Heya, I had the same problem and Proxcel’s advice worked for me

Hi guys, loving the game to bits!
I have a question about this game and windows 8 though. Due to my eligibility on dreamspark, I was able to get a release version of windows 8. The thing is, guild wars 2 does not seem to run as well anymore despite my system specs. I did a few searches for gameplay footage on windows 8 and it seems to run as well as ever in all the videos I’ve watched, and when this machine had windows 7 the game ran around 60 FPS, but now while it will run at 60 FPS on the character selection screen, the game itself runs under 30 :S

Can anyone offer any assistance? Here are my specs

i7-2600k 3.4GHz quad core
16GB ram
radeon 6950 2GB

if it helps, I’m also running the game of an SSD.
