I find myself doing OK when running from place to place to get to events as a Revenant with zerker gear on. The #4 skill with the hammer, helps a lot with all of those ranged frogs (and with the candy corn spraying elemental in the Mad King’s Labyrinth, by the way), but those smokescales are a huge problem if one catches you and you don’t counter or escape fast enough. Even some of those mushrooms can be terrible.

Oddly enough, I don’t find the Mordrem nearly as bad as the wildlife of Maguuma, and those are the “big bads” of the expansion. It’s nice being challenged by this game since the base game is pretty easy, but I can see the current difficulty being trouble once the game is past the “Shiny and new!” phase.

Just killed that vampire champ you can only reach during night with choppers in VB. The life leech is insane, and it took us ( 10ish players) 3 times to be able to kill it. Impossible to solo, but fun tho.

I and about 5 other people did the vampire champ, and at one point someone said “no pets please” (I guess it was pulling life out of a player’s pet?). Tough fight, though I thought it was fun.

Thoughts on Ascended Gear? [Merged threads]

I think Aion did the whole “We need another level of gear to satisfy the gear collectors!” by adding in a line that requires the player to keep a certain level of abyss points.

I really hope this isn’t setting a precedent for adding more gear with special stats that are required for completing future dungeons. I’d hate to see that happen. Why not add in a slot to the exotics that allow for adding infusions?

Why are a lot of gamers unsociable?

I like seeing people out and about. I enjoy watching people play. This is why MMOs hold me compared to single player games like Skyrim. However, I do not like the general nasty attitude that arises in most MMOs from sore losers or people who take it upon themselves to berate you for “failing”, as well as the homophobia and sexism I see that gets passed off as “That’s just how it is, DEAL”. Yes, I report, but after seeing it enough in games, it’s caused the whole “Once bitter, twice shy” thing. This game is FAR better about that stuff than others I’ve played, mind you.

That said, I enjoy helping out in the game. If I see people in trouble or needing assistance with an event, I move in to help. I tend not to chat much in text only because of the pace of how things go and I’d rather voice, but I still remain cautious about being social with people in any MMO.

I do wonder why a group would be needed to connect with people. Why not just strike up a conversation with people hanging about? Is it the battle that one needs to open that door and get past small talk?

Snix says: " I am struggling to see how a “one time event” to occur noon PST (20:00 GMT) on the Sunday at the end of the weekend is considered optimum."

Anet says: “We run one-time events at the time where we have the highest concurrency.”

Concurrency means highest number of players. Sure, it sucks that you can’t participate, but I live on the west coast and my time zone is PST and if I wasn’t taking the day off I would miss the Friday part. Just like I missed the Mad King bursting through the LA statue.

There is never going to be a time that is convenient for everyone, and concurrency is the best way to satisfy the most players who can log in.

Why Orr brings out the worst in the "community"

I honestly think no matter where you go, people are still going to be jerks. Not that I’m excusing that behavior, and neither does that mean Orr couldn’t use a rework so people aren’t training lots of mobs as they run through but it just seems inevitable as people think “NOT HERE TO FIGHT, HERE TO MINE/GATHER/CHOP WOOD”

Either way, I haven’t had really bad experiences with this kind of stuff on Isle of Janthir. If I happen to train a mob on someone (usually when hitting stealth to try to shake it and it happens near someone else), it’s really unintentional, and I turn around and fight it because it’s just not right to leave a mess for someone else to clean up. I do try to avoid doing that though.

I actually enjoy helping people out with mobs when it’s clear they need the help, or they’ve pulled multiple mobs upon themselves. I especially enjoy helping out around skill points if I’m near it because I realize how much of a PITA they can be without someone to help out.

Question, i read one time event on the site. Does it mean the whole area with everything else will disappear after?

Probably not, more that the event that sets the whole update off is one time.

The Shatterer - In my opinion.

I’d always assumed that The Shatterer’s fight was sort of an introduction to later Lieutenants, sort of like to get people to dip their toes in the water, so to speak. However, I think of all the lieutenants, The Claw of Jormag is the most challenging (although not really HARD but you have to be on your toes for it).

Halloween Event -- Why so short?

The length seems a bit right, IMO. However I’ll be gone for three days of it so I’ll be missing part of it. I’ve been in other MMOs where the events seemed to last a LONG time (I think Rift seemed to have very long events and some seemed to run right into each other).

Yes Sainguine, why is it a horrible idea? I think we’d like to know your opinion why.

I’ll keep owning on my D/P backstab build with Dagger Storm :-)

My favorite main build is D/P backstab with Dagger Storm. DS is such an awesome Elite Skill that I really don’t use the others.

DR is good - its the only thing saving the game.

" This game is well on its way to be the next MMO flop!"

I’ve seen that said about Aion, Rift, Tera, TSW, and SWTOR and yet all of them are still around.

Then again the word “Flop” varies, so what exactly do you mean by that, Soulwatcher?

Travel in GW2 way too high for high level players?

From my experience, it seems one of the problems with getting money are players selling things on the TP for barely above what they’d sell it for at a merchant. I remember ANet really wanted the players to make use of the TP, which explains why things don’t sell for lots with merchants. But, this doesn’t work if players aren’t trying to make a decent profit (and I don’t mean people selling things for enormous amounts of money either as would happen in Aion, for instance).

I’ve sort of been out of it recently due to hitting 80 and trying to clear my story and the PvE maps, but it will be nice to see what the new match up is like since we’d been getting stomped by Eredon Terrace.

Level 74. The outfit is primarily the Berserker’s Noble set with shoulder pads turned off. The gloves are Slayer’s Bracers from finishing a storyline mission (used as a remodel over Berserker Noble’s gloves), and the pants are remodeled with trousers to look like suit trousers instead of the tucked in fitted pants of the Berserker’s Noble set. Dye is mostly the Midnight ice color (on cloth it’s deep indigo, on leather it looks sort of like worn black).

It’s pretty manageable once you get inside the room. If there are a lot of Embers it gets difficult, but I’d managed to stay in for a while the last time I’d done it. But, that bridge becomes a death trap if people are hesitating there and draw the attention of the Embers.

Of course, the best thing to do is to have people focusing on those. The boss is really soft itself in comparison.

I actually enjoy this one a lot. The Shadow Behemoth in Godslost Swamp is soft like butter in comparison (he was taken down in Beta once within a few minutes last time I encountered him).
