This is really disappointing. While I can appreciate porting over changes that have been made for the Chinese release, this feels like the same thing we have been complaining about for the past few months.
ArenaNet has been working on features we don’t want and haven’t asked for to break into a new market, all the while telling us they are too busy to work on the changes we have requested.
And the likely response will be “just wait for the CDI”
I think the secret recipe is for a very special gilded sink, which would allow an individual player to single-handedly keep the economy balanced.
I’m certainly no Kippling. Kippling is good.
The Marshal Sallies Forth
The Marshal sallies forth today
He leads the army strong.
His airships climbing to great Re
To fight the dragon throng.
He stands before his men in reign
His speeches, O’ valedictory.
Yea, nary that this day shall wane
’fore our marshal brings us victory.
He comes with shining Caladbolg.
He leads the armies by his hand.
And though the Dragon looms e’re tall
There shall be victory by his command.
Gripe not! Yea common servant, poor
Lend not your mews unto his ear.
For the Marshal stands here at your door
He comes to take all you hold dear.
For though this scholar of great renown
Has bested Zhaitan, his sacred charge.
His ego is greater than a town
His narcissism is quite large.
He promises an ill-fated end
Though never this portent is realized.
He plays the hero through this trend
So that he may be idealized.
Harken, Marshal, unto my words
Before your actions cause a coup.
I have but one exclaim to gird
Verily, I say, “kitten you.”
John, could we get some numbers on what the current wealth distribution is?
This is also bugged on Crystal Desert.
Will there be new collectible slots for new crafting materials?
Mods, I noticed a minor security issue last week. I sent a PM to Mike Lewis detailing the issue about 4 days ago. I just want to make sure it gets seen and fixed promptly.
Jeffry, you should probably add the new Jumping Puzzle in Caer Avil to the patch notes, as it is the only way to get out of the instance.
I have seen people pop NPC services like BLTC or Bank right on top of the ghost that needs to be spoken to, making it nearly impossible to select them.
Thanks Jon. Any word on when you plan to to roll out a fix for the bug effecting DR on risen drops that some of us are experiencing.
These porous bones just aren’t cutting it.
Can someone clarify EXACTLY what the problem is? I just see people saying they get DR and how they hate it. Yet didn’t Anet say it was implemented to stop players from abusing game mechanics? I guess I just have yet to see anyone clarify exactly what they are dong to get DRs. I’ve yet to see DRs once and I’ve been playing since early access. If the system is to stop abusing game mechanics, then why is this so bad? From a rationale standpoint I just do not understand the outcry.
If someone could clarify what exactly they are doing when they get DRs it would be greatly appreciated.
Irish, if you look back at some of my posts / threads, you can see a good chunk of information on this.
The issue I have with the DR is that, even though I am not farming, I am getting hit by diminished drops. I don’t farm DEs, don’t grind the same mobs over and over again, yet whenever I play Orr, I get severely reduced drops (either nothing or porous bones). This is the result of playing the game exactly as is intended. It is incredibly frustrating and really hampers me from playing in any meaningful way.
Again, there seem to be several triggers that become pretty clear when you look at the reports of it popping. Neither does it seem complex nor unpredictable to a certain degree if you look at it, barring any bugs. It quite clearly starts stacking percentage decreases of rewards once you meet certain conditions. Those conditions seem to be related to two major variables:
-Amount of Dynamic Events completed.
-Time taken to complete them.
Are there any more factors determining it? Probably. I do not remember claiming otherwise anywhere. Nor claiming I know exactly how it works. Based on all the collected data, these two things seem pretty certain though. Feel free to correct me if you have any additional data or see something I don’t.
And yeah, claiming to have (or not have) qualifications in Internet forums as a way of strengthening your own argument is a very slippery slope that has no relevance to anything. Facts contradicting my own conclusions are probably a better idea.
Here’s the issue with this. We have no way of knowing what triggers the bugs. This makes the system unpredictable. Why is my normal play getting caught by the DR, while some people have already been able to get legendary weapons? How come after 2 weeks of playing Orr, I have collected only 3 tier 6 fine crafting materials, while others are able to obtain enough tier 6 fine crafting material in a few hours for a full exotic set?
As long as we don’t know why these things happen, the system is unpredictable. At least if I knew what was causing the DR to erroneously kick in for me, I could avoid it.
The fact that this game has only been live for five weeks, and you are already more than 50% to a legendary item proves that ArenaNet’s anti-farming system is not strict enough. Legendary weapons should be the accomplishment of a GAMETIME, not something you crank out in two months.
So once you get your legendary weapon, what do you plan on doing? Your only focus in the game has been farming, so what will you do when the farming is complete? Are you just not going to have any more fun, and quit playing?
This right here is the mindset that ANET is trying to defeat. Fun comes before farming, and if the only fun you get in MMOs is earning that new item with that different-color name – then you’re playing the wrong game.
You realize that all you are getting for all this effort and all this crying is a few more stat-points, and an item-model that will tell everyone in WvWvW to kill you first.
Meanwhile there are people like me:
- Still haven’t run every wing of each dungeon.
- 0% towards any legendary weapon.
- Only have one piece of karma exotic.
BUT…
- having a blast.
Please stop trying to make a job out of our video game, just because you don’t know anything but work.
This completely ignores the fact that the DR is hitting those who are not farming, who are nowhere near a legendary, and who are playing the game as intended. I am one of the many who has been hit by the DR while playing the game precisely how it is intended.
It does not ignore that. The post above is in response to that very issue. He advocates stricter DR thresholds. I don’t know if I agree, but his argument is well thought out and valid. I wish I could up vote it.
Here is the flaw. While it is true the DR has not hit certain people, allowing them to get legendary items very quickly, it has disproportionately hit others, such as myself, who are playing the game as intended. There is not much you can do in a game when your only drops are porous bones.
Yama, I’m not sure you actually read my posts. I am in no way farming. I run around doing DEs as they pop up (not a part of a zerg or anything like that). I kill mobs that aggro me as I do map completion or explore. I play the game exactly as intended.
I don’t do the same DE repeatedly. I don’t stand in the same spot to kill the same mobs.
I’m not sure how you can classify that playstyle as farming. I am simply playing the game as intended.

I think it is important to note that the DR does not just effect Karma, DEs, or those that farm or “grind.”
I’ve been playing the game as intended and have been hit with major DR on drops, specifically for Risen mobs for the past 2 weeks.
I have been keeping track of the issue here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Anti-Bot-code-kicking-in-from-regular-play/first
The grub message is because the drops have been removed to prevent farming. It has nothing to do with the anti-bot code.
Just a quick update.
I logged in last night after the patch and found the exact same issue. Whether it was randomly killing risen mobs of different types or doing (non-zerg) DEs, I would go for 50-60 kills, getting nothing, then get a few porous bones. I should note there are a couple DE’s that seem to give me proper rewards, but the vast majority give me nothing from drops. I have also noticed no difference in drops between over 100% MF and 0% MF
It is very frustrating as it makes crafting, gearing, making money, or really anything very difficult.
So I did a bit more testing. After 36 hours of not killing any risen (mostly doing WvW but also some low level areas), I went back to get the map completion on Malchor’s Leap and I am still not getting much (except porous bones) from risen. In that same zone, I can kill sparks and elementals and get decent rewards, but nothing from any risen mob.
As far as I can tell, even waiting 1.5 days doesn’t reset my anti-bott hell.
Rage, that is great that the system is working for you like that. The nature of this bug is that the system is not resetting for some people, hence the frustration.
Yesterday, I started off in Cursed Shore and was getting porous bones and whites (with 110% MF). I went back and played Bloodtide Coast with a friend of mine for a couple hours. As long as we were not fighting risen, I was getting normal drops. As soon as we fought risen, I was back to anti-bot hell.
Doesn’t matter how much time I take off, what I fight to reset it, how many DEs I do. It seems to only reset for me on a server reset.
First off Rage, this post is about regular non-dungeon rewards. I did a search and found nothing regarding this particular issue.
Second, the problem that is causing the dungeon rewards is related to speed clearing and is a different mechanism than the one found after grinding mobs.
This seems to be an unrelated issue from the dungeon rewards.
I’ve noticed over the past week that the anti-bot code has been kicking in, especially on risen mobs. I haven’t been farming them or grinding the same mob over and over again. I have found it kicks in from simply regularly playing Orr: fighting random mobs, doing DEs, and finishing map completion.
I noticed today when playing with a friend in Bloodtide Coast that I was getting drops for all mobs except risen. I went for 40-50 risen kills while doing a DE and heart in the area and got 4 porous bones out of all of it.
It is very frustrating to play the game as intended and still get hit with low to no rewards.
I just logged in. The month changed from August to September, but it is still bugged and stuck on the EXP requirement.
So no fix.
What I have found is typically, they respond quickly to the bugs they know how to fix, and ignore the ones they don’t know how to fix until they figure it out. I wouldn’t expect to hear anything on this until they are ready or very close to rolling out a fix.
Mine is so bugged that after getting two levels from crafting 51-52 and raising 100 levels in crafting in a single hour, it still did not move.
That is bug. Other professions can equip and underwater elite.
Title says it all. As an Elementalist, I can unlock tornado, but I can’t equip it underwater to use Whirlpool in PvE.
My guild has researched the Guild Bank, and I am representing, but when I go talk to the Guild Bank NPC, she simply says I need to join a guild.
I had it reset on me without dying, leaving the zone, going to instance, logging off, or even teleporting. I Am stuck at ~94,000k with no way to increase.
