Not sure if the map was fixed or if this actually worked, but either way I am now free. I guested from Piken Square to the Ruins of Surmia server and was able to load in to Blazeridge Steppes and waypoint the heck out of there! It’s worth a shot either way
I don’t know if A/Net did something or this was just brilliantly simple, but I HAD traveled using a map portal from Ashford to Blazeridge and this still worked. I went from Piken Square to the Ruins of Surmia server, then way-pointed the heck out Blazeridge as soon as it loaded.Thank you!!!
Well… I had a response from my support ticket today, but its a bit of an odd one which has them asking for permission to be able to access my account. Not sure what benefit this would have, or even why they would need to do this.
Have asked for clarification from their end how this is supposed to help. Will update as I know more.
I wouldn’t knock it as long as it came from an official source and didn’t ask for your password. They might be trying to check if it’s a communication problem between their servers and our computers that they can’t diagnose remotely like, say, Microsoft can for their PCs. With any luck, maybe logging in from elsewhere will free you!

I read Matts (Anet) reason for the error being ISP packet drop problem and thought hmm interesting since I can log into other characters. I decided to contact my uni tutor who looked at the footage I took of the DC happening, and showed him ping result I took before and after. His unbiased and professional opinion is that Anet need to take a look at their servers as the problem is with their servers not handshaking correctly and drop out being caused there!
I also spoke to several engineers working for Virgin Media (who are also my ISP) who I know through my studies, they have looked at the results and also state that it is clearly an Anet problem.
So the result is, don’t start messing with you system doing client repairs, if it was your client then you couldn’t log into any character. Don’t bother contacting your ISP to complain, they are sick of hearing it, and will do nothing. DO contact Anet using a ticket and complain to them.

So in other words, “keep calm and go do something else.” 
After all, if your PC wasn’t working but everything else in your home was, would you blame your electricity company?
As a contact centre worker for a power company, I’d just like to add that you would be shocked and appalled that this does, in fact, happen lol
My Sylvari just got stuck about half an hour ago with this same error between Plains of Ashford and Blazeridge (error code=5:11:3:159:101). My Asura and Charr are fine. Does it seem to be something we’re doing wrong? :S
This is an issue best served over in the Tech Support sub-forum. There is a thread (or more) there, with Dev responses, I believe. This would not be an Account Issue.
