The Noble Count Outfit and The Shining Blade glider/backpack combo would be greatly appreciated if they could return.

I just managed to spend 119 gold on the tier 3 human armor because i misread an achievement and thought it would grant me “The Emperor” title. I was wrong and 119 gold poorer when i found out i was wrong…

How about allowing us to set the sheathe weapons time ourselves?

Going from 1 – 60 seconds and a separate unlimited option would be ideal imo

Wrong voiceline Sylvari male Revenant.

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Penguin.1345

With the voicelines for the revenant class the sylvari has the wrong one playing for Shiro.

The text says:

Shiro: What has become of the empire in my absence?
Lochwyn: They say Cantha expelled all nonhumans and closed it borders long ago. After orr rose, it was isolated further.

However, the last phrase from my char, lochwyn, is incorrectly voiced as he says “It most certainly has”, something not fitting the conversation.

Things You Love About GW2

The sound design. For some reason i just find the sound design of GW2 to be really immersive with constant ambience and non-over-the-top music playing all the time. Creature sounds really help make them seem menacing and annoying (looking at you chak)

Edit:
What i really mean is that going back to other MMOs i just begin to notice missing sounds be it creature grunts, footsteps and similar. Everything in GW2 just sounds “right”

Some high germanic gothic armor would suit the game nicely, perhaps not as individual pieces but as an outfit. This is what i thought when i heard outfits were one piece for the whole body.

Please fix day and night

One reason ton ot have darker nights are the character models themselves. In pitch black areas the skin glows, or at least isnt affected by the dark.

First picture taken in story instance in Fields of ruin the latter in the pirate maze in LA

If they fixed this and made skin affected by lighting i would love me some darker nights. At first i had to google if there even was a day/night cycle to begin with. The short cycle is lovely and allows me to see both day and night scenery within reasonable time. Also having an actual sun/moon movement would be lovely as well. Maybe even going as far as having the shadows come from the sun.

This is the only time lapse ive been able to find with the moon in it. As can be seen the moon pops up, stays in the same place for a while then goes down. Perhaps actual rotation could be added? Or maybe the world of tyria has a really weird moon-orbit making it appear as if… nah i think they just hastily added one.

For some reason i’ve found that the anti aliasing isnt applied to preview windows. This is the unfortunate consequense of this, armor looks pixelated.

One thing i really enjoyed which ive noticed lacked in the living story season2 (Ive just completed it, doing story chronologically) was my character speaking. I liked my human males voice and personality. I know there’s a few boxes i have to press to imitate the “speaking” but its just not the same.

[Suggestion]Fishing

Penguin.1345

FFXIV’s fishing system is somethng i very much enjoyed. There is no nodes, schools etc. Any body of water is fishable (and clouds and deserts cause… reasons) The system itself is veryt simple although requires some grind to optimise. In gw2 i can easily see us just skipping that grind and going straight to the satisfying part. It is not difficult in any way but it feels good to reel in a big fish.

The way it works is you have 4 buttons for fishing.

A cast line skill.
A reel in skill.
A powerful hookset (for big and rare fish)
A precise hookset ( for small and fickle fish)

These four are used in order: Cast line, then wait for a sound. Depending on that sound you can ddetermine the size and strength of the fish. Then use appropriate hooksets to get it on land.

But since gw2 does not share FFXIVs job system i propose we add a fishing pole as equippable weapon. This would make finding a sequre fishing spot a part ofthe challenge. Equipping it would change the skills on the hotbar to similar fishing related skills. Perhaps even add a “Build” system allowing us to optimize skills and passives to catch bigger and more specified fish.

Fishing should not be a frustrating activity. I use it as a way to wind down and relax, listen to the zones ambience and music and just enjoy the scenery. The fish themselves could perhaps be skinned for scales, cooked, etc.

Most boring race

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Penguin.1345

Just throwing my two copper coins in this pot.

FFXIVs races have no culture assigned to them because the cultures are split by cities. All cities are semi-diverse melting pots of the different races with different cultures in each city. The world of FFXIV is more believable to me due to the similarities of the races in a weird way. They all talk the same language and live in the same world. So of course they would look alike in a realistic environment.

The cities of gw2 are interesting to look at. The visuals are very pretty, especially the slums of the Black citadel or peak of Rata sum. Love the vivid colours on display.

As for the topic on hand i will just agree. The norn are the most boring. They feel underdeveloped. My very first character was a norn. I gave up on the game for a few months after the story quests out of boredom. The voice acting was iffy and Eir sounds like an old lady despite looking like shes in her late 20’s to 30’s. I later made a human warrior which i have enjoyed ever since.

(And this might be a very specific nitpick, they pronounce their J’s hard. Dyormag = Jormag in their book.)

Turning off character skin glow?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Penguin.1345

Both pictures were taken on the same character on the same day. On the first you can see that in complete pitch black darkness, the skin is not affected. It is still visible despite every single other piece of equipment and surroundings are not. This is what i mean by glow. Skin does not care of there is no light, it will still be seen. If there is no light there can be no visibility. Skin cares not for realistic lighting.

On the second i wished to highlight that even if dark and shadowy conditions, the skin still has a very subtle “glow”. it still doesnt care that much for the surrounding lighting.

As a new player, if i were to judge the state of the game purely by what apparently seem to be silence, i would not buy it. No hype or news at all usually means a dead or dying game.

After a few weeks in tyria i was pleasantly suprised to find it full of people, but if not for friends bringing me over i certainly would just have passed this game off as another failed wow-killer.

Turning off character skin glow?

I noticed that my human character is glowing and ever since i did that i have not been able to immerse myself in the world as i could before. I asked on reddit and they lead me to believe it was a consious decision from arena nets side to make the character models skin glow. NPC’s seem to suffer from this aswell, atleast norn and humans.

While the above picture was taken in a pitch blakc area, this is taken in a somewhat murky forest. It is clear that the humans skin is glowing faintly. This is very disturbing to me.

https://i.imgur.com/j9TDeAX.jpg

Since this is apparently a deliberate decision, is there a way to turn it off? It looks kitten at best and disturbing at worst. All time in game since i discovered this has just been me thinking WHY THE HELL AM I GLOWING?!

As shown only the skin is glowing making it even more awkward as if it was a deliberate decision surely the whole character model would glow right?
