a server very similar to Far Shiverpeaks.
Early mornings Blacktide (heavy Russian presence like FS, but not as many Scandinavians) captured everything. During the evening everyone had around equal numbers and lots of fun was to be had. Late nights Desolation captured everything (heavy UK & US presence). The cycle continued throughout the week, yet the amount of swearing and cursing over the entire matchup is dwarfed by the spite I’ve seen just in this small thread. If this continues throughout the week this whole thread is going to be absolutely terrible.
Can’t we just enjoy the fact that we are all having some fun during the time everyone has equal numbers, and stop throwing kittens at each other over the periods none of us is having fun? Just try to enjoy this match for what it is, because if you can’t enjoy it, then there’s no point in even queuing up.
@Same
Far Shiverpeaks’ early morning crews actually seem to be larger than even Desolation’s night crews. As such it might actually be Desolation that has to log on every day UK prime time to fight fully upgraded keeps, not the other way around.
I believe this will be a much closer and much more entertaining match than you seem to think.
Blacktide has been a great opponent, llexa, and after the addition of the Gunnar’s Hold WvW guilds you gave us a big wakeup call.
It is not a coincidence that we started taking you guys very seriously in the past two days. You were having a big comeback and if we hadn’t increased our effort, Riverside would have stayed in Tier 2 and Desolation would still be in Tier 3, even if we won the match. So you not only gave us a very good fight, you also gave us a very real scare.
Xaoc is a very good, very well organised guild and you never give up. That’s a great quality to have. With some luck, we’ll meet up again in Tier 2 in just over a week. The servers are very close right now and I think Blacktide only needs a few more active people during US prime time to be nearly unbeatable. Thankfully for Desolation, you do not have those numbers just yet, but who knows how things will look like after next week.
I’d wish you good luck in your next matchup, but I doubt you’ll need it.
Until next time!
