Basically, what I’m hung up on are what runes to focus on, and what sigils to use on my weapons. Here’s the build thus far…
Heavy healing through Death Shroud manipulation (popping in and out) as well as through draining life, as well as inflicting what conditions I can.
Input? Suggestions? Answers to runes and sigils?
Wanting to wrap up my Refugee Volunteer achievement for the title. What’s the best/fastest way to do so?

I wasn’t really asking for a levelling build, but a final build to end up in.
I’ll certainly take your advice for levelling into consideration though! Thank you!
See, I didn’t know what exactly Supply Crate did.
I just looked it up.
It would be a much more amazing option than the mortar for my build.
Thank you for the input! Glad to see I’m understanding a bit of the game’s mechanics to put a decent build together.
I am returning to GW2, getting really into Engineer. I played a Thief to 35 back at launch and stopped playing. I couldn’t take the pain.
I’ve been levelling my Engineer now, he’s level 20, and I’m really loving it.
I was looking for a little feedback on this build I devised?
Basic idea I had in mind….
1. Pistols are for single targets/PvE bosses.
2. Grenade Kit for AoE/Explosion bonuses.
3. Elixir B liberally.
On the Alchemy tier 1 trait thing, I was waffling between the Toughness->Condition or the elixir recharge rate.
Healing Turret could also be healing elixir instead.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
Thank you both for the swift responses. Sounds like I had a good idea on the equippable weapons.
I’ll certainly try out kits when I unlock more of them! I only have one skill slot open, and I have it set to my flame turret. Using dual pistols for now.
Since Engineers can’t weapon swap in combat (except for using kits), I was pondering a good weapon combo for PvE. The pros and cons I can see from the combos, as a novice player, seem to be…
Rifle – Good AoE at close range through Jump Shot/Blunderbuss, as well as good enemy control.
Pistol/Shield – Conditions and anti-range abilities.
Pistol/Pistol – Conditions and more conditions!
It seems like Pistol/Pistol would be best in PvE, for stacking Bleed/Poison/Burn.

I’m just now returning to the game, and trying out the Warrior profession. It’s pretty fun so far, so I’m thinking I’ll stick with it. I was trying to come up with a good, unique build on my own, and this is what I came up with:
Essentially, it takes the boost from stacking signets for regular crit damage, and adds condition damage for bleeds using Sword/Sword and Rifle sets.
Thoughts? Improvements?
Indeed that does help. I think what I’ll do is a combination of the two…
I’ll probably re-roll my Guardian and learn from the ground up again, and maybe reroll my Sylvari as an Elementalist and try that out too.
Well, I know that gameplay in GW2 is radically different from other MMO’s out there, so it may be hard to draw any parallels, but we’ll see if these former MMO experiences help with suggestions…
First MMO was Final Fantasy 11. I was strictly a White Mage (healer class). Never even knew combat. Stood back and healed.
Then came World of Warcraft. Elemental Shaman (tankier, slightly durable spellcaster). I love the spell-slinging archetype, but hate being a glass cannon. To this end, I’ve read that Necromancer may be a good choice.
I’m flexible in trying classes, I just want to get into one that will keep me hooked on this game. Trying to drop WoW to save the $15 a month, but I need something I can really sink my teeth in to.
Got a Thief up to level 30.
Interesting, but a bit more skill-based than I can handle at times. Keeping him since he’s not a low level and it would take me time to catch up on him.
What class would be a good way to get me back in to the game? Something fun, not too difficult to get a good grasp on.
These are the characters I have, which can be deleted (not too attached to them). I don’t remember how to play half of them, so if their class is suggested, I’d probably just delete and re-create.
Norn Guardian 18
Human Necromancer 5
Charr Engineer 5
Sylvari Ranger 5
Back at launch, I was told Guardians and Warriors were “easy mode”. I must have been playing the game wrong, because my Guardian used to get stomped pretty easily if I wasn’t careful.
