Guild Wars 2

GW2 is buy to play, not pay to play(This is obvious.) They make their money from the Gem Store, and they are a business their goal is to make money. They may need money to hire knew help for other features everyone wants. It also seems like a lot of players, who say they have never or only ever bought a few keys, demanding this to change. Most of us have been playing free for years, we got our moneys worth. Anything you spend after that is on you.

While I think that Anet should keep an open dialogue, they do not need to ask the community to change anything, and they can change stuff without the community wanted. And, Anet does occasionally hook the player base up with something if their screw up is such a nightmare.

Now do I not like the idea to have Minis or Weapon Skins being account bound, but I don’t run Anet. Best thing is to remain civil, stop demanding, stop the "I am never playing or doing X anymore. Just say what bugs you with out hulking out on the forums.

Also, again, they are a business, and the point of a business is to make money.

I know this is an old post, but the Wiki entry says that Dishonor is not active. If this is not the case, let me know and I will go ahead edit the Wiki entry.

I’ve noticed that something says “only 17 hours left” (or whatever) and then, I’ve logged back on about 10, or 11, hours later and it’s already gone…

I wonder whether sometimes the times are a bit off, or maybe it’s because I’m in the UK and it’s reading the time wrong, somehow?

The exact same thing happened to me with the [Mini Avatar of the Tree], though I think it was an error on my end, I did the math in my head wrong(at what time they leave the shop.) or I was looking at an entirely different item. . .as much as I dislike admitting it.

I was thinking while I was working on my [Spinal Blades] that it is going to cost me a frak ton of gold to get them colored. I would prefer Dynamic, but I will take what I can get. Though it would be an easy fix this pricing issues for people who never got around to crafting a set, and the influx of new players, include a Scarlet Themed Fractal. In said fractal enemies/bosses whatever drop the power cores. Or at the very least include them as a drop in the Aetherpath of Twilight Arbor.

Am I the only one who thinks this would be a good idea?

I was just rambling off random idea. Though it wouldn’t be limited to me, I check the store almost daily, I was thinking more for other people like me, who may want other items, as I like to help others in game.

But, I do see your point. Threads usually do not last all that long, unless a lot of people keep coming back due to a conversation. . .And, it’s arguments that usually tend to last longer because everyone has to get their two cents in(I am guilty of that myself, though I o try to refrain.)

Who knows, maybe it ill happen. Honestly, I think(Thought, it was an idea so I threw it out there.) it won’t happen. I wouldn’t be to upset if I was mistaken though.

Well I am going to try to get some Beta in, work on some crafting, and work on saving gold to finish my spinal blades, hopefully I will have enough to get 10 Dynamic power cores(27g a pop) before they run out and I QQ more(Which isn’t easy I am buying sprockets to promote blade shards.). they need to have them drop again, like maybe the Aether Path in Twilight Arbor, or the chest at the end of the Aether JP. I have another idea, but I will bring it up on another sub-forum.

I am not sure if your “Good Luck” was sarcastic, no offense(lol I hate using that phrase.), but the “Wow” seemed sarcastic, and everyone knows it is hard at times to properly show sarcasm, happiness, anger, or anything emotion in text with out writing like I do, almost always TL;DR . I thought I had enough time, but I was mistaken. I should he just bought the phalanx armor, as I do not have a very diverse heavy armor set, but I will wait. Just like I have been for the [Mini Avatar of the Tree] Until then I am working on finishing all the ascended gear for my current avatars. I am working on the Spinal Blades, just about have everything I need for tempers, the next step Infused and colored. . .not sure what I am going to do. People don’t just hand out the cores needed.

Anyway, if this thread is still around and I see [Glints Gaze] I will give a heads up here The one thing I knew I had the gems for, and bought, my Female Ranger in Aether medium armor(Save the helmet, She has [Glints Gaze] equipped. She looks awesome, I also got horns(Not the [Thoughtless potion] or whatever it is called, I have the [Devil Horns] They may still be up there.) I didn’t know if I would be able to afford the armor skins. Is there a heads up thread on the forums? Like people who all randomly (or me every time I log on and every daily reset. . .I want the [Mini Avatar of the Tree] more than the armor, or almost any other item in game, well there is the [Crying Thorn of Dreams], but that is just a matter of luck and finding people to run Twilight Arbor Aetherpath.) Anyway, yea people mention an item they want from the gem store, and the first person who sees it, makes a post, pm, or quoting the person who wanted it. Could form a small pseudo guild, where people just add people who post on said imaginary thread, and contact them through the in ham mail system, Which needs the cap increased to at least 15-20, as I have msgs that are just too kitten funny to delete.

Anyway, Thanks for listening to me ramble on and on and on. . .Also if any forum mods that have access to information, and can give a heads up before the items went back up. . .We promise not to tell anyone. . .^_~ lol (Before I get hammered with they wouldn’t do that, I know, that is obvious to anyone who has read more than a few forum threads, For those who don’t know. . .I have a rather dry and odd sense of humor. )

I wanted to talk about ideas for fractals, that could reintroduce certain items that are no longer dropped and are required for crafting certain items, increase drops, and a new fractals. I thought it would be CDI, but that sub-forum is locked down. This is the closest sub-forum I could find as far as fractals. There some other things I wouldn’t mind pitching at the Dev team, but I can’t find a sub-forum that one could do that(I was sent to the forums via support when I rambled on about something.) I thought the community creation area was the place, but that is just for art. I was told Devs never go there by a user then I deleted my post. Though I may post some armor, weapon designs I have created fully rendered concepts of.(Though I used Blender to do so, but Blender has come far in the past 5 or so years.) So if someone could point me in the right direction, I would appreciate that very much.

Fraking hell, that is longer than I expected. . .

I came straight to the Forums this time, as I have dealt with support a lot over the past week(They are awesome over there, they put up with my insanely long replies.) I was trying to get a refund for some Skins I had purchased as a knee jerk reaction to how little time was left, but did not like them at all after I purchased them. Along with some ideas for the Devs, one thing that remained constant was go to the Forums(Except for the refund bit), the support team that responded was awesome and very helpful, I mention the support bit because it is why I waited and ultimately missed the Skins, and outfit I wanted.

So I waited until I got everything sorted out with the support staff to see if I would have enough gems to get all of them, well once all the confusion I caused with poor/confusing wording(bad habit) I decided I was going to buy them. I signed in yesterday morning it said 2 days left, and since my brother was over and he brought my Niece and Nephews I decided to spend the day hanging out with my brother and playing video games with my Brother and his kids(Mostly LBP and some Street Fighter, but my nephew loves the Assassin’s Creed series so he was playing that(My TV is my PC Display as well as my consoles(I don’t watch much TV), by the time they left I was exhausted.

I sign in today, and either I slept through an entire day, or I signed in right before the “Two days Left” Turned to “One day left” yesterday. Anyway I missed two skins and an outfit I wanted. [Phalanx Heavy Armor](That armor on male avatars without the Shoulder pieces just had a very “Ivalice” look too it(Ivalice is the world which several awesome and one so so, but still good, Final Fantasy games took place.) [Trickster Light Armor] for no reason other than I liked it on my female avatars, and the [Shadow Assassin Outfit] I need more variation in my light armor collection. Basically I don’t want to be in the same position I am with the [Mini Avatar of the Tree] constantly have the need to have x amount of gems in my account and obsessively checking the Gem store for the chance I will see the Avatar of the Tree mini on sale. I waited to the last moment to add gems. . .and the mini was gone.

So I am wondering/hoping there may be a last chance sale, I am sure there are also people who were not aware these items would be removed, or aware of this at all, and they may have wanted the items. . .or it is wishful thinking on my end.

So yea that is the gist of it. To anyone who reads this, Anet staff, or fellow players, I apologize for my writing, it is kind of like a thought vomit. So sifting through it, for it to make sense may be a pain. I know it will be a long read, with all the stuff that is slightly off topic – completely off topic, and my redundancy I may have missed, So if anyway has any answers I would appreciate it, I tend to obsess over certain things(not on a level where I would need psych care, but when I play GW2 it is always in the back of my head.) I am weird I know. So yea, any information would be helpful, and I thank you for it.

Programming in general is easy to do, but hard to be be any good at it. Coding events in an MMO of any type requires an insane amount of patience and skill. I think some of the player base doesn’t realize how hard the devs work. And, that when an event, or anything they work on, bugs out it likely bothers them more than the players. This is because they want to see people enjoy what they have worked so kitten. They are trying new things right now, some are good, some not so much. Give your feedback of course, and if you have an issue, sure. . .but please cut the Dev team some slack. If you have ever done any coding, you know how much time and patience is required. Yes this one was a bust, but they have acknowledged it, and are working to make sure everyone gets what they have earned.

My thoughts regarding future events have been repeated over and over. IT would have been better for people who can’t invest a lot of time into these events if: Enemies should drop loot, preferably blooms. Normal-Elite Mordrem=chance for 1-2 blooms, Champ= Chance at 3-5 blooms. They could have adjusted the cost so it would still be somewhat difficult to get the rewards. This event I am guessing is also geared towards people who missed a lot of the earlier gem store and event items.

Also my biggest request. . .Maybe have something like a choice of 1 account bound item that was only around for a limited time, like Aether skins, or the Mini Avatar of the Pale Tree Mini. I want that Mini. . .I have become somewhat obsessed with obtaining one some how. Through the game of course. I missed it eerytime it was in the store. Once I added gems, then got distracted by friends during Wintersday, started running the events. . . I went back the mini was not in the store. I bought some keys. Once I missed it by minutes. I checked the shop and it was there, I check to make sure I still have money in my gaming budget, then added gems. . .AND it was gone. I know it is weird, but I want that mini more than any other item in the game right now. More than the Dreamthistle Long Bow, more than the Crying Thorn Dagger(Which I want just as bad as Avatar of the Pale tree mini.). I know, I am weird.

Anyway, I played GW1 and GW2 is my favorite game at the moment. Since I bought it, I have barely touched my console, and I play just about every night. So I have faith that Arena’s Dev Team will fix everything, and it will be as fun as everything else I have played since I first started.

Hey they are getting faster at fixing things lol. I am guessing it was one of those simple “self facepalming” kind of issues that all coders make at some point. Its happened to me, a lot. That is what makes coding fun for me, though I am a little. . .Odd I guess you can say. Also the only stupid language is JavaScript(Though that is a Scripting language not a programming language, and it isn’t as bad as it used to be. . .Still, it can be a pain in the kitten .)

Also Linux isn’t about being wrong or right. . .Unless I misread your comment. Linux is a fun OS in my opinion, Debian or Ubuntu are great if you are new to Linux. You don’t even have to install them, you can make a live disc or USB stick and just boot from that. However if you want to skip the whole easy boot from a USB, and want a more. . . Trial by fire(?) experience Just install Gentoo. . .I have always had at least one Linux Distro since I was in Jr high, and Installing Gentoo can be a huge pain in the kitten . Seriously it is a kitten, but anyone that does it will tell you it is worth it, just for the learning experience. Kind of like Basic Training. I hated a lot of basic training, but after I finished and went to AIT, I realized I actually had fun, and missed it.

Siege bug: This has happened to me twice now. If you are using the siege in the mordrem events, and someone uses a repair hammer on it while you are on the siege, you get locked into the graphics for the siege. You can “leave” using the siege, and have your skills available to you, but you can’t move away from the siege.

This, of course, means you have to log out, and we all know what happens to your stack of completions at that time.

Lupini, did you try going to a way point instead of logging, after the fight is over, and you can use way points? Or does being melded with the Siege keep you in combat?

Yeah, and there is a bug in the code for this event. That bug is preventing people from getting their rewards. How can you possibly assure me that the bug that is preventing me from getting rewards will not prevent Anet from proving that I was present to receive those rewards?

I get daily event rewards. I’m not getting these. There is a problem somewhere and I have no reason to believe it is after the “mission accomplished” trigger but before the “reward output” trigger. And you definitely lack the frame of reference to assure me otherwise, as you yourself pointed out.

I was just trying to give some examples of what could be wrong, and how they could do something, so maybe people would worry >as much< and just enjoy the game. I could be wrong. I also could be wrong about the hostility I am getting from you. Though that could just be how I read it, but that last really came off that way to me, though I could be reading into it too much. I don’t know. . . We are both in the dark, I just tried to light a match, that’s all. I didn’t want to start a flame war or a debate. My Laptop runs Debian, and my old desktop runs Gentoo at the moment. I need to boot that thing up, it’s been a while. Though I have been meaning to visit some of the other distros I have worked with to see how much they have changed. I have been thinking about starting a guild of coders, or Linux users. if I do, it would be fun to run dungeons and talk shop. Talk shop? . . .I need a nap.

I have been playing for around a year and this is the first time I have seen a bugged event, though I could have just been off doing my own thing, and missed them. Though there is a small bug I found in the Asura home instance, walk behind/or the sides of one of the sets of stairs that lead up to the Belcher’s Bluff NPC, and you will auto-wipe. Kind of like that “Gift” from Scarlet. I wonder if it is still there. . .Not a big deal if it is though.

What happened to playing a game just for fun. Yea, the event is bugged, but if you don’t focus on that and focus on running the event with friends, the whole point of MMOs and their events. The loot is just an added bonus, a little motivation for people to team up and participate in the event. I honestly just enjoy the game. That is my opinion anyway.

Also coding is complex, your code can behave in unpredictable ways if you make the tiniest error, and sometimes finding even the most simple problems and patching them can be a huge pain in the kitten .

Hope that helps eases some minds, though I may be wrong, I do not now how they handle stuff like that, but if they say everyone will get what they earned, then I assume that tracking bit is not bugged, just the blooms. And the few who are not going to participate because it may take them awhile to get their blooms from earlier, they may fix the problem today, and you will just get today’s earnings in a few days.

So if you purchased idk… The Disgaea series, you bought Disgaea 3 when it released, then bought all the DLC. A few years later they release it on the Vita, at a much lower price than the original, plus it has all the DLC and new content included. Well you Bought the original, you should get your money back, or some special treatment because people who bough the Vita version got all the content you payed for(likely around $100.) for $40 and they got more content. If you did, contact NISA and see if you get anything. I may do that lol, not because I feel entitled, I bought both versions(I like the idea of being able to play the game anywhere, I love that series.) just to see what they do say to me. . .Then obviously I would tell them I just wanted to see what they would say, maybe even link them here.

Seriously people, even if they gave the game to them completely unlocked for free(and allowed a flood of gold sellers spamming everyone.) We still come out on top.

Hell I have only been playing since like November, I bought the game on sale(I meant to buy it at release, but I didn’t and I kept getting distracted by shinnies and it took me awhile to get here.) I missed all of Season one, I missed tons of awesome events. I am not even sure if The [Crying Thorn] Dagger to drops in the Twilight Arbor dungeon anymore. I can’t afford to buy it of the TP either. Also I kept missing the [Mini Avatar of the Pale Tree] on the gemstore, but that was my fault(I want that mini more than a legendary weapon. . .Not sure why, I just do.], annnnyway. I am jealous of everyone who has played longer than I have. The people with armor/weapon skins I will likely never get (Aether skins for example.) PvP Armors (If I read the wiki the chest on the TP are a rip off, and I feel sorry for anyone who dropped the gold on them if they are useless, because they cost a lot.) Vets have the better deal, and are entitle to nothing, nor do we deserve anything more.

Again you got what you paid for, and more. Way more than what you would have got with my Disgaea scenario, and you would get nothing for that. You got so much more than you paid for. I mean no offense, and most of you are likely awesome people who help out newbs. I don’t remember the person’s character, but he was crafting inventory bags and Dyes(Crafted or collected) I even gave out some inventory bags and dyes and gold. And like you I have written a kitteny comment on the forum. My point is, just play the game, have fun, we have an influx of newbs who bought the HoT expand your guild, gather some newbs for a dungeon run. Just(Here is the part that sounds offensive. . . and may well be, though it lacks the intent to be.) top acting so spoiled.

I love this game, and the community, it helped me so much when I first started, I was given gold, items, advice on leveling, and earning gold. Never was I insulted for not knowing something, or being a newb. I was asked if I wanted to run dungeons. These forums represent our community as well, and it bothers me to see people arguing, over something that is really not that serious.(Well to be fair, it is not that serious in my opinion.)

I do not want to argue, so please do not reply to me if that is what you are going to do. Better yet, send me in game mail, I will invite you to my guild or we can just form a party, we can discuss/debate if you want, but only while running a dungeon. Also you have to have Vent installed, I will give you Guest access so we can actually have a friendly conversation/debate/whatever lol. (I am typing this on a laptop with a jacked up keyboard. . . So there may be a lot of errors, and for that I am sorry.)

Thanks Phoebe Ascension, I try to keep at least 500gems in my account, though I am not 100% sure on it’s price. I think it was 350, but I could be mistaken.

I am disappointed that the Mini Avatar of the Pale Tree didn’t show up. . . Well I hope it shows up again. Also at least I got a weapon skin and the silver fed salvage-o-matic. Still I want that fraking mini!!! =p I know such a pointless item, yet I have been obsessed with getting one since I saw it in the gem store. I couldn’t buy it the first time because my gaming fund was depleted at that moment in time, then when I could, it was taken off the gem store minutes after I added gems to my account.

I get the whole bit about wanting a free character slot with the basic package, but people complaining about paying $50 for an expansion of a MMORPG with no monthly fee. I am willing to throw down cash that 90% of the people complaining buy gems with in game gold, or at least haven’t spent over $20 Real world money in the gem store. . .You sound like entitled brats. The $50 dollar price is fair. Think of it as paying the monthly fee for the last however many years you have been playing. Even then you would have payed a lot more in subscription fees in a lot of cases(Like people who have been playing since GW2’s launch).

I also have read things about the Final Fantasy expansion being $40. . .They also have to pay a subscription fee. WoW expansions were about $40 at time of each release, plus the subscription fee. Do any of you know how much goes into development? Server maintenance? $50 is a small price compare to other MM The only thing I agree on is that all versions of the EXP should come with at least one free character slot(Maybe 1 for the basic, 2 for Deluxe and ultimate. . .Or just one across the board.)

No you are not paying for GW2 twice, you are buying the kitten ed expansion, noobs get the core for free, which is good. We have an awesome community, the best in any MMO I have played as of late. I am proud of our community(Not when this topic comes up though.). If this monumental fail of a topic was not an issue, you all are likely great people to game with. . .Hell I may have played or talked in map chat with a few of you in the Silverwastes,Lion’s Arch, WvW, or World Boss Runs. So Decide, buy it, or don’t. . .Just stop ruining the forums, and map chat. If you have issues take them up with support.
