Next Race: Skritt or Quaggan

viable race canidates…

Koda, Tengu, Largos

From what I’ve heard, either Koda or Tengu (i forget which) already have animations made and were intended to be in the vanilla game but didn’t make it. So Tengu and Koda will most likely be the first new playable race.

Obviously quaggans or skritt being playable is a joke so, I’d pick quaggan for the troll factor.

Even worse is that the pick is account bound. Thus, not only does it give more loot, but its more alt friendly than older picks. Thanks for making me loose gem store trust in you Anet.

Wanna fix it? make older picks mine their own resources or at LEAST make them account bound. That way I can give my old tools to alts and have my main use the best ones.

Server Match up is terrible

I seriously question Anet’s logic behind the match-ups right now. I’m not the kind to EVER rage or rant on these forums but this is a serious wtf moment. Our match-ups were PERFECT last time (I’m on devona). Yea, we faced mainly the same people over and over, but thats because they were the only server on equal footing! Previous either we steam rolled people or we’d get steam rolled. now were back to square one. YAY! WAY TO PROGRESS ANET!Anet acts like there wasn’t already an outcry back when the game release. Why not bring back culling while your at it anet?

I run an Asura Engineer and I’m having some minor troubles picking a look.

I’m working on the legendary Quip for the ‘Eccentric’ feel and I plan on getting the Mad Moon Shield to go with it. Problem is, i can’t really find armor to match with the feel.

Any suggestions?

what do you all think of the resonator?

Also I have a suggestion I’m iffy about because it could be really bad or really good.

A resonator that reveals nearby invisible enemies. This would make the engineer just as important as a portaling mesmer in wvw. It could also counter almost always invis thieves. I personally think it should be done in some way because invis has no real counter. AoEs just aren’t that reliable with eh exception of shadow refuge.

At the same time, i don’t want to ruin invis entirely.

The balance to this would be the fact the engineer would be in the resonator kit with only one auto attack. basically, not nearly as combat effective if he wasn’t in this kit. So it has drawbacks.

The New Weapons for Engineer (And others)

Passafist.2035

I’d like to say, this idea would likely be something for an expansion. This suggestion consists of 2 weapons, 1 weapon change, and 1 new kit. I can only generalize these weapons because if they were implemented, it would be up to anet of what the specific skills do.

Blunderbuss
You may be thinking, “But we already have the rifle that acts like a blunderbuss.” You would be right, but why not move the current rifle skills into a new ‘Blunderbuss’ weapon to give room so the engineer can have a viable 1200 ranged weapon other than grenades? After all, even if you trait for 1200 range on the elixir gun and rifle (rifled barrels) only the auto attack is reliable. Your lucky if your #2 hits on either of those weapons at 1000-1200 range.

It would also allow Anet an excuse to finally give engineers a legendary that is fitting. The Predator doesn’t fit the engineer rifle skills at all. If this was done Anet could work on doing that and adding a new Blunderbuss Legendary!

Also, maybe give this weapons to thieves (for the pirate feel) and warriors.
——-

Rifle
Not much to say, change the rifle skills so they actually fit a rifle. The main goal here as I said above is to give the engineer a viable 1200 range weapon without needing traits or use the cookie cutter grenade kit.
——-

Crossbow
I know what your thinking, “Crossbow on an engineer? That makes no sense.” Let me first give a suggestion for the crossbow itself before I tell you how the engineer could utilize it.

Instead of Anet making the crossbow a simple one handed or two handed weapon only, why not let it be both? If you slot it by itself, it’ll be considered a two-handed weapon. If you slot a Crossbow in your main hand, and a shield off hand, the crossbow skills will be replaced with the shield skills. Same goes if you main hand a pistol and off hand a crossbow.

When i think of an engineer with a crossbow I think of the multitude of games nowadays with crossbows and special bolts (Dishonored, Bioshock, etc). The Crossbow could also be a choice if Anet doesn’t want to move the current rifle skills to a new blunderbuss. It would serve as a 1200 ranged weapon without the need of traits with more than 2 skills that will actually hit at 1200 range.

Pistols are mostly condition based and rifles tend to be power based. So why not make the cross bow for both like kits? Out of personal experience, I find the engineer the most effective class at using hybrid builds.

Also give the crossbow to rangers, thieves, and maybe warriors.
——-

Resonator kit
When it comes to being a support class for my engineer, I find tossing elixirs to not really do much. Thus, most I can do for support is a healing build. Why not make a kit that creates some kind of AoE that gives a permanent boon to all within the aoe?

Of course, the resonators could be destroyed by other players. It would be best to make them a bit less squishy than turrets. To balance it even more, have it so you can only place one resonator at a time, or make it so that placing two resonators where their AoEs touch will explode. This would open a whole new branch of builds for the engineer, or maybe simply improve current builds.

And if they do somehow become overpowered, make them equally as squishy as turrets but minus all the limitations I just said. It would also count as a unarmed kit since it likely will have no auto attacks.

A different idea would be to make it so the resonating only works when the kit is equipped. Instead of placing ‘resonators’ you would be the resonator. You will have an okay auto attack but your 2-5 skills would just allow you to switch between resonators. up to 5 allies near you get a permanent boon as long as your in this kit and alive. This would allow the kit to give large boons but not be as OP since one player would be pretty much out of the fight while using it.

This kit could also somewhat counter null field due to the fact that even if the boons are stripped away the resonator will just apply them again.

You can only have ONE resonator set at a time. This are just my ideas but obvious some may be OP or UP in practice. Remember, this is only theory. Also keep in mind, these boons go away as soon as the engineer changes from this kit or changes the resonator. There will also be a cool down whenever the engineer changes as well. Keep in mind the seconds depend on what would be most balanced.

defensive
Gives protection as long as allies are within your AoE. Also give stability and retaliation for 2-5 seconds every 10-30 seconds

healing
Gives regeneration and slowly cures conditions of all allies within your AoE. The condition cure happens every 10 seconds.

Offensive
Gives 1-5 stacks of might and fury to all allies within your aoe. The might stacks increase slowly.

Speedy
Gives swiftness and Vigor to all allies within your AoE

Forming a Small Guild of 8! With a Little Game...

Since your a char that already takes out the needed races. Last two slots are any race. Though I can agree I went a bit far with that part. As for the class thing, this small guild is to function as an 8 man team. when we get these 8 people we will do our thing then recruit more. The next group will only have to have a different profession and the rest can be the same. The point is for each section to be adaptive.

Though I have no problem with getting a head start. if all the solo play go ahead we can help the other players once they start. Well talk ingame.

I was thinking something more military-like in name. Though I still want the Guild to have a good balance of organization, and silliness. Its hard to find people with a good balance of those.

I thought Myst Rangers because well, what I’m planning on us doing is kinda like the US Army Rangers. Quick Shock troops that adapt to the battlefield.

should this work out, my plans for the future are to steadily increase our number. No, not by sending random Invites to people. Otherwise we’ll end up like the million+ guilds who have a ton of members but hardly any really do anything. A majority of people think a good guild is the one with the most players.

Even then, I wouldn’t want to increase our numbers until We are level 30 and faring well in WvW. for now I plan for us to go through a few stages.

1) Gather the 8 members <——Obviously, we’re here.

2) Exploring maps and leveling up enough to regroup.

3) Gather as much map completion possible before we hit level 30

4) At level 30 we’ll do a check on gear and see if we can improve it. (This will also happen before hand as well, this will just be the big one).

5) We test out our group in WvW

6) Review results and decide If we should get rid of players should they be uncooperative. If the group seems to be functioning well, we will recruit another 8 members to serve as a Beta Squad and repeat with them. If this group does not function well, we will go through training.

7) Repeat. Add/remove members as needed.

NOTICE: Post under construction

Introduction
Alright Recruit, let me give you a run down on how things are done in the MR. You will be part of a small task force with the objective of sabotage, raids, and reinforcing our front lines when needed. This objective will evolve as we get more FNGs, but for now, thinking small will do.

In case you have not noticed, I’m talking about World Versus World. Our operating hours are 10am-4pm and 9pm-12am Eastern US time on week days. Weekends tend become unpredictable, but there is a high chance someone will be active then. Our base of operations is located in Eredon Terrace. If you cannot participate during any of these hours, don’t bother signing up.

A minimal once a week you’ll be active. If you are MIA for a week you will be notified of potential discharge and given another two weeks to reply. Failure to comply to the message sent will result in a less-than-honorable discharge. Should something come up or if life pulls a fast one on you, let our Guild Master know to avoid this.

As far as discipline is concerned we would be best describe as somewhere in the middle. We’re not going to go drill sergeant on you so long as you follow our rules and take the required basic training. Advanced training can give you more know-how and is not mandatory. However, we still have some kinks to work out. We’ll notify you as soon as advance training becomes available.

Although I did mention we’re primarily a WvW group, we do more than WvW. We may do dungeons, Craft items for one another, and more. Think of PvE as shore leave.

Initiation
All accepted players will start off as a Recruit. At this rank you are not officially part of the guild yet. After you’ve passed Boot Camp you will be promoted to Private.

In Boot Camp a Drill Sergeant will instruct you. You will have at least one player with you. They may also be a recruit, or they may be an experienced member filling up empty slots.

Here are some tips for Boot Camp.

1) Once your submission is accepted you will be notified. Once you are online at the same time your assigned Drill Sergeant is, you will start Boot Camp. Avoiding Boot Camp will result in termination of your submission. You can apply again, but you only get two more chances. Plus, your Drill Sergeant WILL get on you for that. should you have to log off, be sure to notify your Drill Sergeant. You can continue Boot Camp next time you are both on.

2) Boot Camp may seem harsh, but that doesn’t mean our Guild is hardcore. We don’t play to win, we play to have fun in a video game. It’s just that this kind of fun is military-like. Doesn’t mean we don’t goof off every so often or do fun events other than WvW. Think of anything not in WvW as shore leave.

3) Just because you may be level 80 with the best gear in the game doesn’t mean we’ll go soft on you. Boot Camp is used to weed out those who will hinder us in the long run. It’s not perfect, but it gets the job done. Everyone is treated equally as far as qualification is concerned. The same may not be true for your Drill Sergeant treats you however…

4) EVERYTHING you learn in boot camp will be used on the field. Don’t just go through thinking you can forget it later on. You may get called out on it and reviewed by your superiors. Even worse, you may have to go through Boot Camp all over again.

5) There’s only one rule to pass Boot Camp. Do as your Drill Sergeant says. Failure to comply will disqualify you.

Boot Camp Courses:

Obedience Training
All you have to do is what your Drill Sergeant says. Your Drill Sergeant will go over how your Training will be done and probably make you do ridiculous things. Just do as Sarge says.

Formation Training
Here, you will be accompanied with other players. They may be recruits like you, or already experienced members called in to fill spots. You will be taught different movement formations and their effectiveness on the field. You and your group will follow the Drill Sergeant around a certain area in whatever formation he/she calls out. Keep in formation and you will pass. (Due to the Guild just starting up, I may need to gather players outside the Guild to participate. If we cannot obtain enough players to complete this training you will skip it and come back to it later.)

Scouting
This is the first course where you will actually enter WvW. However, you are not here for combat. You will be tasked to go to an enemy base, spot enemies, upgrades, and any siege weapons that you can see. You must also get back to your Drill Sergeant ALIVE! You may NOT use any waypoints. If you die, you will be assigned a different target. Once you return, you will travel with your Drill Sergeant to the target location to confirm your findings.
