Still broken. I have attempted four times doing the suggested “run to the cannons” method mentioned above, and it is not working for me.
I honestly really hated leveling my Ranger (which is why he’s sat for a year at level 24), so I started frequenting posts such as this one and found that I actually really do enjoy the profession. I just messed around with utilities and fell in love with traps because they seem to do a good deal of damage for levels 15-30. So I ran 10/10/0/0/10 until 40 with Longbow and Sword/Axe. Personally, I really enjoyed the strategy of attacking my enemies with sword, drop traps (especially the flame trap), pull enemies with Axe #4, stab and leap with Sword #2 for Fire Aura, and then Axe #5 for flaming bolts. Perhaps not the most effective strategy but I found it very enjoyable for my playstyle and renewed my perspective on leveling the profession. Hope you can find the same for your fit!
Just remember to have fun with it.
So maybe creat both, go to pvp get in a tournament or just a fast match and see how a lvl 80 thief or engineer works for you?
I may just need to do that, I guess.
Elixer/Bomb Support Build(You wont do a whole lot of damage, but still a good amount. Your condi removal and healing is off the chain. You will pretty much have none stop regen, AoE regen that is none stop, a ton of direct and pulse heals applied to an AoE radius, its really good. I dominate while bunkering with this and it is decent in Dungeons) :

I really like both of these. I remember being a big fan of the Elixir gun. If it’s viable to play with, that’d be great. I’ll take this into consideration if I decide to roll an Engi.
Thanks.
I hate to be “that guy” who asks about what profession he should play, but I simply cannot make up my mind between these two for my third main.
Backstory: I played Engineer as a main in beta and also rolled a Thief shortly after release, both of which I only managed to get mid-30’s, solely PvE. After release, I ended up leveling a Mesmer and a Guardian. And since then, I’ve been rather content with just the two, especially my Mesmer who I’ve really come to dominate in WvW. I’ve made a ton of alternate characters here and there, but I finally want to settle on an Adventurer class to work to 80. The problem is, I can’t remember exactly why I decided not to main Engineer or why I made the decision to stop working on my Thief. But now that I’m well experienced with the game and have re-discovered my playstyle, I’m willing to try either again… or an entirely
tl;dr I could use some advice on a third profession (and/or build suggestions) that suits my ideal playstyle.
My playstyle regarding GW2’s new holy trinity (in both PvE/WvW):
Control
- Probably my favorite facet of playstyles.
- As a Mesmer, focus #4 is my favorite skill in the entire game. Whether it’s pulling someone off a tower, over a cliff, grouping enemies together, or just interrupting to annoy the hell out of someone, I love it.
- I really like cripples/snares/immob. on fleeing targets.
- With that, I also really a enjoy mobility/swiftness both for traveling and risky escapes.
- I really enjoy just messing around with my target via pushes/pulls/stuns, etc. This also includes being hard to kill at the sacrifice of low damage output (I currently run staff tank Mes).
- Truth be told, I really think I like messing with and taunting my enemies more than I do killing them. The power of morale, yes?
Support
- In a group setting, I like being able to help out my comrades in ways other than being just DPS. With my Mesmer, I enjoy being able to blink & stealth across the field to rez someone while my clones distract the target.
- I like being a good supplier of boons or other utility for my party, but not a main support. I’m not interested in being necessary for group heals, etc.
- Combo fields are nice, but not priority.
Damage
- I’ve never been big on a direct damage type, but I’d be willing to try it.
- I typically enjoy condition damage or degen/attrition style.
- I can’t argue with doing damage, but large amounts of it is not a priority.
Thank you for reading, and I appreciate any responses, questions, feedback, or suggestions.

Henge has also been bugged for a week now.
I appreciate the responses. I’ll definitely look into these. And the budget is just ideal as I don’t mind to go over if it’s going to last me.

Hello there Forum-ers,
So, I took out a few hours of my time today to thoroughly clean and dust out my PC which got me thinking. After all that tinkering, I found I really miss building computers for friends, etc. However, I realized I’ve oddly never really built my own personal system. It was store-bought many years ago with a few minor hardware upgrades. With this, I’ve decided I should potentially (definitely) pursue a better gaming system, but would like some help with how I should go about doing so.
As far as I can tell, I have about 3 options:
1. Upgrade my current system — Though I’ll admit this is potentially not the best option for performance, I’m hoping this may still be a viable option for costs. Though my system is not technically a hardcore gaming system, it has gotten me through almost 5 years of comfortable play as I’m not -too- particularly picky about performance, (though more would be nice, of course).
2. Rebuild into new system — I am not particularly sure how well this option is to be honest, but again (in an attempt to save money), I thought I could potentially use a mix of current hardware in a new system/motherboard, etc. Furthermore, as I’m hoping to entirely rebuild a new system eventually anyhow, what are the chances I could find upgrades for my current system to eventually transfer/reuse in a whole new system? However, I realize this raises a whole new issue of compatibility and limited upgrades, etc.
3. Build entire new system — Obviously the most appealing route, this is also the most expensive which is difficult for a student working through private college tuition (yikes). However, I am hoping I could get a good deal buying separate parts over time and building it myself (unless I could find an acceptable pre-built system, that’d work too). I’ve looked on Tiger Direct and other online sites for parts, but again, thought I should reach out to get other input.
Current System:
My current system is about a 5-year-old Dell Studio.
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium (x64)
CPU: Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series
- Any other info/tests that would be useful, let me know
New/Upgraded System:
For any option, my budget is preferably $500-$800, though it is possible to exceed that. However, again, I’m not very picky or looking for absolute top-notch. But I would definitely like the best upgrades for the money.
Any advice, suggestions, or builds would be fantastic and greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Phantom.3659
Justin
I am also suddenly receiving this error code and have tried your suggestion; however, I am unfortunately having no luck with this command. Furthermore, I have had no significant problems playing earlier this week until just today. I have attempted many numerous fixes, including this one, but none have seemed to work.
Are there any other possible solutions you may suggest?
