Seeing as we just had the first QoL and cosmetic patch and probably last for at least a year, it doesn’t look too promising anytime soon…
I was secretly hoping, oh they are overhauling the whole cosmetic UI! maybe they will add an option for engies. I know they had a lot to deliver on and every big new build comes with bugs, and doing something cosmetic just for one class can be a waste of time in management’s eyes, it would just be nice just to get an inkling of an idea of if they even had it on the backburner, on a postit note somewhere, to look into.
show kit backpack: toggle on/ toggle of (does not apply to PvP)
That should do it.
We still won’t see legendaries when we are in a kit, but that’s the next step.
I still don’t understand the argument people use when they say things like, “oh, I won’t know what abilities you have if I see you wearing a giant ugly backpack with extremely minor differences between kits rather than a notifier like attunements.”
If ANet comes out with that being their official statement as to why they don’t want to make this a universal toggle, then I want elementalists to have to have giant, gaudy, party-cool riddden crystals attached to their back to signify their attunement, because I can’t look at their buff indicators.
Yeah I am a little salty that we’ve been asking for this since launch and still nothing except a single response saying, “sorry, but other stuff is more important”.
Sure were fast to revert the changes that they said they were going to make to begin with. As long as it makes the class appealing they can change it back within a day. Sucks for any engineer that actually has an ascended/legendary weapon, doesn’t do anything for you with most of the viable builds being very kit-centric, which, to add insult to injury, makes you feel like you never have it equipped in the first place, anyway. I’d pull all the mats to make a legendary out of the bank that I have sitting there to make the quip if it meant I could have confetti grenades.
And now two new cool backpacks. It’s like they are taunting us. I read that one engineer bug fix with fruitless hope.
This a real question.
If we continue to bump this thread is there actually a chance that officials will read it and take it into consideration?
I am asking this because, if not, I would be willing to find another way to perhaps get their attention.
We could send them cupcakes with designs made out of sugar that are hobosacks with a red cross symbol over it to convey our message. They seem to like cupcakes.
Well then I’d say engy might be a good choice, then. They are pretty middle of the line/lowish in terms of dumb strength (spamming, easy builds) so they aren’t too susceptible to any nerfs that I could think of. In addition, I would say all their weapon combos and multiple trait lines are viable.
Not sure what you mean, mesmers are one of the best classes right now.
Engineers have been typically the underdogs but they are gradually being improved with each patch.
+1 want an official response :c especially now with an almost 200g worth backpack being hidden.
thanks for the link! Bittersweet to know there is call for a toggle, but no official response.
With the continuous addition of new, rare, expensive, and cool-looking backpacks, it sucks as an engineer that 90% of the time you can’t see them. With a game about vanity, it would be cool to be able to see your backslot item instead of the same hodge-podge hiking backpacks that hides most of your character and can never be changed in appearance.
I know this could fall under the ‘suggestion’ forum, but it really only applies to engineers. All other classes will always be able to see their gear in battle and only those using shields in sheathed position will their backslot be hidden.
Just wondering if others thought the same or not.
I don’t pretend to be an expert, but if you want to do fractals as a berserker melee thief, feline grace minor in acrobatics and some emergency stuff from shadow arts isn’t just a suggestion. That extra dodge and stealth utility is really important if you are meleeing. You can’t just deathblossom forever. Unless you are doing a bleed build, I wouldn’t use caltrops from trickery.
Thrill of the crime is a lot better for you, and your team. Especially if those caltrops are causing bleeds and blocking another condition damage user from getting max damage stacks. I would also maybe look into flanking strikes instead of bountiful thief because it’s usually pretty rare that mobs have more than one buff, if that. If you go into WvW, though, you could just easily swap back to BT.
I don’t want to rewrite your entire build, but you could move at least 5-10 points and change some of the major traits to be a lot more relevant to your team by doing more damage, dodging more, and even buffing a bit.
