yeah, i honestly got no clue what anet was thinking when designing this specific trophy. i get the idea behind it, but its almsot as if they never actually saw any shatterer kills done since mega servers.

the mechanic it self doesnt work enough well with the current mega server stuff to be even closely reliable to be worth of a trophy, let alone such important one as precursor considering how populated the vent is, even if you try to find an empty’ish map :I

i somehow managed to get it by standing between its legs, not under the stomache but under its jaw area 3 in the morning..6 in the morning might be easier 1 to get with less people.

first time i saw the crystals in my semi active playing since mega servers.

so i’ve worked on the precursor the legend for a while and im stuck in same situation as alot of others are atm, and have been far before me. trophy called “experiencing the crystal”

in short for this trophy, you have to be turned into a crystal, by the shatterer.

it doesnt sound too diffucult in words, but the way the boss is now its near impossible.

the boss can be blinded for some odd reason constantly, he only casts it to 5 people a time, with blind who knows how many, only to 4 the least -if- he gets to cast.

im not sure if this part is true but i’ve been told that the crystal cast it self can even be interrupted.

now you got about 50-80 people on the event, add pets that makes it easily to 70-100. now add all those mesmer phantasm’s to it wich makes it easily 90-120 targets,per event.

this makes the chance for you to be turned into crystal, assuming he doesnt get interrupted if thats possible, assuming blind only prevents the first target of the skill and not all 5, roughly 3.3% – 4% every 3 hours.

im sure everyone would be far more happy to even grind some 1% drop from monsters, than be stuck in such a rng fight that even occurs so rarelly.

like maybe add trophy drop to the branded creatures, some crystal that has rare drop chance to get that we could atleast try to farm and make it like the rest parts have been about effort, and not about insane luck.

i dont mean to make it easier than it is, i just want it to be “more fair” to get done. not some rng fest every few hours :I

wearing armor makes me lose crit %

yeah like i edited, its maintenance oil. so x% of toughness and vitality into precission.

so without armor on that slot, i gain that vitality the armor has that adds 3 to precission, but it loses that~ 0.2-0.3% on crit chance. sure its marginal but it still doesnt really make sense to lose crit :s

without the oil its all fine, so i assume the bug is somewhere in the buff item it self thats causing it, or in the 3 precission i gain that somehow lowers it instead of increases.

so im not sure if there is some bug going on here, or whats causing it. on my necromancer right now with 2 bufffs up, vitality and x% precission from vitality and toughness.

when my necro doesnt have anything worn on her chest slot, i got 32.9% critical hit chance. when i wear armor that adds power, vitality and ferocity, i go to 32.23% chance.

screenshots below, now sure if the buffs them self are messing it up, or whats causing it, but i dont think its intented if you wear something over nothing, that your stats goes lower :P

gonna add update soon after the buff runs out , incase those affected the stat changing

update: buff wore off and im now on 26.23% crit wich stays the same even if i take the armor off. BUT if i take the buff item (quality maintenance oil, 5% of toughness and 3% of vitality into precission) i get the same bug again.

with armor that has vitality, im at 32.23%, with -NOTHING- on the armor slot i got 32.9% so its clearly not something thats intented

my build is basicly made for wvw but it works all around if you just change skill or 2 around to be more for the damage than utility :P

basicly highly survivable shroud based necromancer with wells. i dont feel wells needs more than the mere ground targeting to make them really good in group fights, and even that just to be able to position your self way better during fights witohut needing to be too close to them all the time.

with all bloodlusts up and 5 stacks on guard killer buff my well of power starts to tick on 4k+ unmitigated damage (ofcourse defenses on enemies mitigates it quite abit) wich crits for 8k unmitigated with 85% chance for the crits while in shroud, and basicly im able to be nearly all the time in shroud unless iget several people focusing on me.

and ive heard several necromancers complain to me of why i take spectral armor, how its waste in wvw etc but in my opinion its just amazing skill cause of its flexible use.

able to break stun or fear (even if tooltip mentions mere stun), reduced damage taken for 6 seconds wich if used for stun break usually mitigates their burst they oftenly throws after “you cant evade it”, alot of life force regenned during its duration. you can use it as stun breaker, you can use if when enemy uses some fast hitting skill like warriors spin to replenish good chunk of life force back up (19382 lf pool so 1.5k roughly each hit taken replenished).

basicly as long as you position your self well you can survive alot of damage from enemy group cause your able to replenish your shroud on so fast pace that when ever you can pop it up again your almost always above 50-75% life force pool if not on 100%, and each time shroud ends your heal is off cd waiting to be used if/when needed :P

and i took the flameblast runes for crit procs cause its power based, isee loads of necros run with the agony proc even as powers wich is just waste of time, when it hits about 30-35 a tick when not moving. it just makes no real difference really cause power bases scales it so badly opposed to hybrids/condimancers

also your heal and dagger 4 are amazing condition management tools to use along with staff 4 so conditions are rarelly issue. you could optionally use axe/dagger over d/d but personally even in big fights i feel d/d is better for the ability to root person, drain life and get fast life force from random nearby enemy, even when axe’s aoe for retaliation+plague combo is pretty dam effective also.

to be honest the open poster makes it sound like he never actually tried necromancer properly :I

in wvw necromancers are amazing be it condition or power, both has their own places they excels at. proper power necro can really melt people in groups when played properly especially with wells added to the mix.

sadly havent done spvp for ages so cant say anything of that.

pve wise who cares? the dungeons are so easy anyway and the groups who wants only “speedruns” are usually the elitists you wouldnt want to be with anyway, games are made to have fun instead of make them feel like its a dam work :P

edit: oh and plague in wvw, that alone pretty much makes necros amazing in mass team fights :P

so basicly pure condition with toughness for defense with few vitality items.

what im wondering is: should i use oncrit: life steal on both main weps and on crit: bleed enemy on offhand? or is there some better choise for these weapon runes for condimancer.

and if its good to stick tothese crit proc ones, what would be apropriate crit % to aim for then? as im atm 39%, but thinking to drop down to 25-30% in order to gain few k more health in the item swaps to toughness-vit-condi dmg items

edit: and im mainly aiming to be able to be effective against 1-3 enemies in fight, not against massive blop only :P to keep that in mind. so solo – few man roam aimed.

so i’ve had this bug for while, i first thought it was just some weird lag onthe servers side on those map servers ,but it cant be mere coincidence now.

everytime i try to connect to any major town exept la (hoelbrak, divinity’s reach etc) i either lag so hard that i cant do anything and the chat in there doesnt react at all to my messages BUT guild and party chat works perfectly.

after a while it errors me out that “the game clien lost its connection to the server” and forces me to relog to get out of the area, and even if i do get in my character is “frozen” on spot. i can moveand all thatbut the game client it self doesnt read it as i got so massive lag that it doesnt do a thing, untill it force dc’ed me and then updated me to my new location i was standing in.

anyone else having these issues? as its happening to me ONLY in these main town areas. its all fine everywhere else exept these 2 (connecting from finland)

mhm out of those 3 the rabid really seems like the most fitting, as when i was testing with vit i didnt feel it gave enough hp to feel comfortable taking it over other stat as wellomancer. as taking crit over it would proc more heals and those heals would mitigate more than stacking hp.

and i assume something like 6/6 melandru’s as runes would work as well for this? or should i go for something more offensive?

and thats kinda the plan for me, want to start smaller scale roams too on more quiet hours rather htan just the massive scale wvw where wellomancer really did shine :> cause wellomancer felt pretty useless and weak in few vs few fights or 1v1 encounters

what sort of stats in your gear you use then for that build?

i’ve played my necro always as more of the backline defensive/support wellomancer but that got boring pretty fast, and now planning to try something wich actually would let me kill enemies more efficiently than wellomancing, not just serve the kills on a silver plate for others ;P

have you checked the heat ammounts the pc creates while you play? sometimes if pc overheats it can cause it to restart without warning or even shut down.

i had this issue with my videocard overheating before but after the patch i have had issues with overly long load times (august 6th patch) that some reason it takes double the time to load into maps, and just few mins ago whole pc chose to shut down (could be heat related but doubt it as my coolings are fine)

having same issue also..i was able to do this yesterday , infact did it several times, but after the last nights patch i’ve been unable to delete a single character :S

mhm, its just like always, first you dont know why its broken, and then you dont know why it works :P i guess its something that on non usb ones it keeps forcing it to surround for some reason wich sadly doesnt work so well, as it makes it work as if it was surround of 2 stereos with 1 on far each side (far left far right) instead of front each side, wich again messes the sounds totally :S

yes, it is realtek infact, and its stereo, not usb. i did try other headset to it and it worked just fine (usb headset) yet when changing back to my creative headset, the issue started again, or rather, i dont think it ever disappeared the issue but it didnt affect the other headset.

and ive set the headset from realtek options to keep it on stereo, not on surround. not sure if there is anything else i can do or need to do, to block surround occurring trough it >_>

So i thought this was just some form of lag issue before related to my old pc, but afteri got my new pc i noticed, that i got similar issue.

oftenly, my sounds starts to behave like it was “surround” sound, or as if my character wouldnt update the location its looking to server.

i can clearly hear people far away if i look elsewhere, but if i look towards them i cant hear a dam word even if i were right next to them.

and this persists even to storyline conversations, where you get the screen with chat going on with the npc while they talks. i cant hear a single word they speaks when this occurs. also i cant hear any other sound regarding the direction i look at properly when this happens, including attacks and such, but music does play properly wich kinda makes me think that it might be related to some sort of “surround” sound issue, even when i should have surround turned off.

oftenly it works just fine, and sometimes it just changes to this, and it can last on worst for hour, if not longer. or untill i restart the game. and if i dont restart the game after about an hour of playing it would go back to normal till it occurs again :S

so anyidea what could cause this? or how could i fix this? and anyone else having this issue incase its headset related issue? (using creative fatality headset atm)

How Does Damage Work?

well im not 100% sure so this is mostly how ive felt it to work overall.

there is 3 values for damage, damage, power, and condition damage.

id assume that damage it self, is the solid modifier for weapon damage, how much your weapon does on skills, just like in any game. then its up to wich you choose to focus on, power (solid damage) or condition damage (damage over time effects) that increases the said type of damage in the end.

wich would make something like:

weapon damage + modifiers (power, condition dmg) = damage – enemys armor and toughness = ammount hit for.

now i dont know real values, but to put that in numbers to make it more simple. it could look like this:

132+122=254-54-50= hit of 150

and as we dont know how much 1 power, or 1 condition damage, or 1 weapon damage increases it, or how much toughness ,or 1 armor reduces it, we cant really tlel exact numbers, but that should give good idea atleast ^^

and thats excluding the boons you both might havegoing on

id suggest you to try crafting also along with levelling. crafting can be major exp contributor towards levelling, along with all the events and such you get to do along with harvesting materials.

each time you get skill level for profession, your char gains some exp too, wich easily piles up if you got leftover materials to use wich makes levelling alot easier.

also try to explore, to get maps 100% cleared, and do other areas of same level my self i was bit behind around 28, and my mission was for 31 storyline wise, after doing other area abit, some events and alot of cooking, without even doing next area to 100% i was at lvl 33 and having easy time starting the new zone

i dont see why anything would have caps…especially magic find…

and just to clear it out abit how magic find works.

it stacks just like any other stat, not sure if there is cap or not. but its not -solid increase to the % it self". so if you got 50% magic find, and item has 2% drop, it does not mean its 52% drop, it means it increases this 2% chance, by 50%, thus making it 3% drop.

so your 100% drop would basicly mean double drop rate in this case

just ask in the general channels ^^ youd be surprised how friendly people in here can be! no matter where you go there is people helping others and being all chatty in the channels it doesnt feel like solo game even if you play alone, cause there is so many people to talk with and do things with since you dotn need to form individual party for each event, as everyone works together in it automaticly =)

far as ive looked it doesnt in my opinion atleast. power adds damage of direct damage spells, and skills. while condition adds to damage over time.

question on other hand is, does weapon damage it self, increase condition damage? or just power? and you can test that easily by eguiping mere power weapon in your weapon slot, and see how it changes your conditional damage atribute with it :>

or he managed to heal up with bandage before you got to him and warp out, thats possibility too. ofcourse depending how long it took to get to him, or like someone suggested, thief invisibilityed him and they both ported off after he ressed? or mesmer popped illusion of life (for 15sec your alive again, then your “downed” again unless you killed something during it) though in that case i dont see why they didnt gank you if it was 2 of them

jayne not quite. sure, every mmo has same “wont notify if you add a friend” function. but none of them shares as much info, such as your account “nick”, that with the numbers that you got on forums (like mine is pazernus9273) and none of them, gives your alts names (exept realid from wow far as i know).

and its in the information of sharing alts names and showing when your online with your alts too, where the problem lies.

yes night, but like i said before. you can block person from follower list, -BUT- it wont stop them from seeing you. they can still see where you are, on what char you are, and send you mails (mails i assume might be just bug). if blocking person prevents them seeing any info of you, it would be perfect system them. (meaning cant see alts names, locations, and see’s you as offline constantly, or gets you force removed of their friendlist, and prevents them re adding you)

so, ive had this slight, annoying thing recently, related to friendlist that ive experienced in gw2.

in short, in friendlist, you can add anyone you feel like adding, and you can see their name, their location, achi points, even other characters they logs in with. and they can do this all without you knowing a thing about it, basicly getting access to alot of information regarding your account or characters, even when you wouldnt want them to get this information, such as going for alt to get some peace of mind, yet every friend would see you being on that very alt, and start whispering you even if you put invisible mode on.

and im pondering, is there any form of change planned for this friendlist system? like, you need to accept the other as friend perhaps before they can see your alt names, or that you could control how much info you let others see? or make blocks even mail wide?

cause its bit fustrating when someone starts to annoy you for some reason, you leave the zone and they follows you, you block them and you might get mails of em, or log to alt and they can see you on that very alt and come there too. basicly, making “player stalking” awfully easy in this game. cause you can just add person to the friendlist, and then remove them, while seeing their account name, character name they are on, and location sametime. and only way they could see that, is by checking “followers” list, from where you cant remove players either, unless you block, and even then they can see you online if they had you on the list. like with friend i tested it out.

he could see me online, yet couldnt whisper me, and could see where i was on with what char, even when i had blocked him.

as in my opinion, its good to have such way to communicate with friends, but it can too easily be used wrongly, or people you want to avoid for reason, or other, could easily see where your going or what named chars your playing.

how on earth you waste full gold O___O DISCOVERY! USE DISCOVERY! >_<

ive wasted on most 60-80s my self for my weaponsmithing, and its 178 or something now.

cooking, is the moneysink with gain, or was, now they changed it and i feel lucky that i levelled it and stocked up while there still was vendor sold stuff :>

discovery in short: main part+mainpart+stat modifier = discovery.

such as, sword blade + sword handle + power modifier item (crafted by profession from the rare drop mats) =strong materialtype sword. such as strong iron sword.

and this goes up in tiers.

start ones with 3 rare ingredients for stat modifier > blue rarity.
next ones with 3 rare ingredients for stat modifier > 5 levels higher blue rarity
final ones with 8 rare ingredients for stat modifiers > 10 levels higher masterwork
start ones with 3 rare ingredients for stat modifir > 15 levels higher blue rarity.

so on so on, so each time you get new ones, it increases last ones items level by 5, and every time you use 8 one, you get masterwork wich doesnt haveu pgrade slot.

and i recall that normal discovery was 4 times the exp, and masterwork was 6 times the exp as discovery than as crafting, so its -really- worth it, as oftenly discovery gives 0.6-1.8 levels. so best way to level: get as many different rare drop mats as you can, make 1 of each type modifier you can per weapon ort item you can craft, and discover. dont craft, discover. its worth ALOT more and saves alot of materials in the long run

A word of advice: Don't buy keys.

mhm, few good tokens are the karma one, and killstreak one killstreak is 100% exp bonus for 30sec, timer resets after each kill.

well the root of this issue is that all tradeposts are linked between -every- server so instead of individual tp’s we got 1 major tp.

that causes huge overflow of items, and then we got this nifty "auto match price " button,, so you wont even need to see effort to selling items.

my self ive moved on, to either vendor items, or directly sell to buyers if thre is reasonable buy order. such as iron, if it sells for mere 1c above vendor price, i just vendor it for the same reason op brought out, its more profit!

especially armors are nearly always auto vendor or salvage, cause they tends to sell for so litle, cause so many people has them as drops, yet so few buying them :I but atleast its easier to find items you need, even the most rarest ones,like for now it seems dyes are the -money hauls- outside of exotic armors

A word of advice: Don't buy keys.

stating to “prepare this to be deleted” is in all honestly, childish, and idiotic.

and not sure of your server, but ask anyone in piken square and they tells exact same, that they are not worth buying. wont need forum post to figure this out, its been figured out for weeks now.

its good that chests arent gamebreakingly rewarding so your not forced to buy keys.
its good idea to have such chest in game that needs gems or irl money to open it.

bad side: those 2 wont walk hand in hand, why to buy something wich simply isnt worth it? wont need to be game breakingly rewarding, but atleast more rewarding than the key it self. perhaps add small chance to gain mini pet? wouldnt be direct money but still worth it regardless of pets prices being 300 per 3. but removing the tonics, or making them vendorable, would be nice first step to help alot of people get more bank space :P

Decoy (gain stealth and summon a clone to attack your foe)

should work since decoy -stealths- you, so making you invisible and this way reseting target by all manner of common sense, and you could chain that with stuff like mirror images for mass of clones

How hot can a gfx-card get w/o burning?

i used to have video card that had malfunctioning fan in it that worked when ever it felt like (was about 3-5 years old when it started to slowly stop working, and after a while tha fan died completelly) and i was always around 60-70c without issue, close to 100c you -should- be worried on why its this hot and do something about it, around 80 or below is ideal in my opinion.

and how much they can last? well 1 night my outside computer fan i had for the computed had turned off during me sleeping, causing my videocard to apparently die of overheating, last recorded peak heat was 122c, but i recall the w/e soldering, to attach the electrical chips to it starts to melt off around 110-115c
