Guild Wars 2

In the last few weeks I have notice lag in areas where I previously had no problem. I have recently upgraded my computer so that I could play GW without problems and after that big financial output I am more than discouraged. The initial result of my upgrade was wonderful but in the past few weeks I am not only getting 7:11:3:189:101 server lost contact with game client messages but the performance of my computer in GW has dropped dramatically. When I select auto detect graphics the game selects all high settings which means that my computer more than meets the requirements of the game but I am having to override this to play wvw using best performance settings which give me barely acceptable graphics. Now when I am in wvw I experience extreme skill freeze – lag is not adequate to describe what happens. I appear to port back to a previous position which is mind blowing when you are trying to escape a zerg, I find myself slap bang in the trouble I thought I had escaped! A fellow player said that I was actually running on the spot and never escaped. I have reached a red port into a fort in time to escape trouble only to find that I could not get in – the port would not allow me in for so long that the zerg caught me and wiped me out. When there are zergs around I am often completely unable to use any of my skills and my character just stand there doing nothing. To cap it all it took 5 minutes before I was able to wp back to the citadel. They really need to address this issue in wvw.

I have posted elsewhere – I had an Nvidia graphics card that gave me back screens the whole time – the game was unplayable. My nephew had the same graphics card but a different make – he had no problems. I am currently using an AMD XFX card no problems. It seems there is an issue with certain manufacturers’ cards rather than with Nvidia. Sorry can give you the details but look for my old post under Black Screeen issues.

I’m a new mature player (been playing since the beginning of January only). with a lvl 71 Guardian. This is my first on line game and I have much to learn about how everything works. I am currently a member of my nephew’s very small guild that is completely inactive. I am looking for a more active guild with (mature – though I am not prejudiced) members who are available to run dungeons – and whatever else there is to play in a team. At the moment I am playing solo – very dangerous at times and it would be nice to adventure with a team or join up with another player to tackle difficult fights. I play during the day and sometimes later at night. It would be great to play and see that other members of my guild are on line.

Who’d believe, your English is very good. I already use a spirit sword – it used to be imune to damage but now it gets wiped out pretty easily. Thanks for all your help – back to the game.

Okay – as usual I squealed before I read your reply. Is there any way I can purchase the Mistfire wolf – I don’t have the deluxe edition of GW2?

I’ve taken all of the elite skills especially because I thought that would unlock the hound but I still havn’t got my pet dog! the icon has not lit up so I assume that the hound is not available.

Ahh, thanks so much – I won’t panic about my skills then – any idea how I get the hounds that do not have any skill costs next to them – elite skill. I am playing alone and could really do with a fighting partner – used the sword to help when getting group mugged but now that it can be easily destroyed could use a pet viscious hound.

have no clue about high-end mystic forge recipes – guess I’ll have to find that out by default as well.

I have got the impression that lvl 80 is as high as it goes. If one carries on playing do you still get trait points and skill points after you have reached this level? There is so much I don’t know and I have been just winging it and finding out as I play.

does one still get skill and trait points after reaching level 80? I am on level 71.

I’ve played many RPG’s but this is my first MMO game and I am having to learn by trial and much error. In the beginning I thought that I had to select all the skills on the lower levels before I could select those on the next level up so I have some that I never use and not enough points for some of the higher skills which would be more useful. Is there a way to reset skills – like the traits which can be reset at a Guardian trainer?

Glad I’m not the only frustrated one – I have tried about 5 times but usually get killed as I stay in the area too long TRYING TO DO SOMETHING! I bet the answer is simple and that I will kick myself when I find out.

I cannot for the life of me work out how to rescue these merchants. After being alerted to the problem by the caravan guard I went to the area of action. I could find no merchants to rescue and the kidnappers that I do find run towards their home base so fast my guardian cannot keep up with them to do much damage – and don’t get me started on those blasted cannons! The area of action seems to move to cover the Bloody Buccaneer’s base – there I found the merchants in cages. I have not found a tool to open the cages they are in, can’t talk to the prisoners and cannot bash the cages open. What am I missing/doing wrong? I hate to leave a task undone.

I found this dungeon a while ago and didn’t have a clue how things work. I entered thinking I was with a team of others who entered at the same time as me but the moment I was in they disappeared. – I did say I did not have a clue about dungeons didn’t I? So now I find myself without a party – entering on lvl 40 and there is no way I can survive (died many times just to prove this to myself) How can I get a team to help me complete this? My guild is no help as it is small and no-one ever seems to play.

But aren’t we supposed to get additional slots? Or am I just optimistic?

I bought the training manual from the right trainer – other trainers won’t even talk to you if you approach them.

I bought the lvl 11 one quite a long time ago and used it. Now I bought the lvl 40 one and it would not activate so I sold it. I just bought the lvl 60 one and instead of giving me extra traits it just removed all my traits and made me reselect my choices. I could have paid to retrain at a fraction of the cost. I got no extra slots and now I am heavily out of pocket!!!!

I am on level 60 and just bought the Master’s Training Manual (requires level 40) and it won’t activate. Surely this is not because I am level 60?

I am obviously new to this game and have a great deal to discover but as I move along I acquire better equipment which becomes soul bound on use. Obviously I would rather use this more powerful equipment but sooner or later it too is outgrown. It seems I can’t sell it, can’t reduce it to component parts and salvage it. What on earth can I do with it? I have resorted to destroying the outgrown stuff which seems such a waste – surely there is a better option?

Mmmm – I am not sure this is it – unless it cost about 40+ silver which would be really bad for a one off repair kit. But thanks for the input.

I know that I saw someone selling an armour repair kit (it cost over 40 silver) but can’t for the life of me remember who it was or where I found them. I play a guardian and am always in the thick of things and often get swamped and terminated. I am so sick of having to teleport to the other end of the map to find an armour repairer that I decided to bite the bullet and purchase one. I know I’m not dreaming it does exist. I also don’t know how many repairs it is good for.

If only the leader goes through the portal – what happens to the rest of the team? Do you fight as a team?

I really am new to this. Where will I see a group advertisement outside a dungeon?

A couple of times I have been stopped at the door because I cannot enter an area alone – I need a team of at least 5 people. Once I got in with some others and the team vanished into thin air and I was left alone in a difficult situation. There is a swarm of other people waiting to enter – can I form a team with strangers and if so how do I go about doing this?

Okay if any one is interested. My problem is solved. My local tech swapped out my graphics card which works perfectly for every other game for a high end AMD XFX Radeon 7970 card. He said there was nothing wrong with my card that a little patch written by game programmers couldn’t fix. My Geforce GTX 560Ti gave me constant black screen problems – I played with a friend and he said I did not disappear (until I hit ctrl-alt-del) but he had to keep me alive as I just stood there. The tech also said that the problem was an incompatibility with my GIGABYTE manufactured graphics card – my friend also has a Geforce GTX 650 but his is manufactured by ASUS and he has no problem. The game seems to have compatibility problems with certain manufacturer’s graphics cards. Now the game works like a charm though this has been the most expensive game fix ever!!! For those who are still black screening – if I see you standing aimlessly in the middle of a fight I will protect you – I know what it is like to die a thousand times because of a problem that could be solved by a patch.

I need help – this golum seems indestructible – I could use some helpful hints dealing with it.

There must be a way as there is a skill challenge there. I have spent the last hour making like a mountain goat but no dice my human guardian cannot scale the cliffs. There must be another way. Please give me directions before I fall off a cliff.

I often land in a battle situation and can see that my allies are taking a pounding. I am supposed to be able to detonate the orb of light or shield of absorption to heal nearby allies but haven’t a clue how to do it. I am obviously new to the game please help.

I’m also new but I receive a popup in the top left corner that shows me that I have been invited to join a guild.

Phew, thanks – as you can guess I am new at this game. Thought I was in deep trouble.

My character is a Guardian level 14 but her effective level is 5. What has happened? Her HP used to be over 1000 but is now only 500. How can I restore her to full strength and what has happened to her? I have tried healing her but she is at full health although at this lower effective level.

I forgot to add: In my Nvidia Control Panel my Antialiasing – mode IS set to Application-controlled. I have no problem with any other of the games that I play.

Hi there, I’m not a technical person but I bought and started playing this game very recently and really enjoyed it. I have a Geforce GTX 560Ti , Windows 7, 64 bit etc etc and if the solution is not simple I will not be able to play this game. This is the first mmo that I have tried to play and I am getting a black screen, sound still plays I still have a cursor but no visuals. Sometimes the visuals return after a few seconds and it comes back in fits and settles but usually I have to ctrl alt delete and start up program manager and end task and reconnect. Once this problem has started it gets more and more frequent (I wouldn’t be surprised if it crashed on me as much as 30 times in 2 days) until I give up and stop playing. My friend has the same driver and no problems. I have the latest nvidia driver installed and a brand new modem. I have got an error message twice which I automatically reported. If there is a solution then “baby language” please I use computer but don’t really know them.
