Unfortunatelly I have the same problem. It began in episode 8. I sent several emails to Arenanet support system but they have not been able to solve the problem.
By chance, I managed to finish episode 8 but then again the same problem appeared in episode 12.
I have tuned my graphics card according to the manufacturer adviced settings for this game. I also have tried using the 64 bit client instead of the 32 bit old one… but unsuccessfully.
At the moment, Arenanet support system believes that its a problem with my internet conection… I do not really think so.
Anyway, more than 20 emails sent and no solution yet.
If only they agreed on sending the reward and setting that episode as finished so that I could go on with the living story..

P.D: Should I change the DNS in my router / cable modem as well?
Theres a problem with some DNS routes, and nd estrangely with everything involving silverwastes and Living World Season 2 private instance.
I solved this by changing my Google DNS DNS to OpenDNS.
The Anet has to pay attention to this problem. Not all players have advanced knowledge like me.
The symptoms are more severe when entering private instance of “Living World Season 2”. The problem disappeared when I stopped using GoogleDNS.
Other procedures:
DNS cache cleaning
Reconnect after clearing the cache.

I would like to know if using third party software such as WTFast is allowed to solve some “disconnected from server” problems I have. Let me explain my problem.
I’m experiencing some problems that make impossible for me to go on with the new HoT story. Currently, I managed to get to Act II and I’m at City of Hope. I have tried it more than five times and after the final video, game crashes and I’m back to the login screen with a “disconected from server” error.
There seem to be a 1% packet loss in some machine with IP 10.245.12.177 placed somewhere in between my PC and NcSoft servers. According to Arenanet’s customer service that’s the reason why I get disconnected. My PC is connected via ethernet (no wifi) with my cable-modem and my ISP service has granted that there is no problem with my internet connection (in fact, while being disconnected from GW2 servers, I’m connected with my guild mates by TeamSpeak without any problems)
Do you think I could solve this “disconnected from server” problem by using third-party programs such as WTFast? And the most important question: are this programs allowed or I could be banned?

It seems that ArenaNet is working together with BT in order to solve the conectivity problems with european servers. I’m very glad to hear that. At least, ArenaNet reccognices that there is a problem. However, according to this post (I’m sorry, but it is in spanish) https://forum-es.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Problema-con-ono, ArenaNet is not working together with ONO (an spanish ISP) to solve the same conectivity problems we have in Spain.
David Ortiz ( European Community Team Lead) has just written a post in the aforementioned forum telling us that ONO has not contacted ArenaNet yet. I’m sure ArenaNet is not only focused in solving conectivity problems with BT and not with ONO, but I encourage ArenaNet network team to conctact ONO in order to work together and solve our conectivity problems as well. I honestly think I’m not asking for anything special. Just the same that british users (BT) have from ArenaNet.
