At least the greatsword-swirling-forearm was fixed… If that’s of any consolation.

It isn’t.

(Happy to hear that something got fixed, tho. ^^)

I don’t believe this was ever a bug either. The more time that elapses cements my belief that this was done intentionally.

A friend of mine offered up a theory that this was in some way connected to GamerGate. At the time, I thought that seemed a bit conspiratorial. Now I’m not so sure; there could be something to that. But if the anims were removed in response to some push by parties involved with GamerGate (or fear of such an action) then I’d like an answer to these simple questions: What on earth was so offensive about the animations? Why was it determined that the anims needed to go? And WHY LIE ABOUT IT AFTERWARD?

Despite those questions, I’m not interested in a Dev’s response to any of them because I already know what sort of nonsense such a response would probably contain. Much more interested in hearing the thoughts of the player base.

The thing I am most curious about is how could these animations have been “bugged” out in the first place. Wouldn’t they have to have been deliberately working on the code related to these specific animations in the first place?

Maybe someone with coding experience can elaborate on this, but would this type of bug have been caused if they were working on code for something unrelated, say…the Trading Post?

Stop making so much sense!

Perhaps, you’d like to play with this very shiny, nifty, trinkety thingamajig instead…

"Leveling as a Reward" Experience Crippling!

Although I honestly don’t expect anyone at Anet to actually read, let alone listen to what I have to say, I am going to say it anyway.

I am one of the veteran players, I have over 4 thousand hours into the game. I am also one of the people who have a lot of alts. I have 16 of them to level 80, with another 20 at measured increments from 20 to 75. (Why yes, I know I am crazy, and I only buy the character slots when they are on sale)

While the leveling has been dumbed down to the lowest common denominator, I don’t have much of the leveling to drag myself through. But… this game was already dumbed down when I first started playing it almost 2 years ago.

As it stands now. I let my 5 year old next door neighbor make a character and start leveling her. He had no issues at all in figuring out how to play. Congratulations, you have reached your target audience. Unfortunately, your target audience doesn’t have disposable income.

In April you changed the trait system. Despite not being able to trait until level 30, and the final trait points being given at level 74, but not able to be used until level 80, if you have unlocked the trait you want, or spent the skill points AND gold to get them, I was able to deal with the changes and tweaks.

Now, however, you have made it so that you don’t have a ‘capable’ character until level 40 to 60 (depending on your class and gameplay style). By ‘capable’ I mean capable of playing PvE solo, which is about 80% of the PvE content. Capable of not dying half a dozen times before you do enough hearts to get enough levels, to unlock the skills THAT WERE NOT CONFUSING OR SCARY TO BEGIN WITH.

I recently spent 50 dollars on gems, and converted all of my gold to gems, and purchased enough character slots to make a new race and/or a new class. There are many new games that are out or soon will be out, even if I don’t request a refund, I doubt I will be playing this game, purchasing accounts for my own children for xmas, or spending one red cent more to play a game that has been idiot-proofed to the extent this one has been.

I will give it until the 19th for communication from the devs that indicates someone, anyone at Anet is paying attention, but I doubt it will happen.

TL:DR This game has been dumbed down past the tolerance of old and new players alike, I am taking my wallet elsewhere.

Hear, hear!! My feelings too at this point!

BTW, Wavey, you only get 1 new trait point every 6 levels…not every 5.

Looking at you, Anet…

I loved GW2

I appreciate, and just want to echo what the OP has said. I started playing GW2 shortly after it went live, and was a regular (and casual) player through about July of this year. I think I just slowly lost heart for it – for many of the same reasons that were mentioned in the original posts – and now I just don’t log in anymore.

At some undefined point I just stopped having fun. Game play (for me) just sorta became more joyless, in little increments. “Playing my way”, while nothing was keeping me from doing so, held less and less incentive over time. sigh

Anyway, thank you, OP, for taking the time to sort your thoughts and write it all out so well. I appreciate that I’m not the only one who feels this way. I suppose we can just sit and hope that things turn around…even if it’s just a fool’s hope.

Happy New Year, everybody.

NPCs have counted consistently for me. Try going to the hunting lodge in Queensdale. There are always dead hunters scattered all over.

I tried this today. For some reason about every other NPC didn’t register when I rezzed them. Not sure why, but very frustrating.

To my fellow disgruntled players who are hoping for a change/rollback on the dailies, I’d encourage you to make noise elsewhere on the web as well. If you have Twitter and/or FB accounts then get on there and make yourself heard; drown them with posts!

I think another thing that bothers me is that you don’t get as much experience from doing dailies as you did with the old ones (at least I believe so, please correct me if I’m wrong.) I found dailies a pretty good way of getting experience on lower level characters, so this is a bit disappointing to me.

I’d also very much like to know the answer to this.

Are the devs even reading the forums/playing anymore or are they like Bioware on their personal servers now without DR?

kittening AWFUL change to the dailies.

I hate crafting. I know some people love it; great, and more power to them. To me it’s worse than watching paint dry. Every minute I have to spend at a crafting station is pure boredom.

Dodging Daily: W.T.F.?? It took me forever to get this one, because only a small percent of my dodges counted. My normal play style isn’t to get right into harm’s way and then wait until the last possible second to dodge – which seems to be the only way to successfully have it count toward the daily. Stupid. This doesn’t encourage smarter play, only riskier play.

I didn’t even bother trying to finish the daily tonight; was too kitten about it to even get motivated.

For the love of god, change it back! Or if you want to add optional EXTRA achievements for these other things, go for it, but don’t kitten up the existing system. At least let the old daily requirements always be a valid way of completing the daily achievement.
