you know, this thread worries me about the OP more than anything else, the fact that he his oblivious to one of the most basic rule of most society (preserving the innocence and sanctity of childs), a rule even respected by criminals but the most deranged ones. (seriously, look up some studies, incarcerated pedophiles need extra protection to not get shanked on day 1).
That worries me more than anything else
god, ive wanted that since i started playing this game x_x
I wish people would stop saying “i beat teq herego he is still easy and doable”
When people argue that he’s now impossible, its an exagerated statement exacerbated by frustration.
were just trying to say that the hp buff was excessive and that it alone makes the fight a complete crapshoot due to the amount of variables to be taken into account on a single map.
you could have buffed his hp just a little less people wouldnt complain, you could have lenghten the timer a little people wouldnt complain, etc etc
Theres must be a distinction between “people are too lazy” and “The boss has a effort/reward ratio thats too low”.
Triple trouble is everyone’s favorite example for that, it requires way more effort and coordination than most people are willing to put in for the reward it gives.
Thats what people dont want to see Teq become. He’s a cool, awesome world boss that was a blast to do before patch, with or without any overly organized maps, Anet could have buffed his hp just a little more and im sure it would have been great.
Please guys, dont mistakenly mix in the same bowl the real reasons for our complaints about Teq
People, its been said multiple time now. the surplus of hero points we all have will be to unlock whatever new skills/trait that Anet puts into the game at a latter date.
For now, see them as savings waiting in your piggy bank for the merchant to put new items for sale on his stall
not gonna read all 45 pages but heres my two cent
All those black lions ticket skin, why arent they for sale ?! So many people dying to get at least one of em (id personally buy a dozen, so many cool ones i want) but dont spend a quarter because black lion ticket scrap are hidden being a dumb and way too risky RNG paywall.
If anything this discourage buying gem, not encourage it.
Also, i LOVE the magitech skin and i would die for a steampunk power armor for heavy armor users
I feel like a lot of players are being misled or are misunderstanding that nobody is against downscaling or wanna be able to just roflstomp throught areas.
Were just saying that when a downscaled lvl80 is weaker than a person of the right level for the content because of a flawed and flat algorythm, somethings obviously broken.
The downscaling is supposed to make the two players equals in lower level areas, not put down the lvl80 one.
Teh only major misstep I see with this new trait system was Anet taking it upon themselves to assign any trait points to anyone, thereby forcing them to play builds and in ways they don’t want to without giving them any recourse to reassign the auto assigned hero points.
That was rude and basically was Anet telling players to literally play the way Anet thinks you should play.
They need to give sub 80 characters the ability (even if its a one time thing) to reassign the hero points on their trait lines. It literally ruined the game for many people, my wife included and I can understand her rage at the game and at Anet for this one.
We already knew some builds would be broken and boy howdy did they break them. I’m sure there are others that can be made, but right now I’m just seeing a lot of the same builds being used (same as before) only this time there is less diversity in those builds.
Maybe the meta will change some more in the coming weeks, but as of right now, meh. About half my toons are shelved because they aren’t viable and I might be forced to buy new armor and trinkets just to make them valid again and i don’t have the gold or the time to grind it out at the moment.
This, so much this.
With such a huge overhaul with the trait system, some builds were bound to be scrapped, some were bound to change and so on.
Many people were bound to want to change build or experiment with this new system.
That we were not even given the OPTION of a reset is insulting
Im sorry but thats a fallacious argument trying to use the game’s transgender support as a justifying strawman for your issue.
One is a society problem that is solved throught increasing awareness, the other is a software issue solved by fiddling with settings at your leisure.
I am a dungeons/Raids player ,
Quit while your ahead. or rather dont put too much into the what is currently avail.
Thats probably my biggest con coming from WoW, GW2 dosent really have an homologue to wow’s raid, closest thing youll ever get is the world boss (when people bother doing them) or whichever event zone is the big thing at the moment (silverwaste right now)
what’s the warrior’s elite spec?
Unrelated to the topic at hand but what very few datamining was done on the topic revealed something potentially called “berserker”
I mention it purely for posterity’s sake and to please you as it was done from very poor and shallow datamining
yeah, my lvl31 necro got the same slap in the face, now im stuck with the entirery of the minion skills but the life steal specialization, its an incredibly akward build and it would basicly take a while of dealing with a kittenty build just to be able to fix it
Thank god my lvl17 ele wasent TOO touched by this (only his skills are kittened up, but at least in a way thats less aggravating to my playstyle)
Let me be clear, I’m no expert when it comes to creating a optimum build.
What I’m trying to say though, this update took my old build and made it better.
This only applies to my ranger, not sure about my other toons yet.
Yeah on my warrior my axe/GS build hasent changed but my rifle build for silverwaste improved a crapton
And there are several topics on this— and there were when Black Wings were for sale. These items have limited time solely to induce fever for sale and then post-sale will increase interest in those that do not have them.
Sorry.
But the thing is, this isint a situation that foster hype and need. By the very way this game work with microtransaction, chances are, if you want a certain item, youll always want it. Having it on sale for a very short period creates frustration, not hype or demand for the next time its on sale :/
ironically, many players have noted that many trait ended up somewhere that didint feel right at all (like inspiring banned being in discipline rather than tactics for warriors) or sometime certain trait line feeling somewhat incohesive.
This is why this game needs a PTR server, this would of been decided weeks ago, if it was ever put to a vote I’m sure it would be 90-95% in favor of the reset. Instead Arenanet has to play dictator on us and make us play their way instead of how we want to play…
Cant speak against that, the way things were done is almost a slap in the face of anyone who isint 80, just started a character or by some luck got assigned the build they wanted to play with.
Worst is, i actually like the new system, its just that the way they did the transition for any toon not lvl80 is actually even more confusing then just relearning the system from scratch.
Now a person returns to the game to see this new point system already spent in multiple places and see things she didint want
They covered this on here somewhere, but to summarize:
They debated it.
And felt more newer/less experienced players would be hurt by being left with blank builds than experts would be by having some stuff picked for them.
Thats a…pretty ridiculous logic.
New players will have to learn the system anyway and i know a few “new players” who were left utterly confused because that “picking for them” thingy left them with a spread of skills and traits they didint want/didint matched what they found fun.
Especially considering the huge change to many things there was.
I mentionned my ele but i can name my necro too, now she’s stuck with the right skill but she was given a specialization that dosent match at all the build i was gonig for pre-patch. Now its just confusing and really boring to play with an completly dysfunctional build
Title says it all.
Why oh why, after doing a such a giant change with the skills and trait would they not just reset our things and leave it at that ?
I feel like trying to mirror our old build is utterly idiotic.
They changed everything about the system ? Thats means obviously you cant mirror the old build perfectly, inducing mistakes but theres also been so many changes, i wouldve done many things differently rather than want my old build at all cost.
An excellent example is on my lvl17 elementalist. in the old system, frostbow is a second tier skill and it was easy to get.
Now, frostbow is the second to last skill in the conjured weapon track, and since i had it equipped, the game sank all my point so i could still have it, so now i have all 4 conjured weapons.
lightning hammer was a tier 3 skill before, now its the second in line. had i made my character post-patch, i wouldve have only gotten lava axe and lightning hammer and spent my points elsewhere.
Overall im saying its dumb that they forced the spending of hero points on us and not just let us rediscover everything. especially since because of the change, a few people ended up with builds and point spread completly wrong
personally the game just dun goofed reassigning my hero points according to this dumb “mirror the old build” thingy.
Now my necro has the skills for a minion master build, but the core spec for a direct damage lifesteal one. its kittened and kinda ruined the character
My only grievance right now with the new system is how it forcefully spent my hero points the way they thought was right on my lvl31 necro
How that went was basicly catastrophic and left me in a really akward spot where i have skills that dont match the core spec they gave me.
I find it really dumb that they didint just give us a reset
then i am completly clueless as to what happened.
i guess ill just try to forget it.
Now what really suck is how anet completly screwed up reassigning the traits on my necro :/
For some reason they gave me the blood tree when i was running minion master. so now im stuck with kittenty minions trying to play catch-up in the death tree -_-
I actually am decked in the best possible gear i can possibly get short of ascended/legendaries :/
i spent hours figuring out a new build too :/
i feel they really overdid downscaling
No. The patch notes means you are weaker after the patch than before the patch. On the other hand when upscaled such as characters below 80 going into WvW they will be stronger after the patch than before.
Okay, but when my lvl80 is downscaled to lvl25 and is weaker than a character actually lvl25, this isint right either.
they should be equal at least
So hum, im gonna be more open-minded than lighter here and mention that since the patch hit, things have felt wrong
ive been dying much more easily and my axe build dosent seem as good anymore
i switched to try greatsword (its going slightly better)
I was told tho that level scaling was kittened up right now (i was level 80 and frolicked a little throught kessex hills) and ive been getting pawned by stuff i KNOW i should have been able to solo (coincidentally, i saw other GW warriors that werent downscaled and they were doing fine)
am i doing something awefully wrong here ?
i use a rifle for silverwaste personally.
with the new system, i use the discipline tree to capitalize on the weapon swapping to get might, adrenalin and clear condis on me,
Add to that the trait in the other trees that reduce burst cooldown, guarantee critical hit, makes burst skill refund adrenalin and give a 10 second 20% damage build and you get a build that can spam kill shot hardcore for great damage.
Im probably missing a few part of the build here but those are the key ones
Im sorry but tedium does not equal skill, I found most of troll’s revenge jumping and pathing to be on-par with other jumping puzzle, its just insanely long and unforgiving.
Tedious dosent mean skill, and thats what really sucks. You get screwed completly if you do the slightest mistake.
Title says it all, today i felt like something was wrong when doing map completion and i decided to test it when i met a warrior who was using the same build as me when i was doing kessex hills.
we did the circus skill challenge where you fight a strongman.
he was the right level for it, i was level80 down-scaled to his level. his stats were better than mine and he saw bigger numbers, i was also squishier than him.
I know it wasent necessarly great for lvl80 to be able to utterly kitten low level content, but now its bad in the opposite way !
Am i honestly crazy or missing something ? because this is just odd and annoying.
I hope people notice this, if im not completly bonkers, this is an issue that needs adressing
p.s.: i actually readed the patchnotes
“In general, scaling down has been weakened, and scaling up has been increased.”
the wording is very confusing for me, is that supposed to mean that a player who got scaled down should have an easier or a harder time against low level content ?
cause if its the former, they completly dun goofed and if its supposed to be the latter, they really overdid it
