Diablo 3 has an even worse end game and every reviewer praised it. The overall reception has been turrible.
We’re in the age of the consumer with social media reigning supreme. The power of word of mouth these days is much more useful than some editor and “their” opinions.
And speaking of word of mouth, GW2 advertising was just that through social media. Rarely came across an ad about GW2 or a commercial.
People bashing GW2 simply look up their Twitter following list or Facebook profile. More than likely they’re in love with Blizzard.
Have you seen the metacritic responses with Diablo 3, WoW and compared to GW2? Normally trolls are around but, imagine that, good games just don’t get trolled by the internets. Starcraft 2 surely didn’t get trolled and they had the same issues with Diablo 3 – Always online, and no LAN support.
My issue is quite weird. Game runs fine but, when I pull up my contact list, my FPS drops tremendously. When I close it, my FPS comes back.
Is this something that’s known or am I the only one having this issue?
Running an AMD Phenom II 720, GTX 460 with the latest drivers (306.23), Intel 120GB SSD, 8GB DDR2 RAM.
This was happening before I updated my video card drivers. Thought the issue would go away after the latest update but it still persists.
Once again, everywhere else it’s fine. Oddly enough it’s only when I pull up my friends list.
If you want, Northern Shiverpeaks is still recovering from the mass exodus of people since the Ascension Alliance left. We’re in the bottom of the barrel in the ranks thanks to the exodus but, things are looking up. We’ve been winning again and in our current matchup, we’re dominating the other two servers – Kaineng and Devona’s Rest.
We were a medium pop now turned into a high pop.
If you want a challenge to reach to the top (again), Northern Shiverpeaks may be for you. On top of that, Little to no WvW queues.
Biased mode aside, If you really want a challenge, Kaineng really needs help. I say that not even coming from that server. Feel bad for those folks everytime we face them. Everytime I’ve seen Kaineng, they’re always turtling because they have no numbers to attack lol.
SW:TOR since June. Before that was WoW from launch till last Dec.

Have you ever been apart of a rebuilding situation? If not it’s going to be painful but the rewards are well worth it. Also does Borlis Pass have their own server forums?
Those of us who remained behind pretty much accepted the fact that we’ll be in the bottom of the barrel. Had to learn how to play and win.
I seriously have no idea why people are bailing at the first sign of trouble. Leaving to join a high pop server just to sit on the sidelines? That’s like saying “I’d rather see better players in the WvW and I’m not good enough”. Really you’re better off without those people. Had similar people here bail the moment Ascension Alliance left our server. They wanted to be carried by AA but, when AA’s back started to hurt, they found a new one in HoD, JQ, Sea of Sorrows etc.
Having said all of this, if you feel like you’re the one doing all the work with little to no support, well I don’t blame you one bit. At least you tried to salvage.
Also if you know you’re going to lose, you may as well buckle in a fort and build a crap ton of weapons. When a zerg from another server comes storming in, destroy them and be amazed with all the badges you’ll have. It was probably our lowest point in Northern Shiverpeaks. Badge farming and turtling with alot of weapons built.
Free transfers to lower tier realms
pay to move to higher tier realm
I agree with this one. In addition let the guilds who transfer keep their influence points. There are some guilds out there who want to transfer but risk losing all their points.
i can live with it IF they limited it based on server populations, you should really only be able to transfer to low population servers
agreed
the funny thing is.. the community is nearly unanimous in this
those who are on the stacked servers: Denravi, Eradon Terace, JAde Quarry, Stormbluff DO NOT WANT their queues getting worse
and those on instant queues server wishes there were more people playing in wuvwuv
Very much agree here. Free transfers should only be available to destination realms in low/medium populations with little/no WvW queue. People are complaining so much about 3-4 hour queues while I’m racking up the badges on a med pop server.
The point is to only allow free transfers to lower pop servers. Anyway, first night of the week long match and my fear has been realised. I’ve already spoken to two folks who are transferring because of the low wvw population of the server I am on… Anet have dropped to ball on guiding players towards balancing server pops. They recommend the community disperse but provide no incentive to do so… guilds lose xp and you can still transfer to high pop servers.
If it makes you feel any better, my server is having a similar issue. Not even two weeks in and there’s some dying server communities without even being established. With the free transfers, that’s what bothers me the most. The flakes bail the moment a loss occur and, with 1 week long matches, this one will hurt alot more.
In a sense though it’s good for us. Rather have the people willing to work together anyway instead of the flakes looking for the easy way.
My guild would transfer to a lower population server in a heartbeat, the problem is the amount of time and effort we’ve put in to unlocking guild rewards will be wasted, some of those rewards cost real cash… And it’s cash we don’t intend to spend twice.
Is there a way arenanet can consider letting guilds that leave high population world’s to smaller population world’s bring their unlocked guild research with them for a short period of time? Perhaps before 2 week matches start.
I think this would help a lot. If a guild is transferring to a lower population server, let them take all of their earnings with them to the new server. If they want to move to a higher pop server, then things can work as they do now and they will have to re-earn their upgrades.
This discourages people from flocking to the winning servers and encourages people to spread out the population.
If this kind of a change were made before transfers get locked down, it would be helpful. Afterwards it will be harder for guilds to move as all of their players will need to make the sacrifice.
Totally agree. At least during the free transfer period to help improve WvW queues, have guilds retain their influence when transferring.
Besides, there are some servers that has zero queues for WvW. Kaineng especially needs help, and I’m not even from that server. Not because they’re last but, when placed against them, you don’t see a whole lot of them on the field.
Edit: Even on the losing side there are some benefits. If you want badges, just stick to one fort and stay there while the 100’s of people try and zerg you. Already have 300+ of badges in the first full week of WvW.
IMO, that’s way more than someone spending hours sitting in the queue and then dominating the map. If you want to badge farm, come to a low/med pop server.
I know it sounds strange but, when you start building many things into a single fort and 2 servers are constantly energizing you, that victim will end up with more badges.
Broken but, beneficial to the losing team at least.

Appreciate the response and it’s pretty much what I was anticipating as the response.
Servers such as Kaineng, Ferguson, Northern Shiverpeaks, or any medium pop server for that matter need some love. Especially from the oceanic communities. In majority of WvWvW matches, some are won/lost dependant on how big the oceanic community the server has.
These servers have something to offer which is instant queues. If that’s what people want I really recommend heading to any one of those said medium pop servers.
Also I do agree with guilds maintaining the influence gained while transferring. At least it’ll make the decision to leave a whole lot easier.
NSP had some organization but, AA bailed. The people who tried to rally what was left of the server also ended up bailing.
There needs to be some form of parity but, since we the people are more in control of that, I don’t see this happening at all. That’s something Arenanet can’t fix since we’re the problem and the solution to this.
I think NSP and Kaineng needs a server merge. Does Kaineg even have any Oceanic representation? Because we have literally none.
The easiest fix is for Arenanet to end the free transfers. There’s been so much flakiness going on with people’s sudden urge to server hop. No matter where those top guilds go, the sheep will follow.
Northern Shiverpeaks is a casualty in this whole mess. Once a very full server has now become a barren wasteland. All it took was one loss and the mass exodus occured. Apparently long queue times were the reason as well but hey, it’s happening with all the servers.
You picked that server to join the “winning team”, deal with the queues. After AA left Northern Shiverpeaks, longest I’ve ever waited in the WvWvW queue is 5 mins.
