It seems that for crafted items searching the receipe for the main material (e.g. ore in heavy armor components) returns always a correct value. Thanks for the hint.
I am still not sure how the rare materials work.
For example for both of these helmets, i was unable to get any other ore than mithril:
lvl 70 crafted heavy helm
https://www.gw2spidy.com/recipe/719
lvl 71 loot heavy helm
https://www.gw2spidy.com/item/1697
I used small amounts < 20, so it can be bad luck but there seem to be some items where no ‘rare’ results are available.
Same for:
lvl 45 crafted heavy helm:
https://www.gw2spidy.com/recipe/415 and:
lvl 46 loot heavy helm:
https://www.gw2spidy.com/item/1680
20 times metal only
Then the counter-example:
lvl 22 loot heavy helm:
https://www.gw2spidy.com/item/3248 copper and iron
lvl 25 crafted heavy helm:
https://www.gw2spidy.com/recipe/6777 iron only
lvl 20 crafted heavy helm:
https://www.gw2spidy.com/recipe/523 copper only
Theory:
-If an item is crafted, it will never return other materials than the ones included in the receipe.
-If an item is not craftable and lies between two receipe-ranges (last example), the common drop will be the one from the lower receipe and the rare one will be from the heigher receipe.
-Not sure about loot which is in the same level range as one receipe category, i will run some passes on my item and receipe data and try to confirm/refute
-Same for t6 mats: unable to get orichalcum from this crafted lvl 80 heavy helmet (expected if the theory is valid) https://www.gw2spidy.com/recipe/727
however, this loot lvl 80 helm https://www.gw2spidy.com/item/3170 drops orichalcum. Maybe loot items at lvl 70+ can always drop t6 mats?
Have you ever watched an item and thought: ‘What are the expected results if I salvage this item?’
My goal is to predict which items i can expect from salvaging a given item.
Note that this is not about any chances or salvage kits, I am only interested in the possible outcome items.
The Problem is, there are 32206 salvagable items and building rules for the outcome gets really tricky in some special cases. Wiki is not really helpful here and research on various guides or reddit offers different results.
Thanks in advance for everyone, who can help me out with some of the following questions:
1. Starting with the tiers, I am unable to find a clear specification which crafting tier i can expect from which item (level). My assumption is something like
0-12: t1 only
13-22: kitten rare
23-26: t2 only
27-33: t2,t3 rare
34-42: t3 only
43-49: t3,t4 rare
50-56: t4 only
57-63: t4, t5 rare
54-72: t5 only
73+: t4, t6 rare
Can someone confirm/refute this?
E.g an item on lvl 53 which can be salvaged to t5 items in some cases?
1.1.
Are there inconsistencies between different items/item groups?
E.g. a lvl 22 armor which can be salvaged to copper and iron but a lvl 22 greatsword which will always return copper/iron but not both?
Special case here: Are there inconsistencies between armor-parts, e.g. a 22 helmet which returns only t1 but a 22 chestpiece from the same set which returns t1/t2?
2.
Weapons: Which weapons can be salvaged into ore only, which return ore and wood and which return wood only?
2.1. Any inconsistencies here?
3. Has the item rarity any influence on the salvagable tiers?
4. Which gemstones drop from which jewlery?
5. Any more special stuff I did not thought of?
I already got things like the special cases for ore (armor should always drop iron instead of silver/gold on t2 and t3
I wonder how high the price of shadow abyss dye will rise in the tp?
Just some math for the gold-gm vs gold-dye conversion:
Assuming you have a fair chance for all 25 dyes and you buy 25 kits for 2.5k gems.
The gems would cost more than 400 gold, with the conversion rate from the previous days roughly 340 gold.
In addition you pay more in the tp for the non-gambling but get other dyes on the other hand if you gamble.
All in all I would expect the dye to go up to around 300+ gold very fast in the tp.
Did I miss something or is now a good time to buy the color while it is cheap for some gold instead of gambling lots of gems?
