LOL… Half of the OP was complaining about movement in the new map and the other half was complaining about forums and people on the forums. Awesome.
Glad you proably prove him right then about forum attitude.
@ Lord Funk, Queensdale is always available if complex maps are not your thing. Personally I felt like this new map was born from next generation map building, we have enough straight foreward easy to navigate maps, its time for something completely different and challenging, and it looks like HoT is going to give us that.
Wasn´t that the exact type of response op predicted? I mean telling him to play Queensdale from someone probably saying stuff are too ez mode and want what they consider “harder” content. Very smug and predictable.
The skill challenges that you have completed will give you Hero Points retroactively. Those that you have not completed will need to be completed.
The Dulfy summary didn’t really specify that either. Made me even more confused. All that said was:
http://dulfy.net/2015/04/24/gw2-specializations-ama-livestream-notes/
“•Hero Points – You get some from leveling (400 pts). Old skill challenge will give you them as well (220 pts in total). You ned 465 to get everything so you just need to do 65 skill challenges to get all the core ones (not elite). Anyone who has world completion completed will have more than enough.”
It also says:
“•Unlocking all 5 core lines will cost you 300 hero points, this will give you 100 points remaining to spend on skills (assuming you havn’t done any hero challenges).”
So not even saying 465 there but 300 so very confusing.
Then it says:
“•Every skill has been placed into a category. So when you into Cantrip training you will get all the Cantrips by spending an additional 35 points.”
Even more confusing.
It doesn’t say retroactively anywhere there. That text could just mean that LvL 80’s get 400 and “only” have to do 65 hero challenges (known as old skill challenges) on top of that to unlock all core ones.
Saying old skillchallenges could just mean that they reffer to hero challenges that now is called skill challenges NOT necessarily that we will be rewarded retroactively for the ones we have done.
I guess ANet was more clear on the RETROACTIVE part in the stream then?

Thank you for that quick response! :-)
I’m glad to hear that. I for one have have never bothered with world completion as I’m not really interested in Legendary weapons. I find most of them both ugly and silly looking. No real incentive for me to do World completion except a little star beside my name.
Many times I have thought I will do it but having to go back and do all those hearts in some areas has just put me off.
However I have done many skillchallenges to unlock slotskills (heals, utility, elite). I would be really bored if i had to go out and regrind all of those just to unlock what I already had unlocked.
I didn't want to say it but(post spec stream)

This is to those who watched the live stream that might be able to confirm this.
As I said in another thread, I did not watch it myself as I can never figure out when it is. Every time I follow their twitch link there’s nothing running. I’m not used to using twitch (just as I dont use twitter and stuff) at all and also the time zones makes me never having been able to catch any GW2 live stream. Also ANet are really slow on putting it on youtube. Takes day for them to put it on their youtube channel.
Anyway, I have read some comments on official forums from people who did watch but not sure what are real observations and just subjective interpretations.
A part of a comment here at least touch a subject i was curious about:
and what the skill scrolls will do (turn into wallet currency for the Forge).
There have been so many speculations (my own thoughts as well) that ANet would just replace our skillscrolls and such with random mystic forge materials and we’d have no choice. Some comments have even suggest there would be introduced some new material that would replace all old materials in the mystic forge etc.
However this means we at least will not lose out on this and probably get 1 of those new currencies for 1 skillpoint that we can use just as we now use skillpoints as currency and pick any material we want and this new currency will be worth the same as skillpoints were.
Can someone please confirm they really said that?

I rather watch something when it suits my time-table rather than drop everything else and sit at a specific time someon else have chosen for me. Probably the reason i never watch regular TV anymore (that and the fact it’s mostly some kind of docusoap crap) but thats just me. :-)
So it It seems general questions got dropped from the stream. Although there was this dedicated thread on the forums for submitting questions but instead they decided what they felt they wanted to tell us. At least according to comments on the forums like:
…..le sigh………………“ask me anything” turned into “here’s what we’re going to tell you”.
Anyway, I have read some comments on official forums from people who did watch it that seems to verify what I feared. Comments like:
That, and the fact that lvl 80 toons with all the traits unlocked
will be stripped of their traits, and will have to grind hero points….
No no no.
Oh well…can’t say I didn’t see this coming but hope dies last.
I’ll just wait it out in WvW without buying the Xpak until CU goes live.
That was acctually one of the things I wanted to ask.
If this is a real observation, it means we who are lvl 80 wont get our skill points converted to hero points to spend but have to regrind all those hero points to unlock traits, specialization tracks and to get slot skills back etc. Can you confirm this if you watched the stream?
I thought at least they would see how many skillchallenges we had done on the maps and then give us the same amount of hero points to spend on the new traits and specilaization tracks etc system.
Do we really have to regrind all those old skillchallenges (renamed as hero challenges)?
So this means us who already have unlocked all slot skills (key 6, 7, 8, 9 and 0) that needed skillpoints to unlock will have to restart with these new hero challenges? Sit and grind hero points on each character to get what we already had unlocked? Run around do the hero challenges on each character? Sure we will get some hero points as we are lvl 80 but we need more to get them all again. Also (if I understand correctly) slot skills will be tied to a specific specialization track so we will have to grind the whole track maybe to get that one slot skill we might want?
To clarify a bit more what I mean, as there are so many terms. Skills (comes with weapon on keys 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5), slotskills (keys 6, 7. 8, 9 and 0), traits, core specialization, specilizations etc that I’m even confused what to call what.
I read/interpret the blog and picture example as we do need to re"earn" SLOT SKILLS as it looks like slot skills are also unlocked with specialization tracks/lines which means using Hero Points (since old skillpoints won’t excist).
Weaponskills (key 1, 2, 3,4 and 5) comes with the weapon just as now I take it.
HOWEVER I can’t see from ANet’s example that you unlock slot skills (key 6, 7, 8, 9 and 0) outside the specialization tracks/lines. I could be wrong BUT If you would, that would also mean you sacrifice/use hero points on slot skills instead of on specializations tracks/lines.
Considering that hero points are limited/fixed on maps, a finite currency (only x amount available) so you can only get a capped/max number of hero points on any character, would mean you couldn’t unlock much if use hero points both for specialization tracks/lines as well as slot skills.
It could be that we who have unlocked certain slot skills might get to keep them but how will that work in new system as some slot skills we have unlocked now might be further into a specialization track and we might not have the lower slot skills in that track unlocked. If so one specilialization track could be locked in the lower levels but have the slot skill further in unlocked just because we had it unlocked already? That would probably be hard to implement and confusing.

I have seen this too. I wasn’t the one getting kicked but 3 others in Group voted to kick someone just as end boss was almost dead just because they had some tween drama between them with the person they kicked. Happens alot with elite speed runners I’ve been told. They kick people for whatever resaon they see fit. That’s why I stopped joining pugs and now alot of the times Dungeons are content not playable to me. Unless I find enough people I know on at the same time to do a Dungeon with. I play odd times, so often I do not.
However I don’t see how switching to 2 votes to kick someone would solve this? In fact it would make it even easier to abuse.
I don’t like Instance/Dungeon owner mechanics either as if then the owner dc whole party will lose progress.
No idea what solution would be? 4 votes needed maybe? Could still be abused if you are that 1 person who joined.
Another thought/quesion(s)? ANet (you) specify (or not specify) “Old skill points in excess of those earned by leveling and skill challenges will be converted into crafting materials for the Mystic Forge. Items and activities that were previously repeatable sources of skill points will now also provide that same crafting material”. In one sentence you say “materials” plural. In other sentence you say “that same crafting material” singular. As if Mystic Forge crafting materials will be turned into just 1 type that might need various amount depending on what recipe it’s used in.
If it will not be that and we will still have a bunch of different mystic forge materials like now, will we be able to chose which materials we will get for our old skillpoints, scrolls and such or will it be random? Lets say someone who might NOT want A Legendary Weapon (as I for example find most of them ugly/silly and also I don’t want silly steps wherever I go) might still get a random material needed for Legendary and no choice at all? Then be stuck with an account bound material that is useless to them?
