A one time event that gets ArenaNet to wake up and/or fire a few people in their company. At least then they’d have money to actually use on events. I can’t imagine their event planning being much more than “Ok team! How much money can we find hiding in our couch to fund this event? 43 cents?! That’s more than enough!”
In most overflow servers we sat around for 30 minutes, the treb never finished, there was no fight, and the entire event just skipped to the island of broken hopes and promises.
It’s lucky for ANet that this ISN’T a subscription game. They would have flopped after halloween at the latest.
Yeah that about sums up ArenaNet’s total lack of bug testing. People still can’t even complete phase 1…and most people never even saw phase 2 begin. With the sheer overwhelming amount of bugs in this game it almost makes me wonder if fighting gigantic insectoid looking crabs is just a cruel joke.
This shouldn’t even be passed off as a ‘learning experience’ for Anet. They need to just fix it now before the event ends.
I’m not being combative, I’m paying attention to what the vast majority are saying on the forums.
-still being a special snowflake-
Clearly you don’t read. You proved it by ignoring everything I’ve been saying. I don’t want special treatment, I want actual problems fixed. People clearly are having the biggest problems completing this puzzle because they can’t see their characters enough to make precision jumps without any room for a pause. Also people aren’t being able to do this because of the major camera problems that still haven’t been fixed since release.
You’re just another forum troll that thinks they can be the only one to beat it.
Enough said. You’re wrong. Get out already.
Oh look, intelligent people on the forums. Quick whiners in other threads..take a quick glimpse at what you should be saying.
In all seriousness though, the clocktower is very badly designed. For a f2p mmo they shouldn’t be designing major content of a holiday event for only 5% of players to beat. That just makes people not want to play the game anymore for fear that this kind of outrageous behavior will continue on Arenanets’ part.
-wants to be a special snowflake-
I love how you quoted me trying to say everything I said was incorrect when you clearly still don’t read posts. You’re just another troll in the bunch who don’t want anyone more than themselves to complete this puzzle.
If the puzzle was fair for most players..most players wouldn’t want the problems with it fixed. It’s literally that simple. Nothing you whine about will ever change that. Lots of people don’t even care about the item reward from this at all, they just want to be able to beat it. Sure, nobody NEEDS the achievement, but why would Arenanet add in a jumping puzzle in an mmorpg without the intent of having the majority of their playerbase be able to finish it? Try thinking with your brain for once in this thread.
stuff
It’s not the fact that we don’t want you guys to complete the puzzle, it’s the principle of nerfing things just because you lack the ability to do it. You’re right, it’s not going to affect me one way or another if it gets nerfed or not. But I don’t want this to turn into WoW, where everything is made so easy your unborn child can do it from the womb with a series of well placed kicks to the keyboard.
Not to mention, the puzzle is worth 10 achievement points. That’s all. It doesn’t count towards your Emissary of the Mad King title. It doesn’t give you anything unique, not even the Mad King slippers, which are just an already available skin on a soulbound uniquely named item. You literally have next to nothing to gain and absolutely nothing to lose with this puzzle.
There’s no reason to be calling for nerfs on something that is not impossible or, IMHO, even that difficult to begin with. If you can’t do it, move on… what do you think you’re missing? Watch a video, the entire puzzle is you frantically jumping to broken pieces of clocktower with a miasma of green stuff underneath you. Nothing amazing happens.
Jesus H… 10 achievement points… that’s it.
TL;DR – I’m against the mentality of nerfing something that has no bearing on the game just because Johnny Icantdoit is having trouble.
Your point would be valid if the majority wanted this puzzle nerfed. You clearly don’t read before posting though. Most people want the legitimate problems FIXED. That’s not nerfing, that’s fixing problems. The camera is a HUGE issue on this jumping puzzle. Random bits of floating things cause the camera to zoom in to the back of your characters head at all the wrong moments unless you position the camera to the point where you can just barely see where you’re going.
Then there’s people that character block you. You can’t race a clock with precision jumps if you can’t see where you’re jumping from. (Saying just keep trying and you’ll memorize it isn’t a solution..that’s grinding..this game isn’t about grinding.)
That first pause in the puzzle is another major issue. Why would anyone place a pause in a race against the clock? Why would you give the CLOCK the advantage when it’s already so fast you can’t stop moving for a second?
Overall this puzzle has many actual problems. Just because a couple people made it through by being lucky doesn’t mean other people should have to spend hours/days on this puzzle because they didn’t have the same luck.
Really frustrating puzzle. Add to this bugged events, ghost hunt in 45+ zones and general lack of goodies and you get a failed holyday. Yay.
Well if they can’t fix the camera bugs after this long, why would you expect a major event to go smoothly? It’s not like they actually beta test these things to make sure people can complete them.
The one way they can fix this easily. Make it so you don’t need to wait at after the first 2 staircases. Letting the acid catch up is the dumbest idea ArenaNet has had so far. Why would you make a race against the clock..then let the dang clock catch up?!
a challange shouldnt take average players HOURS of attempts.
This. The lava is just too fast for 90% of the playerbases’ reaction time.
It’s extremely difficult due to camera troubles and other people just being in the way. Making it solo would actually solve most problems people are having.
It’s broken. The camera angles are horrible. You get stuck on everything going up. And unless you’re running it alone, you can’t see the jumps that you need to make. On top of all these issues, you shouldn’t need to wait on the jumping puzzle itself to give you a path on a race against the clock.
