After doing Tequatl at reset this evening, I used my Silver Fed Salvage-O-Matic to salvage the rares I got, and then after I cleared up my inventory, I realized that the salvage-o-matic has disappeared. Seems like when they changed how salvage kits work in conjunction with confirmation boxes, it led to the consuming of my salvage-o-matic.
Well, I would just like to say that Anet did something fantastic. I have not done anything to my computer, and today the trading post is operating super fast and efficiently. So whatever you guys did, thank you!
I am experiencing a lot of TP slow down myself, specifically with scrolling and the pop-up window after selecting an item. This has always been kinda slow yet easily tolerable, but at some point over the summer there was some patch that changed it, and every since the TP can take anywhere from 0.5 to a full 3 seconds to respond to a button click on the pop-up window. And this is just headbangingly intolerable (particularly since I am a TP power user).
I have tried every solution posted here, namely clearing the cache as well as repairing the game client. And I always go to my home instance when using the TP as that usually provides a tiny performance boost, but it comes nowhere near solving it now. Also computer resources are not starved at all on my gaming desktop, so there shouldn’t be any hardware reasons for poor performance.
For further reference, here is a reddit thread with more comments on the issue, although they attempt to posit a causal link with windows version (I am running win7, so I doubt that is the cause):

I commend your idea to research this; however, the drop rates on many items are in the fractions of a percent. Therefore, to get the appropriate resolution, you will need several orders of magnitude more data to draw any sort of respectable conclusions. It is just not feasible to do with a handful of data points.
I find myself with this problem as well. I left to go grocery shopping for a couple hours, and when I came back, the game had downloaded 5500 MB, and was still not complete. To get the client to even start the download, I had to specify a different server (-assetsrv 62.154.232.120). But every time I restart it, it just starts downloading that one last file to some endless amount.
Also it seems that every once in a while, the client window spazzes and redraws itself.
I mentioned this earlier, but I have high doubts it is 1 in 20,000 odds. If that were the case, then we have the following probabilities:
P(getting mini) = 0.00005
P(not getting mini) = 0.99995
P(not getting mini in 156k tries) = (0.99995)^(156,000) = 0.00041 = 0.041%
P(getting mini in 156k tries) = 99.959%
So either I hit the reverse lottery (well let’s face it, I probably would :p), or the odds are not 1 in 20,000. I think a more likely scenario is 1 in 100,000, in which case a repeat of the above calculation for 156k tries gives a 79% chance. This thread shows a few people opening more than 100k bags and not getting the mini, so I think this is more than likely.
I would be interested in knowing how the wiki got that figure, but I just have high doubts about it.
Hello guilds!
I am a veteran player of GW2 looking for a friendly, relaxed guild of skilled dungeon runners. Not looking for anything in particular outside of that, but some pluses would include:
— Daily group of dungeon runners
— Groups that do PvE farming (Dry Top comes to mind mainly here)
— Interest in achievement completion
— Yak’s Bend server, or at least server indifferent
— No representation requirements (I have no problem representing during events with others in the guild, but I have a guild of close friends that I will primarily be with).
About me:
— Player since GW2 beta. Very experienced in any PvE content.
— I do just about everything in the game, from dungeons and fractals to SPvP and WvW.
— Usually playing everyday, mainly in the evening.
— I have every profession available, but only 3 are 80s (Warrior, Elementalist, and Mesmer), and I spend 99.9% of my time playing on the Mesmer.
— Very friendly and generally shy :x
— Ideally want to find a group of people to just tour the dungeons everyday efficiently and have a good time.
— Have Ventrillo, Teamspeak, Mumble, etc.
I look forward to hearing from you guys!
even if it winds up being hundreds of gold in price, at least that’s slightly more possible than a 1/100,000 chance of a drop (or 1/20,000 I think I read somewhere) for those of us who actually want it.
Well, I can pretty much say with high certainty that it is not a 1/20,000 drop. The odds of not getting the mini in 156k bags is 0.04% chance if it were a 1/20,000 drop. If it were 1/100,000, then the odds of not getting the mini in 156k bags would be 21% chance. Granted this is not a true RNG, but I believe the sample size is large enough to overcome the margins of error between a RNG and a pseudo-RNG, so I am inclined to think the latter.

As an update, I would like to refine the suggested Mystic Forge recipe I gave:
— 13 Mini Zuzus
— 1 Ploy-luminescent Undulating Refractor (Green)
— 1 Ploy-luminescent Undulating Refractor (Black)
— 1 Ploy-luminescent Undulating Refractor (Orange)
I do not know how many bags I have opened at this point, but I did tally up the results of the first 32k bags, and I found that there was on average 24 luck per bag. I started at 153% magic find from luck, and have now reached 300% magic find from luck. Based on that, I have calculated that I have opened 156k bags, contents containing the following:
— 0 Mini Gwynefyrdd
— 17 Mini Zuzus
— 1 Oontz Necklace of the Gourd
— 3 Oontz Necklaces of the Ghoul
— 7 Endless Halloween Tonics
— ~40k each of Dragonite Ore, Empyreal Fragments, and Bloodstone Dust
— 2500 shiny wrappers
At this stage, there is no reason for me to continue opening bags since I have quite literally run out of all inventory space and karma for the ascended materials. That and I have finished maxing out magic find.
Please, please, please do not make account bound RNG anymore. It is depressing to see all this hard work for naught (with respect to the goal of obtaining the mini). I do not regret maxing my magic find, but now there’s just no reason to keep opening bags.
Also, an amusing side calculation. Anet stated yesterday that more than 137 million ToT bags were generated in game. I opened more than 0.1% of those ToT bags and did not get a Mini Gwynefyrdd. I have to wonder how many Gwynefyrdds are in game.
As a suggestion, there should be a mystic forge recipe that involves taking 13 Zuzus and turning them into a Gwynefyrdd. It would certainly be expensive enough to do (especially after the price for Zuzus skyrocket afterwards), and so maintain a sense of rarity.
I am one of those obsessive collectors, and I have opened more than 120k bags at this point, nearly maxing my magic find from 153% to 262%. In my time of opening bags, I have earned 15 Zuzus, 2 Oontz necklaces, and 6 Endless tonics. I will continue to open bags until I reach 300% magic find, but I will put my 2 cents in here and say that I am a sad panda about RNG account bound minis. I want to be proud of the hard work I put into collecting my minis, and if I do get this mini, I won’t be proud of it like I was Liadri.
I think there is a too much reading into the storytelling going on. Synonyms for eldritch include sinister and ghostly (in fact, the definition pulled up by Google is precisely “sinister or ghostly”). Mystic Coins are an everyday item, literally! They are a reward for daily achievements. Finally, I can’t think of anyplace on Tyria that has geysers outside of Southsun. Possible materials that come from karka, reef riders, and gathering include blood vials, venom sacs, karka shells, and passion fruit and flowers (junk items do not appear in the Mystic Forge).
Granted, John could be yanking our chains on this giving misdirected details, but I’m with Occam on this. Simplest answers are the best answers.
And as an aside, my experience with Mystic Forge recipes are that the compatibility highlighting is not an exact science. I have had many instances where the highlighting does not highlight items for which a known recipe does exist. The below screenshot is an example. Eldritch Scroll and Mystic Coins go with the Ancient Focus Cores to make the Mystic Focus, but its not getting highlighted. So the fact that Eldritch Scrolls, Mystic Coins, and those crafting materials don’t all get highlighted does not necessarily mean that they don’t form a recipe. I don’t know if this is bug or intended function (maybe John can provide some enlightenment on that).
You may have bugged out the mystic forge by placing items in even after they are greyed out…. the focus component does not get greyed out for me at all
I went to test this for myself, put in the eldritch scroll, and the core greyed out. I should have taken a screenshot but wasn’t thinking. I took out the scroll, put in the core, and then the scroll was not greyed out. So I went back to nothing in, and put in the scroll, and this time the core did not grey out. So…I’m not sure how to reproduce it greying out….?
Yea, I just tried again, and this time it did not grey out. So its either a bug or perhaps some sort of account unlock to know that compatibility.
In any event, I probably wouldn’t disqualify a partial combination. Only a full set of four items where you can then see the Forge button light up or not.
