Necros aren’t made to be mobile or escape. If you want to live, stay ranged, use chill, cripple, immobilize and fear as much as possible along with epidemic. Stay at the back of your group. Also using death shroud soaks up some damage if it’s not a lot of people chasing you down.

If Necros was given mobility it would be one of the most, if not the most OP class in the game. You need support if you’re running Necro, someone to provide swiftness and stability when necessary. Also having a thief protect you from other thieves is a nice to have.

But when a zerg steamrolls over your group you might as well bend down, but your head between your knees and kiss you kitten goodbye. You aint goin’ nowhere.

Guardians are by far the best class for WvW.

This guy (admittedly he has to be good or the gods must favour him or something), playing a Guardian has a KD ratio of 1:158 and has an average of 97 kills per hour played. That is some SERIOUS survivability.

My point is thieves are annoying yes, but they are far from a one man army.

Mystic Forge RNG crafting & bugs suck!

RNG is RNG, you can’t change that. It’s designed to be random, and that’s what it is.

Back when I first started PvP I crafted myself a full Orrian set for my Necro.
Most of the pieces took about 1-3 tries to craft except the helm which took 14 tries.
After crafting everything except the helm I had 8 tokens left, so naturally I thought I would get it. I did not, so what I did was do more tPvP, salvage all the paid tournament level gear and try again when I get a token. It took a few days of tournaments in the evenings to finally get it.

RNG is RNG, is it flawed? Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t. I do have another idea for the Mystic Forge though.

Instead of giving us 1/1000 chance to get a specified item, let say a precursor, why not make us put 1000 of the specified items in the forge to DEFINITLY get it. That would remove all the complaining about RNG and promote grinding.

But wait, you can’t put 1000 items into the Forge? You could, if they could stack. Maybe give a merchant the ability to swap lvl 80 rares for 1 token and lvl 80 exotics for 2 tokens and then put 4 × 250 stacks of tokens in the Forge to get what you desire.

That would mean 1/3 chance to get the Orrian piece would cost 3 Tokens instead.

This system is obviously flawed in many ways. People will complain about grinding instead of RNG, but people will complain.

Maybe put both in to give choice? Having a choice always reduces the amount of complaints as subconsciously you know you chose this, so it’s your own doing.

RNG is RNG, that’s not going to change soon if ever. So, some good advice: Do more tPvP, salvage the items, try and try again. That’s all there is to do.

Probably 60% of the Necros trying to tell people to be quiet will be complaining as soon as another profession is shot upwards.

This is very true! I would’ve guessed at least 80%

I, being a Necro myself, want them to nerf it a little bit. For those who play PvP a lot, you should know how much of it has been overrun by Necros since the patch.

4-5 Necro teams in tPvP wiping everything in their path without any resistance.

I think a lot of the Necros out there are just afraid of being at the “bottom” again for so long.

I for one don’t know what they mean by that, I did well in PvP with my Necro well before the patch. I could win 90% of my 1v1 matches without problems, even some 2v1 fights. Now the Necro is overpowered, I’ll even go as far as saying it’s the new faceroll class, at least until the next patch.

Why should we accept the poor state of gw2 just because wow is worse (wich is something that is hardly true)?
I mean, thank Anet just because gw2 is not as bad as wow? is that what you look for in an mmo?

Poor state? No. The game is great!
Does it have flaws? Yes. What game doesn’t?
Is the game worth it? HELL YES. Also, no monthly subscriptions.

As me thanking Anet, it’s not because it’s “not as bad as” other MMOs.
I’m thanking them for doing something about it. The massive imbalance of the current Necro is a result of exactly that. They attempted to buff the Necro to be on par with other classes and overshot. Not out of spite or any personal vendetta against the general player, but because of a mistake, which they are trying to fix.

That is why we show appreciation, because they do their best to fix everyone’s complaints and still don’t ask anything in return.

Do you have any idea how huge this game is? Do you know how much work it is just to keep a game like this running, not even considering the new content every 2 weeks? Which you get for FREE by the way.

My personal opinion? Yes, constructive criticism is good. But if you find the game poor and unplayable, nothing is stopping you from playing something else.

Also, contrary to popular belief, there’s nothing wrong with appreciating the game and what ANet is doing for it’s community.

So being a Necromancer (an OP one) I’ve spent the last few days lurking these forums to see if I could catch a glimpse of the upcoming nerf.

All I’ve been seeing is “NECRO IS SO OP OMG QQ, ANET WTF”
Also there is the QQ about the Warrior and Ranger.

Do these classes need work? YES.

BUT, has anyone of you EVER played any other MMO coughWoWcough PvP games?? Do you even know how broken those are?? What we have here at ANet is a wonderful thing, one of, if not the best thought out PvP systems.

ANet, I thank you for that, and looking forward to the balancing patches!

1. Sigil of Paralyzation shouldn’t increase Fear duration.
That would mean getting fear / condition duration runes or Doom won’t tick twice, reducing potential survivability or damage.

2. Make it so that Terror can’t critically hit causing Dhuumfire to proc.
That would remove the “F1→3” 5k damage move.

No major changes, but it should tone down the necro a bit.
Just my 2c.

I don’t play a necro, i have wanted to try one so i come here to look them over, but i have not gotten around to making one, but reading over these forums i see alot fo “I’m a hero, i think they should do XX to Nerf XX on my beloved class the necro”

Seriously.. what the hell, do you know how sickening that is to read? let me point some thing out.

necro as a class haves been the underdog since release, they have been the joke of the game for a long time, Skilled players stuck with it, worked hard to become masters of a flawed class, these players are vastly better players than you get on other classes because they have to work harder to do the same.

Now i ask you, what would happen if these skilled players had their weak flawed class buffed to “PUT THEM IN LINE” with other classes? do you think they would be any less skillful with their class? or do you think they would wipe the floor with anyone not on thier player skill level due to the classes being on an even footing?

I understand that some of you necro players are in shock, it will pass, the fact of the matter is you are not used to being on-par with other classes, all i ask is you give it two months, then let the Skilled known necro players speak out about the changes.

End of rant.

Before the patch I was on par with every other PvP player in our guild. But to achieve that it took more than a month of dedication to my class and working at my build.

Now after the patch, I must admit, I do feel overpowered. But that’s not necessary because the Necro class as a whole is overpowered, just more powerful than we’re all use to.

It can’t be per account as I received the loot on al 5 my characters, but the keys was only consumed on my lvl 80 Main, not the other 4.

Yesterday I was collecting Badges of Honor for a piece of armor. I had only one character and I only needed a few more, so I decided to create 4 more to run the JP in our WvWvW JP for the last few Badges.

So I created the Following:

Race: Human
Sex: Female
Profession: Necromancer

Race: Human
Sex: Female
Profession: Mesmer

Race: Norn
Sex: Male
Profession: Warrior

Race: Sylvari
Sex: Male
Profession: Thief

Note: Earlier yesterday, I ran the same JP with my lvl 80 main and did not experience this issue.

After each of my new 4 characters 1st mission, (as soon as I was able to) I went into the WvWvW (Currently the blue Borderlands on Aurora Glade) and did the JP.

Upon opening the chest I got the rewards including the Badges of honor for each of my characters as expected, but neither the top nor the bottom key was removed from my inventory – This happened across all 4 my new characters, but not on my main.

With these 2 results I will say that the Bars did improve my finds but on the others I am skeptical of the results but make your own deductions.

I have no doubt that the bars will improve your MF if you don’t wear any MF gear.

The problem I’m experiencing is a reduction in MF when I use the food WITH my gear.

You’re not experiencing anything, it’s just your imagination.

Perhaps – Luck is luck – RNG is RNG.

Boon Hate: Bad for WvW Support?

I understand it’s in a useless trait tree, BUT:

The two classes that focuses on boons is Guardians and Elementalists. Being a D/D ele myself with +70% boon duration with most boons up at all times during fights – this will be devastating.

Elementalists are the most squishy class in the game, with the lowest HP and only Light Armor. Boons and healing is the ONLY thing that makes us able to partake in WvWvW.

I don’t know if everyone here realises that there is only 1 feasible build for the ele in WvWvW: bunker build with focus on boon duration. All other builds will result in us being one shot from death or deal no damage whatsoever.

Aaaand it gone…

If it means you can no longer mist off and regen from 10-100% hp in seconds, run back through portals after you are downed, stack umpteen boons and generally be a pain in the kitten to kill after they nerf confusion then I’m all for the change.

Learn to play a different ele build, one that doesn’t rely on a broken mechanic to stack boons and isn’t a gimmick. Actually, just jump on your thief alt, there’s another class that relies on a broken mechanic in the vast majority of cases.

Would be easy to fix d/d eles- 10 second cooldown on boon generation, so after they are stripped it starts a cooldown timer before you could apply them again. Now QQ that it would ruin ‘the only build that works in wvw’.

Firstly, I don’t use the well known Mistform + Healing combo as this was not intended by the developers and feels like an exploit. Boons stacking is the most effective way of increasing damage while still being able to survive for an ele.

Also, I don’t have a thief alt – the playing style doesn’t suit me at all. I like being in the midst of battle.

Should confusion be nerfed? No – actually they could buff confusion in my opinion, I don’t have a Mesmer myself, but they aren’t the challenge in WvW that they are in PvP.

I don’t want to start wars or hate messages here. I’m only giving my opinion on the matter.

Should Warriors be buffed? I don’t know. But buffing them against support builds is a low blow, wouldn’t you say? Especially since Warriors can use ranged.

Suggestion: nametags off for dead players

Agreed – As a D/D ele, I want to focus as much AoE on as many ALIVE enemies as possible. Removing the nametags (or giving us the option to do so) from the dead will improve any and all encounters in WvWvW, not just for me – but basically anyone out there.

Maybe this is coincidence, maybe not, but I have experienced similar situations.

I was farming Karka Shells for 30 min with MF food before I ran out, I got good drops, not great but good. After the food “bonuses” ran out I saw an immediate increase in rare drops.

I have 118% MF without food with a supposed 148% with food.

Maybe this is a bug, maybe its a tooltip error, maybe its just our minds playing tricks.

Some clarity from a dev would be very much welcomed though.
