I too remember having issues when I started playing. I have been using Action Camera since HoT and it makes targetting and movement way easier. It has some limitations but I would say it is very beginner friendly.

Also, with rifles it is nice since you get a targetting reticle, that stays center of the screen and lets you aim and turn with your mouse at the same time.

All good suggestions above. However, the thief doesn’t have to be glassy, you could beef it up and still give her a fast paced pew pew capable of open world, add SB and it’s just more pew pew.

She’s still got the toon and might go back to it later. She needed something that could get beat on more though, she is pretty rooted in fights. As she gets more comfortable in the game that will hopefully change. I didn’t like any click to target attacks when I started a month or so ago either.

I hear nothing but complaints about how hard eng is to operate with all the buttons and how it’s one of the more complicated classes. Haven’t tried one myself.

Probably switch forceful greatsword to body blow though. She’s not switching weapons much.

So I got my wife, who is typically very anti-games to start playing GW with me. She wanted to do theif at first and loved dual pistols but I had her try boosted in silver wastes and it was too much for her. She can’t manage the mobility. I suggested she try something more durable and less dependent on agility. Her only stipulation was guns. So I had her make a warrior and boosted its handed a rifle and she liked it.

So, back to the starting zone to play through the map/story with her boosted warrior…I need a build for her. She hasn’t grasped using the mouse to look with rmb and basically uses a and d to rotate her view and relies on auto targeting w the rifle. I have her Carl click me to make it easier on her. I set all her right side skills to be signets so she can get the most passive benefit, letting her just ignore them and concentrate on 1-5 keys and F1.

So what I need is a core trait build, using rifle and great sword with the boost kit soldiers gear mostly auto attacking with rifle with me backing her up. Can someone point me toward something suitable? This is just to get her started and hopefully it will evolve later as she gets better.

1. What timezones are you playing in?
It is important because wvw is 24/7

2. How many people do you have?
It is important because some servers are close to full while some timezones are very outmanned in some servers.

3. Roaming or Zerg?
It is important to decide the future of your playstyle. To roam means you not planning to grow huge. To zerg means you planning to recruit to reach that numbers which means you need a server where you can have easier time to recruit.

We’re predominantly EST. We’re not “a WvW guild” but are currently pinging the membership to see how many are interested in WvW and if they’d be willing to move in an effort to come together on a server. It may only end up being a couple people. We’re still info gathering, like I said, perhaps we’ll have a WvW arm in the future so we want to plan ahead for that with at least a server to tell people to join if they ask where they should go. I’ve personally been just jumping into wvw solo and playing chase the commander tag when I can, and roaming when I can’t.

What made you decide to move? Why did you choose GoM at that time?

I’m in a guild that is spread across servers, as it was originally PVE focused. As it grows, there are those expressing the desire to WvW together, and so the need to congregate to a server together is becoming a thing. We’re still in the data collecting phase, a lot of the fundamentals we’re still ignorant of, and there are certain concerns we’ve tossed around. How high do you have to rank to earn points? Of the top 12 servers in the wvw standing, 6 are full and 6 have Very High status. Is there any way to determine how close to Full a given Very High server is? What if the server your guild picks get tagged as full as half your guild gets moved? My personal starter server is Anvil Rock, and we’ve been paired with Crystal Desert and they have a server wide discord, which is VERY cool. What other servers have active discord communities? Yes, I googled most of this prior to typing this, but most stuff I find is 2-5 years old. Any assistance is appreciated.
