I don’t like Trahearne at all, but I could care less if I’m the center of the story. Most games that are released put you at the role of Messiah. I tend to prefer TSW’s approach at making you just one piece of a big puzzle.

I’m over being the all-conquering hero.

I too, do not like Trhearne. It’s not because he’s the leader of the Pact. I wouldn’t even mind being just another soldier in the fight. Frankly, I get tired of being the Messiah of every game. One of the reasons I enjoyed TSW’s story so much is that I was just another cog in the machine.

Trahearne is simply too implausible as a leader. He’s supposed to be Marshal of the forces of the pact and we don’t really see any experience in his background that would make him a leader of people, let alone a sound military mind. I suppose he’s supposed to be a “natural” or a “hidden gem” that rises to this very powerful and influential position, but I’m not buying it.

I would like to be rid of him. I vote that he be eaten by a dragon.

I don’t like this change. It’s the wrong way to fix a problem. I am worried about how this will change WvW in a negative way. Entire strategies are often built around the progression of conquest with the taking of an orb being the primary goal. I believe this will make WvW less strategic, less interesting, reallly.

I agree there is definitely a problem. It bothers me that this is the best possible solution.

WvW will be more competitive once server populations stabilize and Anet stops free transfers. Also, it will be much better when servers find the tiers they are most competitive in. Making any other major changes is short sighted, in my opinion.

This is, in fact, the very rare candy corn tree. Great forests of these trees spanned thousands of acres across the continent once upon a time. However, overlogging by huge corporations like Brachs and Mars have driven this prized leafy delight to the brink of extinction. It’s a shame, really.

Why does my character often do little or zero damage on the supply camp supervisors? It doesn’t always happen that way. Sometimes I’m part of a group that takes forever to damage the supervisor down and other times they go down quick. What am I missing?

Well, maybe not critical, but really important. I’m not talking about who wins and who loses, but how they win and lose. There have been quite a few lopsided matches this week (a few close battles too) and no comment from Anet about balance concerns. I can understand that to some degree.

However, if the next round shows another big series of blowouts, I’m afraid it could result in people leaving WvW (and possibly, the game) in large numbers. My hope is that this week was an anomoly while the server populations adjust and players/guilds develop from a tactical perspective. I don’t like the thought of blowouts being the rule rather than the exception.

I recall when I played Warhammer Online that defending forces would cram themselves into the gate entrance when the door was breached in order to prevent the enemy from entering the keep. What ensued was a hellish melee and one side would win and the other wipe.

Has anyone tried that in WvW? Is it possible? Honestly, I haven’t actually noticed if there is collision detection in WvW. Naturally, if we just pass through enemy players then that tactic is completely useless.

Assuming we have collision detection, clogging up a breach with defenders and having arrow carts behind them would create a significant body count.

It’s happening across multiple servers. I’m SoR and we wiped a bunch from GoM. Botting pisses me off in general, but botting in WvW really pisses me off because it affects a server’s ability to compete and it takes up server spots for players who may be in queue.

I had a great time on WvW last night. I’m SoR and the GoM and YB BLs were nicely contested for a while. It was a fun time. Unfortunately, based on a score that I saw this morning it appears that everything appears to have shifted back to SoR again. Who the heck on my server is playing like that all night? There’s this thing God invented; it’s called sleep…

I don’t know that I agree with all of the problems described by the OP’s post, but I do believe there are problems with WvW as it stands right now. I’m SoR and we are absolutely murdering our opponents right now. That’s boring. People on our server find it boring. We all want a competitive match, not facerolling boredom.

That said, any approach to “fixing” the problems can’t be a knee jerk reaction. Sometimes, the cure is worse than the disease. Hopefully, when/if Anet directs its attention to WvW, they take a conservative approach to making WvW a more competitive feature.

I do feel that they need to stop server transfers. I understant that WvW can’t be the driver of that decision, since they are leaving it open for PvE reasons as well from a server balance perspective. But I do think that will help by forcing servers to cooperate and force some stability within the PvP community on the server.

However, what potential negative impact would changing the orb bonus create? Currently, orb bonuses favor the victor. It rewards successful coordination of the server’s forces on the field of battle. It creates/enhances the attacker’s advantage. What happens if that bonus is removed? What if it introduces the prospect of servers taking objectives but unable to hold those objectives for any length of time? Imagine a battle where all the objectives are fluid and constantly changing because there is no realistic way to hold territory without some bonus to make that possible. Is that the goal? I’m just trying to demonstrate that “fixing” a feature could introduce something just as bad or worse.

I’m not saying that no changes are needed. But I hope Anet doesn’t go overboard and create something much worse.
