Ok, so I traded something like 7 gold 65 silver for 250 gems for a hair style kit. The gold was spent, and then it seems like the gems got spent, but I didn’t receive the hair kit.
Not sure if this is the right place to post this… but seriously, how come I didn’t get my stuff?
…The drops are not just limited to Champions and Dragons though. It is all world chest/boss drops that have a perception problem, if not a real problem, in dropping reasonable loot. I’m not saying we should get ascended gear but dragon/giant/champion tokens plus the better than average chance at rares and exotics should not be too much to ask for. Fighting Grenth, Tequatal or Claw should yield better than a bag full of vendor trash…
…We’re asking for an increase in goods, not an increase in gold. Gear drops are just as likely to be worn or salvaged as sold whereas gold only serves one purpose, hence inflation.
Agreed, most world events have terrible loot, and I would love to be able to loot some decent salvageable rares that I could get some ectos out of. Is it so unreasonable to expect to get something shiny out of a loot chest as big – or bigger, if you are an asura – as your character?
I do disagree with not wanting an increase of gold. Even if they add improved drop rates on items, the likelihood that you will actually get the piece of loot you are looking for is very small. People need gold to be able to afford the ridiculous prices of goods on the trading post. The Greatsword I’ve been looking at for the last couple months, the Foefire’s Essence, sells for about 600 gold on the trading post on Sorrow’s Furnace. I don’t think I could afford that even if I tallied up all the gold I have earned since I started playing the game. As a matter of fact, I doubt I would have much more than 100 lifetime gold earned. That’s even with selling lots of crafting materials on the trading post, and spending a fair amount of time running dungeons for cash.
People need more money, and they need more things to spend it on. And what should be the primary means to acquire both for all levels of players, doesn’t provide much of either. Dynamic events just don’t give enough of a reward to a max level player. The amount of exp the events give is plenty. But a level 80 doesn’t need the exp anyway.
Also @Masterpyro.4310 gold = gems =/= cashmoney. You can’t trade gems for cash, although you can trade cash for gems, it is a one way flow. Even if gold is really really easy to earn, the way they structured the gold to gems purchase system the price on gems would simply go up and stabilize at a reasonable rate for purchasing gems at. And even then there are always people who would rather just drop 10$ on the gems than spend gold for them, especially if they want that item right now.
Also, talking specifically about gold really isn’t the point of this section of the forums. This is about making dynamic events more rewarding and giving players encouragement to spend their time in the world instead of lined up outside Citadel of Flame.
Someone mentioned bringing back the “green” items from Guild Wars 1. Named mobs used to drop weapons with unique or interesting appearances. Why not bring that back? That is an incentive many players would appreciate, and it wouldn’t really mess with the gold flow of the game.
See, there are things I need to spend gold on. In fact its going to cost me a lot of gold to purchase the 200 charged lodestones I’m going to need to craft my two gifts of light for my Foefire’s Essence and Foefire’s Power greatsword and hammer. But because the amount of money you receive from doing anything in the game is so pathetically small suddenly the 3 gold 50 silver a piece lodestones are ridiculously out of my reach. Which is another similar and possibly related problem, as a some of the lodestones are far to difficult to gather in the numbers required for crafting the non legendary weapons such as the ones I mentioned, but I digress. The only real way to earn gold is to spend all your time constantly running and re-running a couple of the shorter and easier dungeon paths like Citadel of Flame path 1. That isn’t fun at all. I want to be able to get my cool gear, and be able to get it however I want. Having decent rewards for world events won’t break the system. If there is too much gold, and people want to buy gems with gold, the price of gems will simply go up to accompany the extra gold in the game. I would prefer to run around doing dynamic events to earn money. They are more fun than endless dungeon runs. But they don’t give any money. Or unique loot. Or much loot of any kind for that matter.
So I spend about 30 minutes soloing the Champion Giant event at Naegling in Diessa Plateu. 30 minutes of furious concentration, dodging all of its attacks so I don’t get splattered. But can you even begin to grasp the unimaginable rewards I would get from soloing the giant? Yes, I received a mighty Carrion Reinforced Scale Coat, a lvl 77 BLUE, and a little over 2 silver in chump change. That didn’t even pay for my fast travel. On top of that the stupid thing doesn’t even count towards my daily veteran slayer. Like what, champion mob not good enough for you? I defeated a huge giant that wrecked the entire town of trained soldiers, by myself, and all I get is a insulting 2s and a blue.
Why do rewards from dynamic events SUCK so bad? Do you not want us to do any dynamic events at all after we hit lvl 80? There is zero reason to want to spend time doing dynamic events that give no reward worth earning, when we could go do dungeons and still get no loot, but at least get paid doing it.
Am I the only one that goes and kills the claw of jormag and only gets a few blues and a green? Is this just me being my usual unlucky self, or does anyone else feel that the world events are needlessly punishing and unrewarding in the extreme?
Such as:
the Temple of Grenth event in the Cursed Shore where you get tossed in the air and drop to your death. If you join in and are not forewarned of this aggravating mechanic you probably don’t realize that 50% falling reduction trait you may or may not have specc’d is pretty important here. The walk back is pretty lengthy too.
the Temple of Balthazar with its chain crowd control and auto-down ability. I spent the entire timer of that event either running around CC’d or downed. That event lasts what, 20 minutes? That’s a lot of time spent CC’d and not a lot of time having fun killing the event boss.
The Shatterer event in Blazeridge Steppes that never seems to have any rares in its chest. Ever.
Many, MANY events in Orr are much more challenging than any of their rewards merit. Killing a champion mob in Orr is no easy task, and the fact that you usually only get a couple silvers at best from it is simply ludicrous. That might not even pay for your repair bill on your armor, and your fast travel fee back to the nearest waypoint. Which of course, being in Orr, is probably contested. Meaning that you have to walk double or perhaps even triple the distance to get back to the event.
Now I like a challenge in my video games as much as anyone else. But I like to feel that when I best a difficult foe that it was worth doing, and all of these events, and more, feel totally worthless because they have no reward worth doing them for.
Why can’t we at least get a full gold piece and a rare every time we kill a claw of jormag. It’s not like the event is constantly up. It has a fairly significant waiting period between each repeat.
Why couldn’t the champion giant give me a good 50-75 silver for killing it?
Seriously, in which corner of Tyria is my loot hiding in?
