Log-in rewards

So I had a quick question, and the internet seems to want to be obtuse about it;

Are the login rewards account-based or character based? Right now I just have my Thief, but I want to make a an Elementalist and I was curious if I should just make them now so they start building up their own log-in rewards or if they apply account-wide (IE: If I log in on my Thief without thinking I lose my Tomes of EXP for my Elementalist that day).

RP Server - Tarnished Coast?

So I was asking around earlier today about what the RP server is for NA for GW2 and most people answered Tarnished Coast. Is this the general consensus across most servers? And is it actual RP (IE: Stories and characters etc.) or is it just trolls and furry ERP like what most people in General Chat mean when you ask them about RP?

Dual Professions

So, even though we just got the Elite Specializations I was thinking…maybe Arenanet -either later in this expansion or in the next expansion -could bring back a GW1 feature I really enjoyed;

Dual Professions.

Basically where you have your primary Profession (Thief, Warrior, Elementalist etc.) but you can also have a secondary Profession to go with it. For GW2’s new system, we could obviously make it so that it has its limits; like you’re still limited to your Primary Profession’s weapons and armor and their skills, but your Secondary Profession gives you access to some of that Profession’s skills and their Specialization trees.

So you could be T/ME, E/W, ENG/G etc. It fits Arenanet’s “Play your way” theme, brings back a pretty unique feature from GW1 and lets players have new options without having to do a crap ton of new work on coming up with new Elite Specializations all the time (some of which would invariably bleed into other Professions eventually).

Also because I want to be a Thief who drops clones everywhere and stabs things from multiple angles at once.

Are Specializations required?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Alright.

I was just worried it was going to wind up being “You must use the Elite Specializations because they totally outclass the base ones, even if they go against why you play that class.”

Are Specializations required?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

So while the Specializations for most classes look cool, I was curious not having seen much Beta footage myself and the Specialization videos themselves not being very clear; are Specializations going to be required to be competitive, or will base classes still be powerful enough to compete and be viable?

Like, for example, the Thief and Daredevil. I made a Thief to be stealthy and stab people in the back, not flip around and wap people with a pole and essentially be a Monk. Will I be made to be a Daredevil, or will staying a Thief still be viable? Or the same for say, Rangers and Druids?

World Style

So I’m kind of curious; are the various Worlds in GW2 known for being better/dedicated to certain things? Have they self-sorted into various specializations (IE: PvP, PvE, RP etc.) or are they all kind of a general clump with no specifics? They’re no labelled like servers in say, WoW or TERA, so I was wondering if players had done it themselves or if that kind of distinction never came out.

To Level my Thief or Elementalist first?

Have you tried d/d Ele? Because that’s pretty much what you described.

Also, GW2 isn’t even 3 years out yet.

Playing as Elementalist without a Staff or Wand/Off-Hand just feels wrong.

To Level my Thief or Elementalist first?

So having finally broken free of the grip of WoW and been turned off by ESO, I’m finally sitting down to enjoy and play GW2…..3 years after I got the game. Especially odd, considering I loved the first GW.

What I’m deciding though is what to finish leveling first; my Thief or my Elementalist. Since I haven’t figured out a way to stab people while firing bolts of lightning everywhere yet, and I think I’ll only have the time to get one done before Heart of Thorns comes out.

Troubling Getting Into GW2?

So I finally got GW2 working again (some weird start-up crash) but I was wondering; what would be a decent High Pop. server for the Americas? Preferably one that is close to EST timezone to keep time sort of accurate? (Rather not have it be night time when I’m playing during my day off for instance)

I finally got it to work. I did a full re-install, updated my video drivers to the newest AMD set (it came out on 4/21/2014) and did chkdsk /r.

I’ll update this if it starts crashing again.

So I wanted to try playing some GW 2 again after a while, but I ran into a problem. Whenever I try to start the game I get this error:

—> Crash <—

I’ve done a full uninstall and re-install and it still persists. Any help?

Troubling Getting Into GW2?

Okay, so I have to admit I’m getting a little burned out on WoW. The no real new content since SoO launched and having to wait until Fall/Winter 2014 for WoD is finally getting to me. While I’m not going to quit in the near future – my guild is trying to do “Ahead of the Curve: Siege of Orgimmar” and we’re on Garrosh, so bailing on them now would be a Grade-A kitten move which I’m not going to do; especially since I’m their Tank and those are hella hard to replace.

But I’ve been looking at other MMOs to play, and GW2 was, frankly, at the top of that list. I played the hell out of GW1 – in fact I played it INSTEAD of WoW. I loved my Ele/Me and played the hell out of it; though I was never able to finish the original campaign because I was too late to the party and wasn’t good enough to solo it.

But for some reason something about GW2 isn’t grabbing me; I think it might be me and not the game. Last time I played was during the Queen’s Revel event; it was okay but I felt maybe I was missing out a bit because there was no one around and I was such a low level.

Maybe its because I made a Mesmer; but I was worried about trying another class since I already redeemed my Legacy Stuff, and I remember that post about how they weren’t saving names and the reserve stuff from playing GW1 anymore.

I just felt kind of disconnected from everything too. And the community seemed more like just people who were there, rather than interacting or doing anything.

The end-game seems a little unclear too; from what I’ve seen in the trailers and releases, it looks mostly like Zerging World Bosses, rather than anything structured.

I really WANT to like Gw2 because of how good GW1 was to me, but I’m just having trouble finding it right now. Am I missing something?
