Either way, I really hope it gets sorted out in a positive way soon. All the rage that is going around is bad for everyone’s health I think.

I think engineer is just weird compared to other classes, not necessarily hard to play. It takes some getting used to but once you get the hang of it’s not bad. The thing that make sit daunting is if you are playing a multi kit build, there are just a lot of skills. It can be pretty forgiving in pve though because the skills have pretty short cooldowns.

And Shion makes a good point for pvp. Since the scrapper builds have come up, pvp as an engineer has become a bit less complicated then it used to be.

Idk. I feel pretty legendary playing an engineer.

The only kit I never use is med kit. I cycle through them depending on the mode. My favorite kit is EG. I guess I generally only use flamethrower in raids, but that’s just because I tend to favor other utilities in pvp and open world.

I agree, it’s a really good heal for most pve and group content. It’s just a bit harder to run with in pvp, in my experiences.

I’m mostly speaking in terms of PvP, but welcome thoughts on WvW or PvE as well.

I’ve been playing engineer from launch and have always loved using shield. But over time (in the past few months especially) shield has been overshadowed by other weapons. I enjoy p/p and hammer but in the end of the day I miss playing with shield. Since HoT I’ve been playing around and theory crafting but haven’t quite found a solid build or play style. It always seems to be just shy of being useful.

It seems from recent changes they are pushing it more towards support type builds, which I’ve also had little success working with. Engineer historically been the best at boon sharing/support (or maybe someone can shine some light on this for me).

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on current pistol/shield builds?

It’s definitely more than it has been. A while back there was a rework of damage and condi damage that added more burst potential and then there was a more recent change to make it less tanky.

I just want to reiterate how sad it is that this is at the top of the forums still. Sad engineer is sad. I’ll just keep dreaming of one day being pretty.
