HoT story critically flawed?

I think the idea is that the open world map-wide meta events are as much part of the story as the instances are, and happen somewhat simultaneously (very explicit in the case of the Dragon’s Stand final battle, which happens the exact same time as the final instance).

So, while it’s admittedly not very well laid out in the single-player story instances, we most definitely did not just “walk our way to Mordremoth’s inner lair with not much trouble”, there were massive offensives going on that made it possible for us to sneak past Mordy’s defenses. Very much recommend playing the meta event content and the Dragon’s Stand one in particular for the complete story experience.

Hypothesis about Saul and Exalted

Surely these creatures were the stuff of divinity. Hungry and exhausted, his clothes ragged and dirty, Saul dropped to his knees and touched his forehead to the ground. He had found his gods, and they in turn had found their most devoted disciple.

From the Prophecies Manuscripts regarding Saul meeting these mysterious beings for the first time. Heavily implies these are in fact Mursaat who have found a pawn for themselves. And what reason would the Exalted have to pose as gods anyway? They were former humans retaining their personalities and memories, surely they could have reasoned or sympathized with the man instead of letting him make up some crazy beliefs.

Meanwhile the Mursaat have a clear motive for tricking Saul from the very start, and a long-term plan laid out. Having all that be just some stroke of luck for them caused by Saul somehow managing to mistake them for the Exalted sounds really silly.

From a storytelling perspective, retconning the first contact with the Mursaat as being Exalted would be a very lame way to jam them into the existing lore. Not that ANet doesn’t have a bit of a history of doing this but still…

The Exalted lore!

I don’t understand how the Mursaat would just let the Forgotten start to build a city in what is essentially their territory

Do note that the Forgotten have had a presence in the Maguuma since the very beginning. The Prophecies manuscripts mentions that they could be found in “the Tarnished Coast in the west” when describing how widely spread on the continent they were.

Also note that the article never mentions a timeline on when Tarir the city was founded, only that the Forgotten did it. For all we know it could be thousands of years old. All we know is that the Exalted themselves were created some 50 years before GW1.

See attached for what we saw in-game as a city of gold.

Now I’m curious. How does the Golden City architecture compare to the ruins the Asura found when they arrived on the surface (e.g. in Rata Sum)? Could they be old Exalted structures?

While reintroducing the Mursaat might have been lorebreaking, what we got was far worse: a race of glowing floating magical exalted goody-two-shoes Marty Stus.

Considering we barely know anything about them other than their history and motives, it’s horribly early to start throwing “Mary Sue” around.

Considering the Exalted supposedly retain their personality and memories from their time as humans, I’d say they are anything but Mary Sue’s and have very strong potential for proper character and flaws and everything that comes with being a human.

So I’m trying to reinstall the game (after deleting all data) but the installer crashes after downloading files for a few seconds. Crash report gives me a “Fatal Error: Fatal disk-error (0: ) on write”. What might be causing this? Sounds like something wrong with my system. I’m running a Win7 32 bit installation and the rest of the specs easily meet system requirements. Video card drivers are up to date.

Yes, it’s only GW2 that’s muted. I can play music and videos from YouTube perfectly fine even while GW2 is running in the background.

One day after starting the game up normally the sound just wouldn’t come on. No music, no sound effects, no nothing.

I’ve tried pretty much everything bar complete reinstall of the game. I’ve looked through the in-game settings dozens of times (and tried disabling, changing and restoring any and all options that might affect audio), I’ve tried a full file repair, I’ve shut down all programs that might interfere with the game (mainly Skype and/or TeamSpeak), I’ve tried different speakers and headphones…

This is really getting annoying. Does anyone have a solution so I don’t have to completely reinstall the game?

Hmm, if that’s so.. maybe this is when Spoiler:Snuff died?

Wrong on both accounts. His name is Spoiler:Snaff and that battle was fought in the Crystal Desert, not the Shiverpeaks.

Also, there were no Kodan present there.
