end game?

Minus the dungeon grind, you can pretty much enjoy all the same content you would at max level. It’s extremely fun to explore the entire world once. There is almost no vertical progression. The game is best suitable for the casual gamer, and pvp elitist. There is no need to ever farm. One week maximum should get you to level 80, and 10-20 dollars in the gem shop converted to gold should get the gear your only ever going to need for a long time.

Is a bought level 80 better than my hard-won level 80? It isn’t, so I don’t really mind. If someone wants to spend hundreds of dollars for a shortcut and some shiny pixels, it’s fine for me, as long as he does not have a stat-wise advantage over me.

That is where Ascended Gears comes ; they represent power and you litterally need hundreds of gold to get them, while someone can get them much faster with real money. While you will be trying to get the needed gold, those people will be more powerful than you in areas like WvW. Isn’t that unfair?

Legendary weapons are, I have to admit, only skins. Yet, those are a main end-game goal for players ; is it really fair, to sell them this way? And is it really profitable for Arenanet, since crafting a Legendary Weapon was probably my long term goal and it became worthless to my eyes as soon as they started popping on the Trading Post?

Acsended gear barely has a stat difference lol, your acting like ascended gear will give us an extra 300k health and make us god mode) LOL. Ascended gear isnt NEEDED unless you want to do fractals.

+1, All gear beyond exotic (which you could buy with karma or a few gold relatively) literally makes no difference.

Even though it’s a game it’s still in the real world. I congratulate GW2 for coming out with a balanced system that surpasses most others in it’s genre.

Just because there is an automated lfg function does not mean you have to use it. The only people concernd with this are people who have established enough people to go to dungeons with all they want. Of course they don’t want a group finder tool. Finding a dungeon group is doable but starting out alone without any friends is tough. You have to make contacts and keep those relationships. You have to go through a great many of people to see who works out for you. It can be frustrating and becomes work. For most people this is discouraging for a game that your supposed to be able to just log on and have fun ( if they are interested in doing dungeon content). For me I don’t care either way since dungeons mean nothing to me thus far then a occasional fun run. Looking at it logically though it is always better to have more options to suite all people.

The way to scale it for casual and extreme gamers alike is to open the dungeons periodically throughout the day. Each dungeon que should be announced and give an option to join the dungeon que or que as a group. You should be able to que from anywhere because you may have not explored the maps yet.

Agree with account bound on acquire

I totally agree, it is suppose to be account bound and not be able to sell.
It is suppose to be something special and not just buy… I hope this doesn’t become one of those PtW games….

It’s not pay to win because there’s nothing you can buy that’s better than what you’d get by playing the game.

So, they should just put dungeon armor in the gem shop because I can earn that in the game? Please think about what you just said…

Spending 5 minutes on converting gems—>gold is apparently the same as spending 1000 hours in game to actually earn something

Legendaries, like 99% of everything in this game, have no value because they can be bought with real money

I didn’t say they should put dungeon armor in the gem shop, so shut up about that.

I didn’t say that spending 5 minutes on converting gems to gold is the same as 1000 hrs in game, so shut up about that.

All I said is it’s not pay to win because you can’t buy anything better than what’s easily obtained in game. A legendary weapon is just fancy looking, not in any way better statistically.

The way GW2 is set up, if it’s something that involves the economy, you have several ways to get it, one of which is spend gold. Legendaries are almost all about TP.

I think the issue here is Arena Net is getting around the whole P2W issue because all the stats are the same as a normal exotic (until ascended weapons come out…). In other MMO’s, being more powerful (and sometimes cooler looking gear) than the other guy is a way to stand out and show that you put some work into your character. In GW2, having the super rare, cool looking armor or weapons (i.e. Legendaries) are the way to stand out and show that you put some work into your character…except you can just buy that look with real money – so in essence, it IS pay2win within the GW2 universe. The sooner people realize what is actually going on here, the better.

Real pay2win games force you to use the shop to even compete. Most other mmo’s release new gear and suddenly you have no choice but to get it because the differences are more often then not; extreme in comparison. For some thing to be Pay2Win the end result item has to say “I Win”. Legendary weapons in Guild Wars 2 are cosmetic. If someone wants to pay lots of money or work really hard for lets say a brand new pair of shoes what does it matter lol. ANET are genius, they have found a way to get fanatics to spend thousands of dollars while keeping a game completely non Pay2Win at the same time. A flawless mix of the two making them money while keeping the mast majority of the community happy. Casual players don’t feel the pressure to get wrapped up in the grind. Crazy fanatics have something to do or spend allot of money on. Need i say more?

I have say if a Legendary was just only 50 gold past the lowest exotic price I would not buy it. The stats are not worth it, it’s nearly purely cosmetic. This game keeps things pretty well balanced by releasing new items that are basically the same stats as the ones previous. Guild Wars 2 is not much of a Pay2win compared to real pay2win games. There is really not much to complain about here.

Solution: Play a non rpg game that’s fun on the side you can switch to off and on. You could play a Dota type game or a FPS type game both are near endlessly fun.

You can have a whole company filled with talented individuals, but nothing could ever get done. Care to guess why that may be?

The Engineer class is allot better off then the first class I played (Ranger). Which brings me to my point. There are many pressing issues for them to make everything perfect, they have a limited budget and resources. I’m sure they would love to make every one happy but we have to remember ANET is not god.

It would be unprofessional for ANET to divulge all of it’s inner workings to it’s customers. Maybe someone wants to know why the beans always taste funny when Juan makes your burrito at Taco Bell, but Taco Bell will never tell you.

Just because you think you world experiences makes you more qualified to do other peoples jobs, doesn’t make it true. You may need a reality check because your just another person, no better then anyone. You want a perfect game, go find one? There are more pressing issues then your Engineer woes.

Is it possible to inflict multiple stacks of bleed with one attack? For example “Sigil of Superior Earth” procs while flanking “Cross Fire” under the effect of “Sharpening Stone”? Creates 3 stacks of bleed with one attack or just 1 stack?

Respect is not earned it’s given, but can be lost. Trust is something A-Net has not earned, and trust should never be given freely. Either way the community was misinformed, so as a result there reputation took a direct hit. Had they of said nothing then there would be no problem. It’s very simple, common sense really.

Try swapping out warhorn for dagger or torch, and use spike traps (low cd)

Flame Trap has the lowest cd. I use torch sometimes when I know I’m going to be doing allot of aoe, otherwise horn is still really good.

I have seen this time and time again with mmorpg’s where there is mistakes made, promises made and imbalance continues. It’s obvious these companies don’t want to lose money. Another game just recently made the same mistake and lost nearly all there credibility, cough Diablo 3. So where in lies the problem?

Are they incompetent, are we too impatient, are the problems more complicated then can safely be addressed with honesty. One thing for sure is careful disclosure is a must for them. It’s clear the ball was dropped in this case, but we as gamers are a very forgiving bunch as long as we get what we want. The only point I would like to make is – As bad as it may seem this game is still better then 90% of the ones out there for anything that comes close to it’s genre. I again randomly picked the red headed step child path, (super sad face)!

Anything can work for open world PvE, If interested, I can link you a dungeon build

Is there a Dungeon build(s) out there with “strategy breakdowns”?

Every dungeon and every build has a different strategy breakdown. It depends on you to work with your class and know what they do and what you do.

That’s why I’m here at the forums, This is my first GW class/game I’ve ever played. The game seems mostly straight forward however some things are still confusing (ie. rune upgrades.) Most games I can search for guides that explain most things I will need to know about a game. For GW2 this doesn’t seem to be the case, or the game is just more confusing then others.

I can say for sure it’s a hell of allot better then most games out there! cough d3

- Currently about level 60 running 10/20/20/0/0.
(Sharpened Edges – Chance to cause bleeding on critical hits.)
(Trapper’s Expertise – Trap skills use ground targeting and are 50% larger.)

- Mostly + Precision (very little + crit damage) and + Condition damage.

- Short Bow/Axe War horn.

- (Solo PvE) Sharpening Stone, Quickening Zephyr, Flame Trap, Rampage As One.
I would assume for group playing or multiple monster farming, I would just run more traps and switch to roots, suggestions accepted!

Personally I don’t notice good damage unless I get to 8-12+ stacks of bleed. I’m looking for any tips on similar builds or if this is the most viable. I have dabbles with power + precision solo builds in the past and I seem to like this more. I still o feel I may be missing pieces to the puzzle.
