A lot of people are shouting for Greatsword, for melee & cleave; which I tend to agree with since there is definitely a gap in our current weapon choice for it.
I don’t however want another hoard of Twilight wielders. I think that a Trident would fit the bill a lot better. Why not open up the much under appreciated underwater weapons for land use. There are a lot of really good looking water weapons that just don’t get the time of day they deserve.
Some points that I don’t think have been construed properly:
Putrid Marks does not need to be triggered to cause it to blast; however Chillblains does need to be triggered to activate its field.
Putrid marks is a double blast (it blasts twice for every single cast).
Spectral wall is an ethereal field.
I think that the access to blast finishers is perfectly balanced, if you consider the Necromancer as a whole. The easy access to dark fields (blindness) coupled with other blinding skills, would give almost permanent blinding to the Necro while still dropping considerable DPS.
I mean, I would love to have more blasts. Who doesn’t love blind & weakness, and in my opinion are some of the strongest conditions. But I feel increased access to them would only lead to “OMG NERF NECRO PLz, ARgh the BLINDz! OP OP OP”
Primarily to interrupt heals, and also to delay a stomp if needed.
@skcamow No, one on each weapon set. Off hands I tend to have a perm bonus or some stack building sigils.
Poison on each swap. Hmm, that does sound interesting. Personally I use staff so struggle with locking someone down when they decide it’s time for them to leave, hence hydromancy/doom; but I guess if you have the added immob on sword and loosing the poison from staff it’s a good call.
Doom works by, when you swap to the weapon with doom sigil whilst in combat, you get a wee buff icon and your next attack adds poison. It lasts after a fight too, so you can get in combat, swap and get the buff for your next fight.
Sw/F for conditions? I would throw in a staff for burning too.
Regards to sigils, I prefer doom & hydromancy. Due to the nature of Mesmer conditions (almost random) I like to have a guaranteed CC, and poison. Clones will happily plug away at bleeding fairly constantly.
@Advent I believe you will only proc one sigil per weapon swap.
@Overlord
I’ve played both of the suggested builds:
20/0/30/20/0 – Tou/Heal/Condi (T/H/C)
20/20/30/0/0 – Condi/Pre/Tou (C/P/T)
And I think that both suggestions are viable builds for 1v3ish in WvW. The decision that you have to make is do you want to swing further towards damage or regen’?
Osicat poses a good point, that you do get a good regen’ up time with the C/P/T build, but the T/H/C build will have a higher reliable up time and will tick higher; however the damage difference is noticeable with the precision and added bleeds in C/P/T.
On the point of obtaining rabid gear, don’t forget you can get the trinkets with karma from the temples (I think Lyssa for Rabid).
Also, Settlers trinkets & Apoth armor is super cheap.
