Yes it does take a utility slot but you shouldnt forget you can carry more then the usual two sets to balance that. (i think thats how its ment to be balanced cough) So you can have your rifle to do dmg, your toolkit for melee, the flamethrower for awesomeness and the elixir gun for support. Add the elite ability and then count the amount of abilitys you can use all in all. Its way more then each other class (besides maybe the elementalist)
I can’t seem to get it to draw enemies to me either.
Well dont forget it has a limited range. If the enemy isnt close enough to you, you will move backwards without pulling him along. Only if hes in like 400-600 (dont know the exact amount but if sure feels small) range to him hell be pulled. Try to get closer next time im sure itll work.
I think Engis should have backpacks that affect the kits. Like youd have backpacks with boni to power or condition dmg and youd be able to put in sigils and/or runes (preferably both ofc) thatd be used on all of your kits.
I use it to pull enemies in wvw into the 5th ability, the net. Some players try to swim around it and that way i can force them into the immo.
The Engineer has 2 and a half melee options i think. First is the toolkit (with a repair ability similar to what you said i think), second are the bombs though they are kinda weird to use at first and the half option is the flamethrower since it has a small range.
Yes maybe i shouldve add that im not that high yet since i only recently started to play the engineer.
Im using the same turrets you do, mainly because the other four turrets (flame, rifle, net and thumper) seem to have no use at all. The Net turret maybe somewhat convenient to immobilize someone but since pistols can do that too i dont really need that one.
I think the flamethrower is somewhat weak. I mean i like using my pistols, they have blind like the flamethrower (+ some neat dmg thanks to confusion) have auto-attack enabled without me having to do that manually and the flame attack (blowtorch) is doing SO much more dmg then every attack on the flamethrower. Additionally i have immobilization which is imo better then the knockback.
The only “pro” on the flamethrower is that its main attack hits everyone in front of you so its somewhat easier to fight multiple enemies (altough ofc, you can do the same quite easily with pistols cough)
