Last night maguuma had a serge of players and for the first time even had a temporary que into Maguuma. We spread out because we had the additional players. Typically we are out manned 2:1 or 3:1 and still hold out fairly well vs FA. 1:1 we clean house and held our Borderlands until at least 10pm EST when i logged off.
The only missing piece this week for Maguuma was players. We are making an effort to get more players into WvW and hopefully our player count will increase more next week.
Good Fight! I love the FA fights always long and entertaining. Maguuma just needs the population on WvWvW we had last week. The overall spirits are high with the groups i run with
. We just love the PvP.
So Maguuma is having a fun time in Borderlands today and we decided after FA has finally taken over the entire map we would like to do something fun

*45 Maguuman’s from all races, clans and time zones

I have been leading some early morning groups in Maguuma Borderlands and we have a pretty solid group of guys that from time to time may get a little discouraged but are not demoralized too much. We have had some good battles and can hold our own vs FA for a long time. I wish SoS had more day presence so FA had a little more opposition.
Our server is fighting strong and over the week we should learn a lot. If you are from Maguuma come out and lend a hand we are having a blast.
I have grown to love my elementalist in WvWvW. I find that I am godly in groups, amazing at nuking people on walls and I hold up pretty well 1v1 situations too.
Here is my build
30 Fire
30 Air
10 Arcane
Weapon: Staff
Utilities: Arcane Blast, Arcane (crap forgot name the 1500 range crit blast), Glyph of storms
Gear: Full Power, Precision, Crit% Head to toe and assessories. For runes i use the 2% Crit Damage + 10 to all stats for each one for 12% Crit Damage and 60 all stats
You can deal over 15k worth of damage very very quickly.
I find the best way to survive in WvWvW is knowing when you switch specs and use different abilities. Also paying attention and dodge rolling is also a plus.
Its fun for some. Not so fun for others. Same goes for PVE and sPvP. To each their own. I am glad there is varity to choose from.
Hey so I have been noticing something. When I auto attack a target with a staff clearly in range with no object or barrier in the way I sometimes see “Obstructed”. This I find is a huge problem since out auto attack is so kitten slow with a staff. Also, I have noticed that some people can just stand out of the way of our very slow projectile and most of the time it wont connect (not talking about dodging just running to the side). This is another huge issue.
Has anyone else noticed this?

Here are the current issues I/we see with WvWvW as it stands.
1) Population/Server shifting
This is caused by the free server transfers. I think accounts should be limited to how many times they can switch servers OR how about after a server transfer they cannot participate in WvWvW for a few days, nothing too drastic but enough to maybe curb the population shift to the winning team. I know people personally that switched to another server as soon as they started to win. The night population sky rocked on this server and now they dominate the scoreboard.
Hey here is another idea. How about server transfers are only allowed to happen on the last day of a given WvWvW match up. This way i cannot transfer servers to gain a WvWvW advantage. And lets say I just want to play with friends, well i would only have to wait a week not the end of the world.
2) Night Caping
This is not going away any time soon. This is also very difficult to balance because of how easy it is to stack a “winning” server. (see point 1) Here is my proposed solution.
Events in this game scale based on population. The more players in a specific area the more enemies and challenges are tossed at them. What if the WvWvW scaled in sort of the same way based on the difference in population between one server and another. Below is how this might work.
Keep/NPC Guard Scaling
If I am on a server with 2x the population at this given time then another server their NPC’s, Keep walls and other things should scale in health/damage to give the lower population server more of a chance to defend. Any upgrades or improvements should stack with this bonus.
This would not stop night caping but would give the underpopulated server a fighting chance or at least slow the progression of the night cappers down a bit. This would also work both ways and if my server had a higher population during the day time the other server would gain this structural buff.
3) Give the under populated server a reason to play at off peak hours.
Right now, when i get up early on Maguuma and we are getting rolled 10:1 by Tarnished Coast there is almost a “why even bother” attitude. If we were able to give these players hope, maybe ultimately they would loose but the battle would at least be fun and challenging it might help more off peak players wanting to play WvWvW. Also, for the attackers, it may be trilling to take an entire map in 1 hour but after that, what do you do? If we are able to help shift the power over to the underpopulated server and make them feel like they have a chance, even a very slight one, that there actions actually make a difference I think in the end everyone will have more fun.
