As an intermission from the barrage of afflicted players and posting of trace routes and such, I’d just like to, in behalf of all of us, point out that I’m fairly sure we all realize the following forum rules:
Do not engage in staff call-outs. Using the words “ArenaNet” or any staff member’s name will not expedite the answer to your query.
Do not post petitions, “I demand an answer” threads, …
… And are not trying to break them, but I believe that the frustration over the silence on this issue is based on the precedent of communication on these forums, particularly in the case of what can easily be classified as a game-blocking bug, and there is growing desire to hear, officially “you can stop trying to break your router/antivirus/firewall, it’s not you.”
Many of us, myself included, clued into this pages ago, but as a tech support savvy friend of mine pointed out to me last night, for those of you used to fixing problems yourselves, sitting and waiting for someone else to apply the fix can be maddening. That being said, I strongly believe that that’s where we are now in the majority of error code 7 cases.
But ArenaNet could always tell us otherwise, were they so inclined
Could this be related to ISP throttling?
I am noticing a correspondance between the times this issue occurs and the sort of times that my ISP are known to throttle P2P and newsgroup connections hard.
I had the same suspicion. While Canadians can expect a ceasing of this practice by the end of 2012, it still happens, and it looks a lot like this. A new, unestablished service that streams (like something illeagal), that the filters for “illeagal things” treat as one… by throttling it.
Or it could be ArenaNet’s infrastructure just not being ready for the two million copy appeal of GW2, which is understandable to an extent, so long as it gets fixed…
But an update would be lovely.
Issue seems cleared up for me (Canada-Tarnished coast) but I still hold my breath every time I zone.
I don’t want to jinx it, but I’m currently at FIFTEEN WHOLE MINUTES without a crash. That’s progress. Last two days it was "hear area sounds… and crash.’
Zero fixes applied at my end.
Are we all connecting the internet through a router?
Again, not trying to be a jerk, but for those of us for whom this just started happening, if we were playing flawlessly through a router, it’s GW2’s job to work through that router once again, not ours to fiddle with the router, nor to somehow plan to play without the router.
We’ve moved past the “our end” variables. There are multiple examples in this thread of “I’ve tried everything on my end,” it’s not in our court anymore.
For those who have never had a solid connection to the game, there are pages of people making suggestions of “our end” variables. For the rest of us, this thread is better focused for people to post their info, proclaim their being impacted by the error, and to wait for an ArenaNet-end fix to be announced.
We’ve moved beyond “user, try this.”
constantly disconnecting… tried everything suggested by players and the help section. nothing is working.
I think it’s pretty safe to say that, for most if not all of the cases of “the game worked for me before this,” it’s not in “our court” anymore, as well intended as those suggestions were.
Now we just need the other side of the table to do their thing and fix it.
An update would be lovely.

Extremely disappointed in the service as of right now. Not even an update.
I’m trying to be patient, myself, but this REALLY needs to at least click over from “hey guys, try this” to “we’re working on it,” at least for those of us that had flawless access and functionality until recently.
Those of us who went from 100% ok to this bug on log in should not have to “try this,” in my opinion, it should work, or be acknowledged as being in ArenaNet’s court for the most part.
I’m not willing to “try this,” I’m willing to follow the staight line installation of the game and log in.
I’m not mad that there’s errors. Errors happen. It’s a new game. I get annoyed when a previously working program breaks, with no variables on my end, and I get asked to “try this,” with no admission that “it’s not you.” I know it’s not me, and I don’t need inferences to the contrary.
That would make me a lot more patient, to hear that “if it worked before, it will work again, that’s our goal, and you won’t have to ‘try this.’”
Again, I’m not mad at ArenaNet, I just need to stop hearing “try this.” I’d rather, being someone who has had the game working flawlessly for over a week, hear “we’re trying this, it’s not you” from ArenaNet.
Just to add my data to the pile, as a 7:11:3:189:101 victim:

Error Code - 1022:5:1:825:101 is getting really obnoxious
in Account & Technical Support

Maybe i got solution to this error. Im behind router and even after forwarding ports 80,443,6112,6600 I was getting error 1022:5:1:825:101. But try this:
1. Navigate to your Guild Wars 2 installation folder.
2. Right-click on “GW2.exe” and select “Create Shortcut.”
3. Rename this shortcut to “Guild Wars 2 Port Test.”
4. Right-click on this shortcut and select “Properties.”
5. Edit the “Target” line to include /clientport 80 at the end.
Note: Please make sure /clientport 80 is outside of the quotes
Correctly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe” /clientport 80
Incorrectly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe /clientport 80”
6. Once completed, click “Ok” to save your changes.
If you get an error trying to save, your target line may not have the correct format. Please try step 5 again.
7. Double click “Guild Wars 2 Port Test” and try connecting again.I was able to play without this error from sunday-wednesday. Switching back to normal gw2.exe made error back in few minutes.
So try forcing GW2 to run on 80 port.
Good luck
Just tried this.
While it might fix 1022:5:1:825:101, I can’t tell, since it’s not immune to 7:11:3:189:101. Crashed as soon as I heard the zone I was in.
Error 7 Disconnects are now occurring as soon as I select a character. I don’t even get past the “loading in” to whatever area I’m in screen.
Nothing would make me happier than to hear ArenaNet acknowledge this error in the form of an official “we’re working on a fix” type post, with timeframe. The silence sounds like “yup, we can’t do anything about it, deal.”
I realize I can’t demand attention here, that’s not my point. I’m simply pointing out that ArenaNet have BETTER communication than is indicative in this thread, with the severity of the issue, and that makes me nervous.

Still getting error 7 DCs after work shut down mid-shift, and so therefore not primetime.
Launch time is launch time… but updates would be great!
(edited by Omedon.4230)
Crashes just started up again for me this evening. Seems to be a “prime time problem”, as I was fine for hours beforehand.
Again, this should not be an “our end” or even an “our IP end” fix. The variables are “more people are playing GW2” it seems… which is not a user end variable.
As the resourceful man above said:
We shouldn’t NEED to do this to be able to play a game.
Very much agreed. I look forward to an ArenaNet-end fix.

Also disconnecting a lot, same issues.
I’m not willing to reconfigure antivirus/firewall/router/my end, as (with all due respect) I shouldn’t have to, GW2 has worked flawlessly until today, and no other games I own and play online require such “my end” troubleshooting, ever.
Glad I’m not alone… all the more reason there shouldn’t be so many “our end” fixes being suggested, for people working without issue before this started. Not trying to come off as a jerk, but the variable clearly isn’t the users.
I’m sure you guys will come up with a fix, (on your end) looking forward to being able to play again
Playing from Canada, Tarnished coast server.

New error message, same general issue.
Again, there have been no changed variables to network or connection on my end since or before this issue began.
Hello.
I am a north american player who has had next to zero problems until today.
Today’s new issue is frequent disconnections from the game, usually within minutes, sometimes with seconds. Screenshot of error message enclosed.
Also, yes, I have waited before attempting to re-connect. Issue persists.
