Giving up on it. I wasted over 35g on gear just to even get ‘close’ to having a chance at beating Liadri. It’s frustrating because the reward for beating her is a mini, and as someone who’s collected every single mini to date, this is where it comes to an end.
Great post! Any tips on using the third skill [The lightning pull]? That’s the one I have the most trouble with, given it either launches you too short, too far or not at all on most occasions.
I have ~300-500 ping
Lightning jump is the worst offender, sometimes it flings you way past where you’re supposed to land, sometimes it comes up short. Both end up with you (me) going from 1st place to 6th place repeatedly.
Worst thing that happens is when you fall and rubberband between where you landed and where you respawned, then you loop between the two locations for quite a bit.
Exactly this. The lightning pull results in falling short most of the time, then rubber banding between landing and respawning for as much as 20 seconds at a time.
The air jump skill has a bad case of rubber banding as well. The only one out of the three that works just fine is the sun sprint.
It’s truly a shame that this isn’t taken into consideration when programming content like this. It’s even been stated by ArenaNet on several occasions that the lag between Oceania and their servers is purely on their end and they’ve been ‘looking into it’ for over 8 months now.
I was really looking forward to giving Sanctum Sprint a try, however everything turned upside down upon realising just how ridiculous it is to complete, let alone aim for a top 3 placement.
The activity itself is very easy and straightforward, however the issue itself lays with the fact that, if you live overseas in a location such as Australia, the amount of rubber banding and lag on jumping skills is unbearable. This isn’t only limited to the current Living Story events, but other activities such as the Dragon Bash mini game, Super Adventure Box mushrooms and the like.
It’s a letdown for this to constantly hinder ones ability to complete all the temporary content achievements time and time again.

I can understand that, but this is absolutely nothing to do with my connection. It’s to do with the fact that ArenaNet has yet to acknowledge that the problem is on their end and not on the end of the hundreds, if not thousands of people that are experiencing this issue, and have been since launch.
It just feels like a matter of being cheated for something that’s not the consumer’s fault to begin with.
I’ve noticed there’s a bug involving the Moa racing, where upon placing a bet, if you happen to disconnect or get logged off between the time you placed the bet and the end of the race, your bet is automatically forfeited and the money is not returned to you.
Considering network issues still haven’t been fixed after 8 months of forum posts, this is just poor programming to say the least.
Anyone else been experiencing this issue?
It’s probably the most fun I’ve had in a long time. I’ve never seen battles this big even since the Beta.
Very much agreed with many of the people in the thread. It’s dumb luck – you aren’t achieving anything at all by getting it. Perhaps if it were modified or just removed completely..?
EDIT: If anyone is willing to coordinate going to a lower populated server in hopes of doing this, I’d be more than happy to do that.

I’m unsure if this has been put anywhere else before / answered, however I often spend a lot of time just jumping around, looking at all the nooks and crannies of the cities of Tyria.
This particular part has caught my eye. [See attachment]
As you can see in the corner, there’s some sort of golden / red emblem. The location of this is in a small cave behind the Trading Post in Lion’s Arch.
At large, this really isn’t too much of a find, but it was enough to poke at my interest.
Does anyone have an idea of what this might be / if it appears anywhere else in the game?
Some screens showing the location in proximity to the trading post:

Couldn’t agree more to be honest. I honestly believe Anet should add in a title for it and perhaps not require 5[?] legendaries, but rather 1 – 3 instead.
Carrion Acolyte Mask [Dropped]
Mountainous Mantle [Karma Item]
Light Mortal Garb of Grenth [Karma Item\
Knight’s Exalted Gloves [Crafted]
Knight’s Exalted Pants [Crafted]
Sorcerer’s Shoes [T3 Human Cultural]
Sometimes I use Commando’s Coat which is a personal story reward in place of the Garb.
Currently looking for NA server Balth!
So I’m guessing that there’s not going to be any such solution for this any time soon?
EDIT: So after playing around for a week or so now, I figured with the Netgear D6300, you have to switch on DMZ and set the default gateway / address for the DMZ to 192.168.0.1
You can find this under advanced settings, just look around in there until you see something that mentions DMZ. So far I’ve had about 2 hours of non-interrupted play.
EDIT 2: This setting fixes the issues with GW2, however it breaks Steam, causing it to continually disconnect. Use at your own discretion.

Tried old drivers, new drivers, router settings, repaired the client, re-downloaded the client, graphics settings, driver settings. The black screen feels constant and it’s about enough to force me into quitting.
I have a i7 3770k @ 3.5ghz, 8gb DDRs 1600mhz Ram, EVGA 660Ti 3GB SC. Netgear D6300 router.
@stormleaf.
pets are far less accessible I have all the halween ones for little cost, that was a great implementation of collectors content.
theyve also stated that holiday content will not be identical year to year so those pets may not even exist next year.As for details on the events.
Bell Choir – I cannot join this with my friends or without other players to play any kind of tune as it puts me with a bunch of random people, so it just ends up sounding like a bunch of random bells. ( I was unaware this was ingame music, as like many other people i play with ingame music off, this was a nice idea but what about xmas carols or something more recognisable?)SnowBall PvP – Again unable to join with friends and/or guildmates as its a random match up, knockdown achievement requires you to get the Killing blow to count.
Being unable to do activities with friends easily means the activities are worthless? That seems ridiculously unfair. For bells, you’re free to learn the music you’re familiar with, or you can also try to get on the same stage as people who score highly; they usually sound better than the people who don’t.
If you want the rest, then do what a true collector actually needs to do, and fork over the gold/cash until you get them. You do not deserve them simply because you want them, unfortunately. That you can honestly call it a ruinous flaw to not be guaranteed four more of them—despite the fact that you can easily get more than you got for Halloween already—reeks of greed and laziness on your part, I’m sorry to say.
Did he say at all that the events were worthless without friends? No.
The Bell Choir is ridiculous – I didn’t recognise any of the tunes and even on a high scoring ‘stage’, we were all out of sync thanks to latency issues, so it still just sounded like bell spam.
As for pets, what you claim simply isn’t true. Guess what? There are at least NINE pets in this holiday. You can get at least two for basically nothing. You can get three more by paying gems for them. You have to gamble for the other four. That means you are guaranteed to get five of them with a fixed amount of gems, which is already more than the total number of Halloween pets.
Actually, it is true. You contradicted yourself here. All the Halloween minis were essentially guaranteed if you paid the bare minimum to get them. With Wintersday, you’re not guaranteed to get them all unless you fork out a ridiculous amount of money. Personally, I spent $40 just to get each of the 3 initial minis and as a collector, I was disappointed to find that we would be required to spend more money again just to get the 5 extra ‘toys’. It doesn’t matter if there are more or less minis than Halloween – the problem lays within the fact that you’re required to spend more money than the cost of the game itself just to get them.
Are you simply just refusing to acknowledge that there are some serious issues with this event?
