Lionguard keeping an eye on Twilight Arbor?

Fare enough. I realize Lion’s Arch already had a presence in Caledon Forest and I understand how the story lead up to this making it not completely out of place. Points taken.

I guess I’d just prefer/like the other city states to exercise more agency. There are five other cities, for the five races, besides Lion’s Arch but by and large they’ve been neglected after you clear the early levels. Does it make sense for Lion’s Arch having taken the spotlight? Sure, it is after all a neutral party and the trade center. But on the other hand, at least in my opinion, it risks becoming over used and leaves great potential stories untapped. All the unique lore of the five races and the three orders as well is just left sitting there. I’m not saying necessarily that the Living Story up till now hasn’t included these elements or that it hasn’t been good. I’m saying they haven’t been the focus. I think a more balance approach to the living story/content updates for PvE is needed. Introduce some new but also expand on the old foundations that are just begging to become something deep and enthralling. Sure involve Lion’s Arch but don’t be afraid to have something unique and exclusive to one of the other race cities/countries. And for the love of Dwayna, introduce more permanent content and tie ins to GW1 lore while your at it!

Queen’s Jubilee (as someone mentioned) and Twilight Assault seem to be a start in moving in that direction. I hope they go further.

Lionguard keeping an eye on Twilight Arbor?

Why is the Lionguard keeping an eye on Twilight Arbor (see the description of the next patch here: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/october-01-2013/)? I understand they have been involved in the Scarlet storyline and that they represent a neutral city but it doesn’t make sense lore-wise. First, Lion’s Arch is supposed to be a city run by pirate captains, right? It is a neutral place where anyone can go practically. Lion’s Arch is concerned about making money and because of that doesn’t poke their heads around in other people’s, or in this case Sylvari, business. Considering the Sylvari and especially Caithe have always kept a close eye on Twilight Arbor (it is in there back yard after all!) it would make more sense for the discovery to be made by them and they alert the Lion Guard. But again, why would they? I guess I’m failing to see the connection between the Caledon Forest and Lion’s Guard. I realize they keep roads open and protect their interests in trade but this seems a bit much.

Now I know the patch hasn’t even been released so it might end up making sense. Still considering this I feel the developers are leaning too much on Lion’s Arch as a neutral city/central hub when they design their content. I personally would like to see more content exclusively showcasing the other cities and their races along with unique storylines for the packs, all of which seem to have just been forgotten about since the release. I’d even like to see festivals unique to the races too. What about an annual science fair festival for the Asura held in Rata Sum, for example? I think this will add more flavor and meat to the updates/events. I’m personally pretty bored of Lion’s Arch and it isn’t like it’s hard for players to travel to the other cities. Who knows even with the Lionguard involvement, Twilight Assault might be the first move in this direction. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Regardless I’m excited to be able to fight alongside Caithe again!

Thoughts on Ascended Gear? [Merged threads]

I’ll keep my post simple. ArenaNet please stop the introduction of the gear grind treadmill here. Please keep to your philosophy of making a game that is about having a fun time playing it and not about having to play to have the best gear so then, maybe, you can finally have fun. If you have noticed that the current customization and layout of gear is not working than please fix that but don’t introduce more powerful gear.

I know people have been complaining about a lack of power progression and not feeling super-uber 1337 in the low levels. Remember though that this isn’t what you designed your game around. This game was made so when it all comes down to it it will be about skill and having fun, growing more powerful with experience and learning. Your company use to champion that friends of all levels can have fun together and still get rewarded for playing together. This isn’t the case anymore. For high level characters it is boring to go to low level areas when playing with friends or to work on map completion and the rewards are awful. Please don’t make the same mistake with gear progression and sacrifice fun game play and accessibility for the illusion of power.

As ArenaNet said themselves, this game will not be for everyone. Please don’t try and make it appeal to everyone now because you’ll end up not appealing to anyone in particular and end up making GW2 vanilla.

As players we have yet to see this new gear and can only base our thoughts on what has been presented to us on how it might affect a game that we love. I know that you love this game too and put hard work into it and wouldn’t just throw something in here all willy-nilly. Even so please listen to our initial thoughts on this matter.

DR in WvW

in WvW

I can’t confirm or prove wrong this claim with hard facts about DR in WvW, but I do believe something is going on. I played quite a bit of WvW before launch and shortly after but stopped playing till recently to complete my Personal Story and World Completion. I recently went into WvW on Sunday and something seemed wrong. Earlier when I had played WvW it seemed like I got a bag of loot for most of my player kills, which was nice since the rewards would come in bursts and it made up a bit for the fact that it is annoying to try and make sure you pick them up before moving to your next objective or if the battle turns for the worse. Now though, it seems that I get bags less often when getting player kills and the loot isn’t very good. Again to make up for not getting loot constantly like in PvE and for much higher repair costs in comparison the loot in WvW before seemed to be properly set at pretty good and above the average gained to its PvE equivalents. Now though it is about the same which is an issue.

I really appreciate ArenaNet is working hard to fight the botting issue in GW2, but I strongly urge them to take a look at the DR systems and loot tables and try and find other solutions to the problem (which I’m guessing your already doing). Part of the fun experience of the game is torn away when you are or it seems you’re no longer rewarded in a way that seems fitting for your skill and time invested in the game and when you feel constrained by some unknown set of code that limits what and how long you can enjoy an aspect of the game before you’ll get punished for doing so.

Everyone, this is a complex issue which involves many different things. As you can probably guess there likely won’t be any easy fix. Keep on posting your problems and offer up some ideas on solutions to help ArenaNet. Offering up some encouragement would be awesome too!

Thanks for your hard work ArenaNet!

I agree with, Beebsman, thank you for your hardwork. The game is a joy to play. Unfortunately, I have to report that the Erredon Terrace’s Liberation Dell, Fireheart Rise, Skillpoint is still bugged. The NPC you are supposed to fight is nowhere to be found.
