Thank you for the reply Caneno, I’m inclined to agree with you on this. From researching the issue a bit more it seems that many different hardware configurations have similar issues. Such a broad dispersion of hardware profiles leads me to believe that the issue is engine-side rather than user-side.

Here’s hoping the next patch is a step in the right direction for performance.

I also have had this problem (AMD 7950) and it has actually come and gone between game patches. I’m not sure what causes it, for me downloading AMDs catalyst application profiles seemed to help it, it’s still there but not as bad. I’m not sure if Nvidia has a similar download to support game profiles.

As a crossfire user (dual 7950HDs) I can say the scaling in this game is not that good. If I remember I only saw a net fps gain of around 20% with both cards (settings buried in max). I also refuse to believe that my 4.2 Ghz i5 is not “fast enough” to obtain stable fps on this game.

Either way, if you want crossfire for just GW2 steer clear, it’s buggy and problematic at the best and unusable at the worst. If you do decide to go ahead an dual card, for the love of god download catalyst application profiles!

Hello,

I’m not one to usually make forum posts, but I have an ongoing issue that I’m out of ideas on. If anyone can give me some advice I’d really appreciate it.

I’ve been playing Guildwars 2 on and off for that last couple of months and have had issues that seem to come and go, likely caused by patches but I cannot be certain.

I seem to have substantial fps drop whilst rotating my camera; I have heard this can be a CPU/GPU issue. I’ve tried various things to alleviate this and to my surprise, a recent patch seemed to make this issue vanish for me, then, it returned in a more recent patch.

General FPS issues. I have a decently hearty PC that can play most anything I want effortlessly (well, ALMOST effortlessly, see following) so I am unsure as to why my FPS seems so anemic when playing GW2…it confuses me.

MY Specs:
- Core i5 3570k (4.2 Ghz OC, air cooled, max temp: 58 Celsius (prime95 test))
- 16 GB DDR3 Ram (2133 Mhz, memtest passed, 3 times)
- Corsair GT 240 GB SSD
- 2 x Gigabyte HD 7950 3GB (Crossfired, updated drivers, passed stress testing)
- MSI z77-GD65 motherboard
- Corsair AX1200 PSU
- Other bits that don’t pertain to performance

Note: I run the game at very high/max settings, as I’d assume I’d have no problem at these settings.

OKAY SO:
I have a strong inclination it may have something to do with Crossfire. I see very minimal performance increase in this game when running both cards against just one card. I have diasbled ULPS (no notable difference), downloaded CAP (fixed map bug I had), updated drivers (hit or miss really, doesn’t seem to correlate to issues).

So is it that my hardware can’t run this, or can I safely say there is something amiss either in my graphics setup or the game enigne? I can still play, but it seems like over patches my performance has deteriorated when playing (only) this game.
