I am not a new player, but I am hardly seasoned. I play mostly spvp, and I have a learned on a necro and toyed with an engi so far. Mesmer’s give me fits all the time, so I decided it was time to give the class a try. I wanted to do a confusion build for pvp because I loved Backfire back in the gw1 days. I wanted to get some thoughts on my first attempt at a build (copy and paste link).

I am new to the game and have a few questions on some bugs that I think I am seeing in relation to a build that I am trying out. You can see the build here (copy and paste), which I use for sPvP (pretty much all i play):

I love me some flamethrower and burnination, but I was having some issues with the tool tips. If you look at the damage numbers on the skill calc page, they are much higher than what I saw on the tool tips in game. The in game tool tips didn’t seem to reflect the right numbers. I am assuming that the skill editor page is correct, but that might be a kittenumption.

Second bug I saw was when I was using the sigil of battle (I heard that switching weapon sigils works for kits). When I switched, I got no might. I was also using a talent that gave me three stacks when using a healing skill, so I used the med kit for that, so I expected 6 stacks, but only got three. Sigh.

I changed my talents around as a result and ended up with the build you see above. Let me know what you think!

Still pretty new to the game and really enjoying it tbh. I wanted to get some opinions on my build and how I might improve it. I am not a good player by any means, and I haven’t really mastered my timing around when to use interrupts or other more advanced skills, but I like a tankier build that is a bit more forgiving of my bad play. That said my damage isn’t great, but I think if I got better skill wise I could outlast and wear down my opponents eventually.

Then I am certainly no true engineer! heh.

Had this game less than a week, and I am loving the engineer. Looking at this build, I don’t understand what the burst combo is. Can anyone explain it to me? I’d love to try it out.
