It’s not that thieves are OP, per se. I think it’s moreso the manner in which most players experience combat versus the thief……it’s irritating. They have the distinct honor of being annoying, just like rogues in WoW, because the entire premise of the profession is to be an assassin, not a front line fighter. Still, when you die with no chance to respond, that stinks. Most of the time I find they spam one skill over and over and over and over and over, whether it’s dancing dagger, or death blossom, or that back stab thingy I can’t think of the name of right now. As a guardian, unless they have others with them, they typically cannot kill me. But, once they realize that, they are gone. Bye bye. It’s just not fun game play, for me, or the thief player. My primary alt is a thief and I like the class in general. You can’t blame thief players for using what’s most effective. Anet just has a little bit of adjusting to do, and I’m hopeful they will (without breaking things lol). The game is only a couple months old folks….

I agree the value of defense isn’t worth the cost. Why pay for siege only to know that when you log back in after work the next day it’s all gone? Now, if your realm could purchase NPC’s that would man arrow carts, catas, etc…..maybe then??? I don’t know, I’m no genius, but perhaps the ability to ensure your defensive siege would actually fire while we were all tucked in our beds sleeping might even things out a bit….just a thought.

Zerging is annoying, yes. But, “strength in numbers” is one of the oldest rules of warfare. It takes far less organization and tactics when moving as one large mass. Like anything else, the zerg can be countered…and quite easily actually. I’ve seen a couple players with swiftness peel off 10-man layers of a zerg as a ruse. Flanking sends most zergs into a panic and scatters them because there is an inherent lack of tactical organization. But, without leadership, tactics, and most importantly, communication between players on your side, numbers win….simple as that. I’m a fan of free, open PvP without interference from too many rules and restrictions. If your opponent wishes to put all their eggs in one basket, then it is up to your realm to unweave their little basket…

Downed state just isn't a fun PvP mechanic

I’ve had downed state be both really lame and really fun. I was about to win a 2v1 when a ranger’s pet downed me during the stomp. Yes, it was dumb play on my part not to neutralize the pet before the stomp, but I was in a hurry. On the other hand, I was in a great 1v1 with another guardian and we both downed each other at the same time. The downed state fight went on for a good minute and was a fun element. I like that Anet is trying to add something new, but it needs some fixing/tweaking for sure…
